In some embodiments, the anchors provide pull-out resistance, stability and/or maximize contact with tissue involving a minimum amount of penetration. In some embodiments, delivery methods are minimally invasive and include linear, lateral, and off-angle implantation or driving of anchors along, against or within tissue surfaces.

An anchor system for establishing an anchor along an endplate adjacent an intervertebral disc, comprising: a prosthetic device; anda bone anchor,wherein the bone anchor is rotationally coupled to the prosthetic device,wherein the prosthetic device is configured to repair the intervertebral disc,wherein the bone anchor is configured for insertion into an outer surface of a vertebral body and for presenting an attachment site along an endplate of the vertebral body,wherein the outer surface is offset at an angle substantially perpendicular to the endplate,wherein the bone anchor comprises a neck,wherein said neck has a length defined by a sharpened leading edge and a trailing end,wherein said neck comprises an attachment site along at least a portion of its length,wherein said attachment site is attachable to the prosthetic device,wherein said attachment site is configured to extend above the endplate,wherein said neck comprises a bottom portion terminating in two or more keels,wherein said keels are configured for pull-out resistance and stability by presenting a larger surface area below the endplate and embedded in the outer surface of the vertebral body,wherein said keels form an angle of about 10 to about 180 degrees relative to each other;wherein each of said keels comprises sharpened leading edges and at least two friction zones,wherein said friction zones are configured for resting rotation and pull-out of the bone anchor,wherein said attachment site is offset relative to both the bone anchor's angle of insertion and said neck to present said attachment site along the endplate, while said keels are inserted into the outer surface of the vertebral body,wherein the sharpened leading edges of the keels are configured for advancement within the outer surface while the attachment site and the prosthetic device are simultaneously advanced along and across the endplate, andwherein the anchor is configured for countersinking within said outer surface such that no portion of said bone anchor lies beyond said outer surface. 2. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein said friction zones are on opposing surfaces and opposing ends of the keel. 3. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein the prosthetic device and the bone anchor form a unitary construct. 4. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the bone anchor or the prosthetic device is expandable. 5. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein the attachment site comprises at least one device selected from the group consisting of: a fabric, a wire, a linkage, a fastener component, a hook eye, a loop, and a plate. 6. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein the prosthetic device comprises a polymer and the bone anchor comprises titanium. 7. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein the neck comprises two of said keels, wherein said two keels form an angle of about 180 degrees relative to each other. 8. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein the neck is perpendicular to said keels to form a “T” shape. 9. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein the prosthetic device comprises an anulus augmentation device. 10. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein the prosthetic device comprises a nucleus augmentation device. 11. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the prosthetic device and the bone anchor comprises a biologically active or therapeutic agent. 12. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein the prosthetic device comprises a polymer. 13. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein the bone anchor further comprises a bone engagement portion. 14. The anchor system of claim 12, wherein said bone engagement portion comprises at least one barb, hook, teeth, spikes, or angled projection. 15. The anchor system of claim 12, wherein said bone engagement portion comprises an expansion mechanism that provides a mushrooming effect for enhanced pull-out resistance. 16. The anchor system of claim 12, wherein said bone engagement portion comprises one or more protrusions. 17. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein the bone anchor is at least partially constructed from a material selected from the group consisting of one or more of the following: nickel titanium alloy, titanium, cobalt chrome alloy, and steel. 18. The anchor system of claim 1, wherein said keels together form a plate-like keel portion.
