What is claimed is: 1. A device for treating glaucoma, comprising a compressible attenuation device capable of being operatively coupled with an eye and a valve for permitting filling of the attenuation device through a filling device; wherein the valve has a first pair of complementary surfaces for resisting deflation of the attenuation device, and a second pair of complementary surfaces for resisting additional filling of the attenuation device when the attenuation device is exposed to an external pressure which is greater than an internal pressure within the attenuation device. 2. A device for treating glaucoma as in claim 1, wherein the first pair of complementary surfaces are opposing surfaces on a flapper valve. 3. A device for treating glaucoma as in claim 2, wherein the flapper valve is oriented such that an increase in the internal pressure increases the closing pressure on the flapper valve. 4. A device for treating glaucoma as in claim 3, wherein the flapper valve extends into a chamber within the attenuation device. 5. A device for treating glaucoma as in claim 1, wherein closing pressure on the second pair of complementary surfaces is increased in response to an increase in pressure in the external environment surrounding the attenuation device. 6. A device for treating glaucoma, comprising a compressible attenuation device having a valve having a first complementary surface and a second complementary surface with a flow passage therebetween for filling the attenuation device, wherein the first complementary surface is biased in the direction of the second complementary surface to close the valve when pressure within the eye and external to the attenuation device is greater than pressure within the attenuation device, and the second complementary surface is biased in the direction of the first complementary surface to close the valve when pressure within the attenuation device exceeds intraocular pressure external to the attenuation device. 7. A device for treating glaucoma as in claim 6, wherein the first complementary surface is disposed in between the flow passage and the outside of the attenuation device. 8. A device for treating glaucoma as in claim 6, wherein the second complementary surface is disposed in between the flow passage and the inside of the attenuation device. 9. A device for treating glaucoma as in claim 6, wherein the flow path extends within a wall of the attenuation device, between a first opening into the attenuation device and a second opening to the outside of the attenuation device. 10. A device for treating glaucoma as in claim 6, wherein the flow path is normally collapsed under neutral pressure conditions. 11. A therapeutic device, comprising: a flexible housing comprising an outer wall and defining a chamber therein, the housing configured to be positioned within an eye while in a first, introduction configuration and then at least partially inflated into a second, implanted configuration; and at least one high vapor pressure media having a vapor pressure approximately equal to the pressure within the anatomical structure and a permeability of less than 1 ml/day at body temperature through said outer wall. 12. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises heptafluoropropane. 13. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises perfluorooctylbromide. 14. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises perfluorohexane. 15. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises perfluorodecalin. 16. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises tetrafluoroethane. 17. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises sulfur hexafluoride. 18. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises hexafluoroethane. 19. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises perfluoropropane. 20. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises perfluorobutane. 21. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises perfluoropentane. 22. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises perfluoroheptane. 23. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises perfluorooctane. 24. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises octafluoropropane. 25. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises decafluoro-n-butane. 26. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media comprises perfluoroperhydrophenanthrene. 27. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein said high vapor pressure media is a liquid at body temperature. 28. A therapeutic device as in claim 27, wherein the density of said high vapor pressure media is greater than that of the ocular fluid in the eye. 29. A therapeutic device as in claim 28, wherein the degree to which said high vapor pressure media counteracts the buoyancy of any gas in the attenuation device is determined by the amount of said high vapor pressure media in the attenuation device. 30. A therapeutic device as in claim 11, wherein the housing is configured to be positioned within a patient's eye while in the introduction configuration and then at least partially inflated into a second, implanted configuration within the eye. 31.
