A flight deck display system for an aircraft, comprising:a processor configured to receive data representative of an aircraft approach category at an airport and configured, in response thereto, to supply one or more protected airspace image rendering display commands; anda display device coupled to receive the protected airspace image rendering display commands and configured, in response thereto, to render an image representative of overall area of a protected airspace associated with the aircraft approach category for the airport,wherein the display device displays the overall area of the protected airspace as a geometric shape formed of a single, contiguous boundary line that includes arc segments and straight lines that are tangent to predetermined points on each arc segment, each arc segment having a fixed radius that depends on the aircraft approach category at the airport.
