At least one carrier mechanism operatively connects the mounting bracket and the adapter bracket, the first carrier mechanism positioned with a set of substantially straight guide paths or surfaces to couple the adapter bracket to the mounting bracket. When the flat panel display is operatively connected to the adapter bracket and the mounting bracket is attached to the surface, the flat panel display is generally selectively rotatably positionable about an axis substantially parallel to the surface as a result of the interaction of the first carrier mechanism with the set of substantially straight guide paths or surfaces.

A mounting system for mounting a device to a surface, comprising: a mounting bracket configured for operative attachment to a mounting surface; an adapter bracket attachable to a device, the adapter bracket moveably coupled to the mounting bracket, the adapter bracket comprising a pair of flanges, each of the pair of flanges including a first substantially straight adapter guide path characterized by a first adapter guide path major axis and a second substantially straight adapter guide path characterized by a second adapter guide path major axis noncolinear with and intersecting the first adapter guide path major axis; a first carrier received by at least one of the first substantially straight adapter guide paths of the pair of flanges and operatively coupled to the mounting bracket; and a second carrier received by at least one of the second substantially straight adapter guide paths of the pair of flanges and operatively coupled to the mounting bracket, wherein the adapter bracket is selectively positionable in relation to the mounting bracket by way of interaction of at least one of the first carrier and the second carrier with the mounting bracket. 2. The mounting system of claim 1, wherein the first carrier is received by both of the pair of flanges. 3. The mounting system of claim 2, wherein the second carrier is received by both of the pair of flanges. 4. The mounting system of claim 1, wherein the mounting bracket includes: a first mounting bracket opening configured to receive the first carrier, and a second mounting bracket opening configured to receive the second carrier. 5. The mounting system of claim 4, wherein the first mounting bracket opening and the second mounting bracket opening comprise substantially straight mounting bracket guide paths. 6. The mounting system of claim 1, wherein the adapter bracket is selectively tiltable in relation to the mounting bracket about an axis substantially parallel to the mounting surface. 7. The mounting system of claim 6, wherein the adapter bracket is adjustably coupled to the mounting bracket such that a degree of friction between the adapter bracket and the mounting bracket is selectively adjustable. 8. A mounting system for mounting a device to a surface, comprising: an adapter bracket operatively attachable to a device; a mounting bracket operatively attachable to a mounting surface, the mounting bracket moveably coupled to the adapter bracket, the mounting bracket comprising a pair of flanges, each of the pair of flanges including a first substantially straight mounting bracket guide path characterized by a first mounting bracket guide path major axis and a second substantially straight mounting bracket guide path characterized by a second mounting bracket guide path major axis noncolinear and intersecting with the first mounting bracket guide path major axis; a first carrier received by at least one of the first substantially straight mounting bracket guide paths of the pair of flanges and operatively coupled to the adapter bracket; and a second carrier received by at least one of the second substantially straight mounting bracket guide paths of the pair of flanges and operatively coupled to the adapter bracket, wherein the adapter bracket is selectively positionable in relation to the mounting bracket by way of interaction of at least one of the first carrier and the second carrier with the adapter bracket. 9. The mounting system of claim 8, wherein the first carrier is received by both of the pair of flanges. 10. The mounting system of claim 9, wherein the second carrier is received by both of the pair of flanges. 11. The mounting system of claim 8, wherein the adapter bracket includes: a first adapter bracket opening configured to receive the first carrier, and a second adapter bracket opening configured to receive the second carrier. 12. The mounting system of claim 11, wherein the first adapter bracket opening and the second adapter bracket opening comprise substantially straight adapter bracket guide paths. 13. The mounting system of claim 8, wherein the adapter bracket is selectively tiltable in relation to the mounting bracket about an axis substantially parallel to the mounting surface. 14. The mounting system of claim 13, wherein the adapter bracket is adjustably coupled to the mounting bracket such that a degree of friction between the adapter bracket and the mounting bracket is selectively adjustable. 15. A mounting system for mounting a device to a surface, comprising: a mounting bracket configured for operative attachment to a mounting surface; an adapter bracket attachable to a device, the adapter bracket moveably coupled to the mounting bracket, the adapter bracket comprising a pair of flanges, each of the pair of flanges including a first substantially straight adapter guide path characterized by a first adapter guide path major axis and a second substantially straight adapter guide path characterized by a second adapter guide path major axis noncolinear with the first adapter guide path major axis; a first carrier received by the first substantially straight adapter guide paths of each of the pair of flanges and operatively coupled to the mounting bracket; and a second carrier received by at least one of the second substantially straight adapter guide paths of the pair of flanges and operatively coupled to the mounting bracket, wherein the adapter bracket is selectively positionable in relation to the mounting bracket by way of interaction of at least one of the first carrier and the second carrier with the mounting bracket. 16. The mounting system of claim 15, wherein the second carrier is received by both of the pair of flanges. 17. The mounting system of claim 15, wherein the mounting bracket includes: a first mounting bracket opening comprising substantially straight mounting bracket guide paths configured to receive the first carrier, and a second mounting bracket opening comprising substantially straight mounting bracket guide paths configured to receive the second carrier. 18. A mounting system for mounting a device to a surface, comprising: an adapter bracket operatively attachable to a device; a mounting bracket operatively attachable to a mounting surface, the mounting bracket moveably coupled to the adapter bracket, the mounting bracket comprising a pair of flanges, each of the pair of flanges including a first substantially straight mounting bracket guide path characterized by a first mounting bracket guide path major axis and a second substantially straight mounting bracket guide path characterized by a second mounting bracket guide path major axis noncolinear with the first mounting bracket guide path major axis; a first carrier received by the first substantially straight mounting bracket guide paths of each of the pair of flanges and operatively coupled to the adapter bracket; and a second carrier received by at least one of the second substantially straight mounting bracket guide paths of the pair of flanges and operatively coupled to the adapter bracket, wherein the adapter bracket is selectively positionable in relation to the mounting bracket by way of interaction of at least one of the first carrier and the second carrier with the adapter bracket. 19. The mounting system of claim 18, wherein the second carrier is received by both of the pair of flanges. 20. The mounting system of claim 18, wherein the adapter bracket includes: a first adapter bracket opening comprising substantially straight adapter bracket guide paths configured to receive the first carrier, and a second adapter bracket opening comprising substantially straight adapter bracket guide paths configured to receive the second carrier.
