A system for removably and adjustably mounting a device on an object is provided. The system for removably and adjustably mounting a device on an object, according to the present invention, includes an apparatus and method useful for removably and adjustably mounting one or more photovoltaic modules on an object such as a pole or roof, and includes one or more triple track rails. Also included are one or more connector brackets that are demountably attachable to the one or more triple track rails and to the object.

The system for removably and adjustably mounting a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claim 1, wherein in an operative configuration, a longitudinal axis of the one or more clamps is disposed perpendicular to the length of the rail. 3. The system for removably and adjustably mounting a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claim 1, wherein in an operative configuration, a plurality of discrete clamps are positioned along the length of the rail. 4. The system for removably and adjustably mounting a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claim 1, wherein a shoulder of the body includes the channel of one of the at least two tracks and wherein a side of the body includes the channel of another of the at least two tracks, and wherein a vertical plane along the length of the rail extends through the channel in the shoulder and the channel in the side. 5. An apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface, comprising: a footing grid, wherein the footing grid includes at least one keeper;a rail with at least two tracks, wherein the rail is removably mountable on the footing grid;and further wherein the rail is variably positionable on the at least one keeper; andone or more clamps variably positionable on the rail for demountably securing a photovoltaic module or other flat panel to the rail;and further wherein the rail has a body having a proximal end, a distal end, a hollow chamber between the proximal end and distal end, opposing sides, and opposing shoulders. 6. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 5, wherein the body has a first channel in one of the opposing sides for slidably engaging the rail to the at least one keeper. 7. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 6, wherein the first channel has a slot extending along a longitudinal axis of the rail. 8. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 7, wherein the slot is defined by opposing jaws. 9. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 6, wherein the body has a second channel in one of the opposing shoulders for slidably engaging the one or more clamps to the rail. 10. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 5, wherein the one or more clamps includes a plate and monolithic opposing side walls extending substantially in a same direction at substantially right angles from the plate. 11. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 10, wherein the opposing side walls include a lower inner edge and an upper face, and a fin extending from the upper face. 12. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 10, wherein the plate defines a hole. 13. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 5, wherein the one or more clamps includes a base, a descending member monolithically extending from the base, and an ascending member monolithically extending from the base in a direction substantially opposite a direction of the descending member. 14. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 13, wherein the ascending member further includes a fin. 15. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 13, wherein the base defines a hole. 16. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claim 5, wherein one of the opposing sides of the body includes a first channel, wherein one of the opposing shoulders of the body includes a second channel, and wherein a vertical plane along a length of the rail extends through the first channel and the second channel. 17. A system for removably and adjustably mounting a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface, comprising: a rail with at least two tracks;wherein each of the at least two tracks has a slot, wherein the slot in one of the at least two tracks is disposed substantially at a right angle to the slot in any other of the at least two tracks;and further wherein the rail has a body having a proximal end, a distal end, and a hollow chamber therebetween;and one or more clamps for connecting a photovoltaic module or other flat panel to the rail;wherein the one or more clamps includes a base, a descending member monolithically extending from the base, and an ascending member monolithically extending from the base in a direction substantially opposite a direction of the descending member. 18. The system for removably and adjustably mounting a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claims 1 or 17, further comprising a threaded fastener, wherein the base defines a hole and wherein in an operative configuration, the threaded fastener is disposed through the hole and in the rail. 19. The system for removably and adjustably mounting a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claims 1 or 17, wherein in an operative configuration, a bottom-most portion of the one or more clamps is positioned in contact with a top surface of the rail and an entirety of a remaining portion of the one or more clamps extends above the top surface of the rail. 20. The system for removably and adjustably mounting a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claim 17, wherein in an operative configuration, a longitudinal axis of the one or more clamps is disposed perpendicular to a length of the rail. 21. The system for removably and adjustably mounting a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claim 17, wherein in an operative configuration, a plurality of discrete clamps are positioned along a length of the rail. 22. The system for removably and adjustably mounting a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claim 17, wherein a side of the body includes a first channel, wherein a shoulder of the body includes a second channel, and wherein a vertical plane along a length of the rail extends through the first channel and the second channel. 23. An apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface, comprising: a footing grid, wherein the footing grid includes at least one keeper;a rail with at least two tracks, wherein the rail is removably mountable on the footing grid;wherein the rail has a body having a proximal end, a distal end, a hollow chamber between the proximal end and distal end, opposing sides, and opposing shoulders;and further wherein the body has a first channel in one of the opposing sides for slidably engaging the rail to the at least one keeper;and one or more clamps variably positionable on the rail for demountably securing a photovoltaic module or other flat panel to the rail;wherein the one or more clamps includes means for variably positioning the one or more clamps in a second channel of the body. 24. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 23, wherein the first channel has a slot extending along a longitudinal axis of the rail. 25. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 24, wherein the slot is defined by opposing jaws. 26. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 23, wherein the one or more clamps includes a plate and monolithic opposing side walls extending substantially in a same direction at substantially right angles from the plate. 27. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 26, wherein the opposing side walls include a lower inner edge and an upper face, and a fin extending from the upper face. 28. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 23, wherein the one or more clamps includes a base, a descending member monolithically extending from the base, and an ascending member monolithically extending from the base in a direction substantially opposite a direction of the descending member. 29. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface as recited in claim 28, wherein the ascending member further includes a fin. 30. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claim 23, wherein one of the opposing shoulders of the body includes a second channel, and wherein a vertical plane along a length of the rail extends through the first channel and the second channel. 32. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claims 5 or 23, wherein in an operative configuration, a bottom-most portion of the one or more clamps is positioned in contact with a top surface of the rail and an entirety of a remaining portion of the one or more clamps extends above the top surface of the rail. 33. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claims 5 or 23, wherein in an operative configuration, a longitudinal axis of the one or more clamps is disposed perpendicular to a length of the rail. 34. The apparatus for positioning a photovoltaic module or other flat panel on a surface according to claims 5 or 23, wherein in an operative configuration, a plurality of discrete clamps are positioned along a length of the rail.
