A cable management rack is provided within which or upon which a heat-generating device is mountable, and which encompasses a vertical rectangular frame open in a front and a rear of the frame. The rack includes a first upright and a second upright attached to opposite respective lateral sides of a base and a top member, and respective side-facing panels. Each of the panels defines a plurality of vent holes arranged in an array and permit the rack to receive a sideways flow of cooling air into a first side of the rack through one of the vent hole arrays for cooling a heat-generating device mounted between the panels, and permit the rack to discharge a sideways flow of exhaust air through the other vent hole array. Each of the array of vent holes may manifest a honeycomb pattern of vent holes, and each of the vent holes may manifest an hexagonal shape. A cable management system includes a cable management rack for accommodating a heat generating device, a first baffle mounted with respect to a first upright of the rack and for redirecting a rearward flow of cool air sideways from a space adjacent a front side of the rack, and a second baffle mounted with respect to a second upright of the rack and for redirecting a sideways flow of exhaust air from the rack and through the second upright into a space adjacent a rear side of the rack. A method of cooling a heat-generating device mounted in or on a cable management rack includes providing a sideways flow of cooling air into the rack and into the device.

The cable management system of claim 1, further comprising: at least a second cable management rack including a second vertical rectangular frame that defines (i) an open front, (ii) an open rear, and (iii) a second interior frame region, the second vertical rectangular frame including third and fourth uprights attached to opposite lateral sides thereof;wherein the first baffle is mounted in a vertical arrangement relative to the second cable management rack and configured and dimensioned to redirect a second separate sideways flow of exhaust air from the second interior frame region of the second vertical rectangular frame and through the third upright rearward into the rear space adjacent to a rear side of the second vertical rectangular frame. 3. The cable management system of claim 2, further comprising: at least a third cable management rack including a third vertical rectangular frame that defines (i) an open front, (ii) an open rear, and (iii) a third interior frame region, the third vertical rectangular frame including fifth and sixth uprights attached to opposite respective lateral sides thereof;wherein the second baffle is mounted with respect to the fifth upright of the third cable management rack and is configured and dimensioned to redirect a second rearward flow of cool air from the front space adjacent a front side of the third vertical rectangular frame sideways through the fifth upright into the third interior frame region of the third vertical rectangular frame. 4. The cable management system of claim 1, wherein the first baffle is positioned in a substantially vertical orientation along a lateral side of the first upright of the first vertical rectangular frame. 5. The cable management system of claim 4, wherein the first baffle extends a portion of the height of the lateral side of the first upright of the first vertical rectangular frame. 6. The cable management system of claim 5, further including a third baffle mounted in a vertical arrangement with the first baffle. 7. The cable management of claim 1, further comprising (i) a third baffle mounted with respect to the first upright above the first baffle, and (ii) a fourth baffle mounted with respect to the second upright above the second baffle. 8. The cable management system of claim 7, wherein the third baffle defines a third vertical height and a third upper end and includes a third cover at said third upper end, said third cover functioning to prevent flow of the cool air from extending beyond the third vertical height of the third baffle; and wherein said fourth baffle defines a fourth vertical height and a fourth upper end and includes a fourth cover at said fourth upper end, said fourth cover functioning to prevent flow of the exhaust air flow from extending beyond the fourth vertical height of the fourth baffle. 9. A method of cooling a heat-generating device mounted in a horizontal orientation in a cable management rack encompassing a vertical rectangular frame open in a front and a rear of the vertical rectangular frame and including respective first and second uprights attached to opposite respective lateral sides of a base and a top member, the method comprising: receiving a rearward flow of cool air from a front space adjacent a front side of the vertical rectangular frame and into a first lateral space outside of the vertical rectangular frame and lateral to the first upright;vertically bounding the rearward flow of cool air in the first lateral space with a first cover that extends laterally outward from the first upright into the first lateral space;redirecting the rearward flow of cool air sideways through the first upright and into the heat-generating device;receiving a sideways flow of exhaust air passing out of the heat-generating device through the second upright in a second lateral space outside of the vertical rectangular frame and lateral to the second upright, vertically bounding the sideways flow of exhaust air in the second lateral space with a second cover that extends laterally outward from the second upright into the second lateral space; andredirecting the sideways flow in the second lateral space rearward to a rear space adjacent a rear side of the vertical rectangular frame. 10. The method of cooling a heat-generating device according to claim 9, further comprising: receiving another rearward flow of cool air from the front space adjacent the front side of the vertical rectangular frame and redirecting the another rearward flow of cool air sideways through the first upright and into a second heat-generating device in the cable management rack; andredirecting another sideways flow of exhaust air passing out of the second heat-generating device, and through the second upright, rearward to the rear space adjacent the rear side of the vertical rectangular frame. 11.
