System for drying a tissue or hygiene web. The system includes a permeable structured fabric carrying the web over a drying apparatus. A permeable dewatering fabric contacts the web and is guided over the drying apparatus. A mechanism is used to apply pressure to the permeable structured fabric, the web, and the permeable dewatering fabric at the drying apparatus. This Abstract is not intended to define the invention disclosed in the specification, nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

1. A method of pressing and drying a paper web, the method comprising: pressing, with a pressure producing element, the paper web between at least one first fabric and at least one second fabric; andsimultaneously moving a fluid through the paper web and the at least one first and second fabrics in an area of the pressure producing element, wherein the pressing occurs in an elongated nip. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said pressure producing element comprises a device which applied a vacuum. 3. The method of claim 2, wherein said vacuum is greater than approximately 0.5 bar. 4. The method of claim 3, wherein said vacuum is greater than approximately 1 bar. 5. The method of claim 4, wherein said vacuum is greater than approximately 1.5 bar. 6. A method of pressing and drying a paper web, the method comprising: pressing, with a pressure producing element, the paper web between at least one first fabric and at least one second fabric; andsimultaneously moving a fluid through the paper web and the at least one first and second fabrics in an area of the pressure producing element, wherein said pressing occurs for a dwell time which is equal to or greater than approximately 40 ms. 7. The method of claim 6, wherein said dwell time is equal to or greater than approximately 50 ms. 8. The method of claim 6, wherein said simultaneously moving occurs for a dwell time which is equal to or greater than approximately 40 ms. 9. The method of claim 8, wherein said dwell time is equal to or greater than approximately 50 ms. 10. A method of drying a paper web in a press arrangement, the method comprising: moving the paper web, disposed between at least one first fabric and at least one second fabric, between a support surface and a pressure producing element; andmoving a fluid through the paper web, the at least one first and second fabrics, and the support surface in an area of the pressure producing element, wherein the pressing occurs in an elongated nip formed on one side by a tensioned permeable fabric. 11. The method of claim 10, wherein said pressure producing element comprises a device which applies a vacuum. 12. The method of claim 11, wherein said vacuum is greater than approximately 0.5 bar. 13. The method of claim 12, wherein said vacuum is greater than approximately 1 bar. 14. The method of claim 13, wherein said vacuum is greater than approximately 1.5 bar. 15. A method of drying a paper web in a press arrangement, method comprising: moving the paper web, disposed between at least one first fabric and at least one second fabric, between a support surface and a pressure producing element;moving a fluid through the paper web, the at least one first and second fabrics, and the support surface in an area of the pressure producing element; andpressing for a dwell time which is equal to or greater than approximately 40 ms. 16. The method of claim 15, wherein said dwell time is equal to or greater than approximately 50 ms. 17. A method of drying a paper web in a press arrangement, the method comprising: moving the paper web, disposed between at least one first fabric and at least one second fabric, between a support surface and a pressure producing element; andmoving a fluid through the paper web, the at least one first and second fabrics, and the support surface in an area of the pressure producing element, wherein the moving the paper web occurs for a dwell time which is equal to or greater than approximately 40 ms. 18. The method of claim 17, wherein said dwell time is equal to or greater than approximately 50 ms. 19. A method of pressing and drying a paper web, the method comprising: pressing, with a pressure producing element, the paper web between at least one first fabric and at least one second fabric; andmoving a fluid through the paper web and the at least one first and second fabrics in an area of the pressure producing element, wherein the pressure producing element is located adjacent the first fabric applies pressure to a surface moving with the first fabric, andwherein a device causing the fluid to move through said web while arranged between said first and second fabrics is located adjacent the second fabric, andwherein the pressing occurs in an elongated nip formed between a tensioned permeable fabric and a roll. 20. The method of claim 19, wherein the paper web is a tissue or hygiene web and the device causing the fluid to move through said web while arranged between said first and second fabrics comprises at least one vacuum zone arranged inside the roll.
