What is claimed is: 1. A water purification system comprising: a disposable sump comprising: a housing, comprising: a longitudinal side wall having an interior surface and an exterior surface; a distal bottom portion integral with the longitudinal side wall; a disposable water purification media cartridge having an outer surface, disposed within the sump, wherein the outer surface is displaced from the interior surface of the longitudinal side wall to create a gap between the disposable water purification media cartridge and the interior surface of the longitudinal side wall through which unfiltered water can flow, and having a longitudinal central opening through which filtered water can flow and in contact with said interior surface of said distal bottom portion of said housing; and a housing end cap adapted to provide a water tight seal with said longitudinal side wall, comprising a collar comprising a central opening adapted to receive untreated water flowing toward said disposable water media cartridge, and a substantially planar portion extending from said collar and having an upper surface forming the upper surface of said disposable sump; and a flow dispersal plate disposed between the inlet and the gap, and between the housing end cap and the purification media cartridge, and comprising: a substantially planar flow distribution portion having a circumferential outer edge; a plurality of flow diverting members adapted to direct water flow longitudinally away from the flow dispersal plate and provide a circumferential velocity component to the water; a central opening formed by a conduit longitudinally extending from said substantially planar flow distribution portion in a direction opposed to the longitudinal water flow provided by the flow diverting members, and wherein said central opening is not in direct fluid communication with the substantially planar flow distribution portion, and is in fluid communication with said longitudinal central opening of said disposable fluid purification media cartridge, and extends into said collar of said housing end cap; and a purification head assembly detachably connected to the disposable sump, comprising: multiple fluid inlets, including an inlet in fluid communication with the gap; multiple fluid outlets, including an outlet in fluid communication with the longitudinal central opening; and flow paths within the purification head having diameters approximately the same as those of the fluid inlets and fluid outlets. 2. The purification system of claim 1, wherein the purification head assembly further comprises a plurality of circumferential detents; and further comprising a mounting bracket comprising: a mounting surface that substantially corresponds to a surface supporting the purification system, and a support ring rigidly attached to the mounting surface and extending therefrom at an angle to the mounting surface, wherein the support ring comprises: an opening therein adapted to receive the purification head assembly, and a plurality of spaced detents within the opening, adapted to cooperate with the plurality of circumferential detents on said purification head assembly, wherein the purification head assembly can be rotated within the support ring to different circumferential positions. 3. The purification system of claim 1, wherein the flow diverting members comprise a plurality of radial angled vanes circumferentially spaced on the circumferential outer edge of the substantially planar flow distribution portion. 4. The purification system of claim 1, wherein the flow diverting members comprise a plurality of angled holes through the substantially planar flow distribution portion, circumferentially spaced near the circumferential outer edge of the substantially planar flow distribution portion. 5. The purification system of claim 1, wherein the water purification media cartridge comprises activated carbon. 6. The purification system of claim 5, wherein the activated carbon is immobilized by a polymeric binder resin. 7. The purification system of claim 1, wherein the water purification media cartridge comprises a zeolite. 8. The purification system of claim 1, wherein the water purification media cartridge comprises a reverse osmosis membrane. 9. The purification system of claim 1, wherein the water purification media cartridge comprises a titanium oxide. 10. The purification system of claim 1, wherein the water purification media cartridge comprises alumina. 11. The purification system of claim 1, wherein the water purification media cartridge comprises silica. 12. The purification system of claim 1, wherein the sump housing is made of disposable materials selected from the group consisting of polyolefins, polyamides, and polyesters. 13. A purification system comprising: at least two purification apparatuses of claim 1 connected in series. 14. A purification system comprising: at least two purification apparatuses of claim 1 connected in parallel. 15. The purification system of claim 1, wherein said substantially planar portion of said housing end cap comprises an underside comprising a series of circumferentially spaced radially extending vanes suitable to channel and distribute influent unfiltered fluid to said flow dispersal plate. 16. The purification system of claim 1, further comprising: at least one clip for securing two flow conduits to said purification head assembly, comprising: a main body section having a first end portion, a second end portion, and a middle portion; a first flexible extending section and a second flexible extending section extending from the first and second end portions, respectively, of the main body section substantially normal thereto; a central extending section extending from the middle portion of the main body section substantially normal thereto; wherein the first flexible extending section and the central extending section define an opening adapted to receive an outer surface of a conduit, and the second flexible extending section and the central extending section define another opening adapted to receive an outer surface of another conduit; and wherein the first flexible extending section, the second flexible extending section, and the central extending section have a sufficient thickness to be received by a clip insertion slot in said purification head assembly. 17. The purification system of claim 16, further comprising a connector secured to said purification head by said clip, said connector comprising two adjacent annular openings suitable to receive polymeric o-rings.
