A cylinder head arrangement comprising: a cylinder head having at least one valve chamber; at least one rotary valve, accommodated in the valve chamber, the rotary valve having a curved portion, two side portions and at least one flow passage intersecting the curved portion and at least one of the side portions, and thereby defining flow openings in the curved portion and two side portions, and at least one deflector arranged adjacent at least one side portion of the rotary valve in which a flow opening is defined; wherein the rotary valve and the deflector are mounted onto a common drive shaft. 2. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 1, wherein a back surface of the deflector facing away from the rotary valve is substantially flat and includes an annular projection extending around a passage, which longitudinally extends through the deflector. 3. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 1, wherein the deflector is arranged between the rotary valve and a side wall of the valve chamber. 4. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 3, wherein the side wall of the valve chamber includes a passage and the deflector is shaped to cover the passage. 5. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 1, wherein the deflector has a deflecting surface facing the rotary valve. 6. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 5, wherein the deflecting surface defines a curve. 7. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 5, wherein the deflecting surface increases in diameter with increased distance from the rotary valve. 8. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 5, wherein the deflecting surface includes a blade structure. 9. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 5, wherein at least a portion of the deflector is formed of a heat insulative material. 10. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 1, wherein the drive shaft is rotatably supported in the sidewall passage; and wherein an interior surface of the sidewall passage and an exterior surface of the drive shaft define complementary bearing surfaces. 11. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 10, wherein at least one of the interior surface of the sidewall passage and the exterior surface of the shaft is formed of a solid lubricant. 12. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 10, wherein at least one bearing is arranged in the sidewall passage; and wherein the deflector is in abutment with the rotary valve and the bearing. 13. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 12, wherein the bearing includes an inner race supporting the drive shaft and an outer race; and wherein the deflector is integrally formed with the inner race of the bearing. 14. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 1, wherein at least two rotary valves are provided in the valve chamber; and wherein at least one deflector is arranged between adjacent rotary valves arranged in the same valve chamber. 15. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 14, wherein the deflector has two oppositely facing deflecting surfaces. 16. The cylinder head arrangement according to claim 1, wherein the cylinder head includes a plurality of valve chambers, each having at least one rotary valve and a corresponding deflector accommodated therein; and wherein passages are provided through walls of adjacent valve chambers. 17. A method of guiding fluid flow through a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, comprising: guiding a flow of a fluid through a rotary valve accommodated in the cylinder head, the rotary valve having a curved portion, two side portions and at least one flow passage intersecting the curved portion and at least one of the side portions to define respective flow openings therein; wherein the flow of fluid is guided towards or away from a side portion of the rotary valve in which a flow opening is formed; wherein the fluid flow is guided by a deflector; and wherein both the rotary valve and the deflector are rotated about an axis of rotation at the same speed. 18. The method according to claim 17, wherein the deflector deflects a substantially longitudinal flow of fluid to generate a substantially radial flow of fluid with respect to the axis of rotation. 19. The method according to claim 17, wherein the deflector deflects a generally radial flow of fluid to a generally longitudinal flow of fluid. 20. The method according to claim 17, wherein the fluid flow is guided by a guide structure provided on a deflecting surface of the deflector.
