A system and method, comprising providing a speech engine running on a computer system supporting an interface selected from the group consisting of one or more of a text-to-speech interface and a speech-to-text interface; presenting to a user through a user interface, an interactive advertisement, the interactive advertisement at least one of: presenting a speech output derived from a text file received from a server to a user; and receiving a speech input which is converted to text in dependence on a data file defining at least one of a vocabulary and a grammar, the speech input converted to text being communicated to an advertisement server.

The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said speech engine has a speech-to-text function and has a text output, further comprising a communication port configured to communicate the speech engine output to an advertisement server. 3. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said user interface is configured to present a speech output. 4. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said user interface is configured to receive a speech input for communication to the speech engine. 5. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein at least one user interface function is provided in addition to presenting said interactive advertisement. 6. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said user interface comprises a graphic user interface. 7. The apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said graphic user interface comprises at least one of a web browser window and a banner window of a graphic user interface. 8. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said user interface is configured to present said interactive advertisement by an adware subsidized program. 9. The apparatus according to claim 8, wherein said adware subsidized program comprises said speech engine. 10. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said interactive advertisement is selected at least in part based on a user profile. 11. The apparatus according to claim 10, wherein said user profile is generated at least in part implicitly based on observation of a user. 12. The apparatus according to claim 10, wherein said user profile is generated at least in part explicitly based on input received from a user. 13. The apparatus according to claim 10, wherein said user profile is generated at least in part by a remote system. 14. A method, comprising: providing a speech engine running on a computer system supporting a speech recognition interface configured to present a recognized speech output; andpresenting to a user through a user interface, an interactive advertisement selected from a plurality of interactive advertisements, each having an associated data file defining a vocabulary and a grammar for speech commands available for interaction with the interactive advertisement, each interactive advertisement being configured to interact based on at least a user command received as a speech input to the speech engine which is recognized by the speech engine; andinterpreting and processing the recognized speech output in dependence on the respective data file associated with the presented interactive advertisement defining the vocabulary and the grammar. 15. The method according to claim 14, wherein said recognized speech output is communicated to an advertising server. 16. The method according to claim 14, further comprising the step of presenting a speech output defined by a text file through the user interface. 17. The method according to claim 14, further comprising receiving the speech input for the speech engine through the user interface. 18. The method according to claim 14, wherein at least one user interface function is provided concurrently with presenting said advertisement. 19. The method according to claim 14, wherein the user interface comprises a graphic user interface. 20. The method according to claim 19, wherein said graphic user interface comprises at least one of a web browser window and a banner window of a graphic user interface. 21. The method according to claim 14, further comprising presenting the advertisement by an adware subsidized program. 22. The method according to claim 21, wherein the adware subsidized program comprises the speech engine. 23. The method according to claim 14, further comprising the step of selecting the interactive advertisement based on a user profile. 24. The method according to claim 23, further comprising the step implicitly generating the user profile, at least in part, based on observation of a user. 25. The method according to claim 23, further comprising the step explicitly generating the profile, at least in part, based on input received from a user. 26. The method according to claim 23, further comprising the step of generating the user profile, at least in part, by a remote system.
