A harvesting machine includes a harvesting header with a header frame, a cutterbar assembly attached to the header frame along the length thereof and configured to cut a crop, and a draper assembly positioned behind the cutterbar assembly and operable to receive severed crop material from the cutterbar assembly. The draper assembly includes a center draper that delivers crop material to a feeder house of the harvesting machine and oppositely spaced side drapers that deliver crop material to the center draper. The harvesting header is operable to flex and thereby follow an uneven terrain. The draper assembly includes a draper belt carried by pivotable support arms. The cutterbar drive includes a forward gearbox drivingly connected to the cutterbar assembly and supported on an outer support arm.

What is claimed is: 1. A harvesting header operable to harvest crop, said harvesting header comprising: a header frame; a flexible cutterbar assembly mounted to the header frame to extend lengthwise in a lateral direction relative to the normal direction of travel of the header; a plurality of laterally spaced apart support arms being attached to and cooperatively supporting the flexible cutterbar assembly, said support arms being pivotally coupled to the frame for swinging movement about a laterally extending axis so that the flexible cutterbar assembly is operable to flex along the length thereof in response to changes in terrain as the header is advanced; a draper assembly supported on the header frame behind the cutterbar assembly to flex therewith, said draper assembly including an endless flexible draper belt configured to receive severed crop materials from the cutterbar assembly and convey the materials laterally, said draper belt presenting laterally endmost margins, an outer one of said support arms being positioned laterally outside one of the endmost margins of the draper belt; and a cutterbar drive including a drive shaft and a forward gearbox drivingly connected between the drive shaft and the cutterbar assembly to provide driving power from the drive shaft to the cutterbar assembly, said forward gearbox being supported on the outer support arm adjacent the cutterbar assembly so that the forward gearbox shifts with the flexible cutterbar assembly, said draper assembly including a pair of side drapers and a fore-and-aft draper located between the side drapers, said side drapers configured to receive severed crop materials from the cutterbar assembly and convey the materials laterally to the fore-and-aft draper, said fore-and-aft draper being configured to move the severed crop rearwardly, one of said side drapers including the endless flexible draper belt. 2. The harvesting machine as claimed in claim 1, said outer support arm being positioned outside the endmost belt margin spaced furthest from the fore-and-aft draper. 3. The harvesting machine as claimed in claim 2, said cutterbar assembly including a split sickle assembly to present a pair of side sickle portions, each being associated with a corresponding cutterbar drive and outer support arm. 4. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 3, each of said side drapers being associated with a respective set of support arms on which the draper is carried, each set of support arms including a laterally endmost draper support arm adjacent the outer support arm. 5. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 4, said cutterbar assembly including a flexible cutterbar and a sickle assembly supported on the cutterbar, said cutterbar interconnecting the laterally endmost draper support arm and the outer support arm. 6. A harvesting header operable to harvest crop, said harvesting header comprising: a header frame; a flexible cutterbar assembly mounted to the header frame to extend lengthwise in a lateral direction relative to the normal direction of travel of the header; a plurality of laterally spaced apart support arms being attached to and cooperatively supporting the flexible cutterbar assembly, said support arms being pivotally coupled to the frame for swinging movement about a laterally extending axis so that the flexible cutterbar assembly is operable to flex along the length thereof in response to changes in terrain as the header is advanced; a draper assembly supported on the header frame behind the cutterbar assembly to flex therewith, said draper assembly including an endless flexible draper belt configured to receive severed crop materials from the cutterbar assembly and convey the materials laterally, said draper belt presenting laterally endmost margins, an outer one of said support arms being positioned laterally outside one of the endmost margins of the draper belt; and a cutterbar drive including a drive shaft and a forward gearbox drivingly connected between the drive shaft and the cutterbar assembly to provide driving power from the drive shaft to the cutterbar assembly, said forward gearbox being supported on the outer support arm adjacent the cutterbar assembly so that the forward gearbox shifts with the flexible cutterbar assembly, said forward gearbox being positioned above the cutterbar assembly, said cutterbar drive including a rear gearbox mounted rearwardly and downwardly from the support arm pivot axis, said drive shaft being laterally aligned with the outer support arm and extending through the outer support arm. 7. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 6, said rear gearbox fixed in a location offset from the support arm pivot axis, said drive shaft being extendable to accommodate flexing of the cutterbar. 8. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 7, said drive shaft being telescopic. 9. The harvesting header as claimed in claim 7, said forward gearbox including an input shaft drivingly connected to the drive shaft and cooperating therewith to define a first angle therebetween that varies within an angular range as the cutterbar assembly flexes, said rear gearbox including an output shaft drivingly connected to the drive shaft and cooperating therewith to define a second angle that generally falls within the range. 10. A harvesting header operable to harvest crop, said harvesting header comprising: a header frame; a flexible cutterbar assembly mounted to the header frame to extend lengthwise in a lateral direction relative to the normal direction of travel of the header; a plurality of laterally spaced apart support arms being attached to and cooperatively supporting the flexible cutterbar assembly, said support arms being pivotally coupled to the frame for swinging movement about a laterally extending axis so that the flexible cutterbar assembly is operable to flex along the length thereof in response to changes in terrain as the header is advanced; a draper assembly supported on the header frame behind the cutterbar assembly to flex therewith, said draper assembly including an endless flexible draper belt configured to receive severed crop materials from the cutterbar assembly and convey the materials laterally, said draper belt presenting laterally endmost margins, an outer one of said support arms being positioned laterally outside one of the endmost margins of the draper belt; and a cutterbar drive including a drive shaft and a forward gearbox drivingly connected between the drive shaft and the cutterbar assembly to provide driving power from the drive shaft to the cutterbar assembly, said forward gearbox being supported on the outer support arm adjacent the cutterbar assembly so that the forward gearbox shifts with the flexible cutterbar assembly, said cutterbar drive including a rear gearbox fixed in a location offset from the support arm pivot axis, said drive shaft being extendable to accommodate flexing of the cutterbar, said forward gearbox including an input shaft drivingly connected to the drive shaft and cooperating therewith to define a first angle therebetween that varies within an angular range as the cutterbar assembly flexes, said rear gearbox including an output shaft drivingly connected to the drive shaft and cooperating therewith to define a second angle that generally falls within the range.
