More particularly, the invention relates to compositions and methods for using aphid resistant germplasm for breeding soybean aphid resistant soybean plants, including but not limited to cultivars, varieties, lines and methods of breeding the same for commercial use, the breeding methods further involving identifying and using genetic markers for aphid resistant traits.

We claim: 1. A method for producing an aphid resistant soybean plant, comprising: (a) providing aphid resistant germplasm that comprises germplasm from one or more of PI 567543C, PI 567597C, PI 567541B, line E06902 deposited under ATCC accession No: PTA-8794, and PI 567598B; and (b) introducing sai
We claim: 1. A method for producing an aphid resistant soybean plant, comprising: (a) providing aphid resistant germplasm that comprises germplasm from one or more of PI 567543C, PI 567597C, PI 567541B, line E06902 deposited under ATCC accession No: PTA-8794, and PI 567598B; and (b) introducing said aphid resistant germplasm into a soybean plant. 2. A method for producing an aphid resistant soybean plant, comprising: (a) providing germplasm derived from a soybean plant maturity group selected from the group consisting of maturity group I, maturity group II, and maturity group III, (b) detecting the presence in said germplasm of one or more aphid resistance marker selected from the group consisting of Satt271, Satt280, Satt304, Satt439, Satt468, Satt529, Satt628, Satt686, thereby identifying said germplasm as an aphid resistant germplasm; and (c) introducing said aphid resistant germplasm into a soybean plant. 3. A method for producing an aphid resistant soybean plant, comprising: (a) crossing PI 567541B with PI 567598B to produce a first aphid resistant soybean plant, and (b) introducing aphid resistant germplasm from said first aphid resistant soybean plant into a second soybean plant.
