A harvesting machine includes a harvesting header with a header frame, a cutterbar assembly attached to the header frame along the length thereof and configured to cut a crop, and a draper assembly positioned behind the cutterbar assembly and operable to receive severed crop material from the cutterbar assembly. The draper assembly includes a center draper that delivers crop material to a feeder house of the harvesting machine and oppositely spaced side drapers that deliver crop material to the center draper. The harvesting header is operable to flex and thereby follow an uneven terrain.

What is claimed is: 1. A harvesting header operable to harvest a crop, said harvesting header comprising: a header frame; a crop-cutting assembly mounted to the header frame to extend lengthwise in a lateral direction relative to the normal direction of travel of the header; and a draper assembly supported on the header frame behind the crop-cutting assembly, said draper assembly including a pair of side drapers and a fore-and-aft draper located between the side drapers, said side drapers configured to receive severed crop materials from the crop-cutting assembly and convey the materials laterally to the fore-and-aft draper, said fore-and-aft draper being configured to move the severed crop rearwardly, said fore-and-aft draper including a draper frame and a draper belt supported on the draper frame to present an upper rearwardly moving run for conveying the crop rearwardly, a crop material deflector attached relative to the draper frame in front of the draper belt, said crop material deflector extending in the fore-and-aft direction from in front of the draper belt to a location over the draper belt, with the deflector operable to restrict severed crop delivered from each of the side drapers from flowing to the other of the side drapers. 2. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 1, said crop-cutting assembly comprising a flexible cutterbar assembly mounted to the header frame; a plurality of laterally spaced apart support arms being attached to and cooperatively supporting the flexible cutterbar assembly, said support arms being pivotally coupled to the frame for swinging movement about a laterally extending axis so that the flexible cutterbar assembly is operable to flex along the length thereof in response to changes in terrain as the header is advanced, each of said side drapers being carried on a plurality of the support arms so as to flex with the cutterbar assembly. 3. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 2, said fore-and-aft draper presenting laterally outer margins, said deflector being positioned generally equidistant from the margins. 4. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 3, said draper frame presenting a forward margin and being coupled to the cutterbar assembly adjacent the forward margin such that the draper frame is caused to swing relative to the header frame as the cutterbar assembly flexes up and down, said cutterbar assembly being relatively inflexible along a section defined between the laterally outer margins of the fore-and-aft draper, wherein the forward margin of the draper frame and generally the entire cutterbar assembly section move together as the draper frame swings relative to the header frame. 5. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 4, said side drapers extending laterally inward of the laterally outer margins of the fore-and-aft draper, such that a portion of the side drapers overhang the fore-and-aft draper. 6. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 1, said crop material deflector including a front deflector portion and a rear deflector portion, with the rear deflector portion extending substantially entirely aft of a forwardmost margin of the draper belt. 7. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 6, said front and rear deflector portions comprising a substantially flat plate. 8. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 6, said upper rearwardly moving run of the draper belt presenting a fore-and-aft belt length, said rear deflector portion extending along less than half of the belt length measured from the forwardmost margin of the draper belt. 9. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 8, said rear deflector portion presenting a portion length in the range of about one inch to about six inches. 10. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 6, said rear deflector portion presenting an uppermost edge spaced at a distance above the draper belt. 11. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 10, said distance between the uppermost edge and the draper belt being in the range of about 3 inches to about 5 inches. 12. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 11, said rear portion of the crop deflector presenting a height of at least about 1 inch. 13. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 12, said rear portion of the crop deflector presenting an lowermost edge adjacent the draper belt, said lowermost edge and the draper belt cooperatively defining a spacing therebetween that is less than about 1½ inches. 14. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 10, said uppermost edge being linear. 15. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 10, said front deflector portion being positioned generally forward of the draper belt and extending to a location adjacent the crop-cutting assembly, said front deflector portion presenting a top edge including a lower section spaced below the uppermost edge of the rear deflector portion and a curvilinear transition section defined between the lower section and uppermost edge. 16. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 15, said lower section of the top edge and the uppermost edge being generally linear. 17. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 1, said crop material deflector being attached directly to the draper frame. 18. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 17, said draper frame including a lowermost skid plate that supports a bottom run of the draper belt, said crop material deflector being attached to the skid plate. 19. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 18, said crop-cutting assembly comprising a flexible cutterbar assembly mounted to the header frame, said skid plate being slidably coupled to the flexible cutterbar assembly, with relative movement being permitted between the cutterbar assembly and the crop material deflector.
