A projectile positioned proximate an underground target, the projectile being one of an array of projectiles, the projectile including: at least one transducer for communicating acoustical signals through the ground, the at least one transducer being configured to transmit a first acoustical signal to at least one other projectile in the array and receive a second acoustical signal from the at least one other projectile;a processor for controlling the communication of the at least one transducer and calculating a time delay between the transmission of the first acoustical signal and the reception of the second acoustical signal;a communication module configured to provide communication between the at least one transducer and the processor; anda clock configured to synchronize communication between the at least one transducer and the at least one other projectile,wherein the processor is configured to determine a location of the projectile relative to the array of projectiles based on the time delay. 2. The projectile of claim 1, wherein the transducer communicates signals in a substantially omni-directional pattern. 3. The projectile of claim 1, wherein the at least one transducer includes a transmitting transducer and a receiving transducer. 4. The projectile of claim 1, wherein the at least one transducer is a piezoelectric transducer. 5. The projectile of claim 1, wherein the projectile is positioned in the ground, the at least one transducer being substantially in contact with the ground. 6. The projectile of claim 1, further comprising a shock absorber operably coupled to the at least one transducer. 7. The projectile of claim 1, wherein the processor is a master computer for controlling the array of projectiles. 8. The projectile of claim 1, further comprising a kinetic energy pulse generator in communication with the processor, the processor controlling activation of the pulse generator. 9. The projectile of claim 8, wherein the kinetic energy pulse generator is an explosive configured to destroy a target. 10. The projectile of claim 1, wherein the projectile is configured to transmit a pulse to a target and receive a reflection from the target, the processor calculating the location of the target based on the reflection. 11. The projectile of claim 1, wherein the projectile is launched in the air from a remote location. 12. The projectile of claim 1, further comprising a shell and a coupling fluid received within the shell and selectively discharged from the shell to facilitate seismic coupling between the shell and the ground. 13. The projectile of claim 12, further comprising a discharge device received within the shell and configured to force the coupling fluid through holes formed within the shell. 14. A projectile configured for airborne deployment, the projectile including: a shell;a transducer received within the shell and configured to communicate acoustical signals through the shell and into the ground;a processor for controlling operation of the transducer;a coupling fluid received within the shell and selectively discharged from the shell to facilitate seismic coupling between the shell and the ground; anda discharge device operably coupled to the processor and configured to force the coupling fluid through holes formed within the shell. 15. The projectile of claim 14, further comprising a clock configured to synchronize communication between the transducer and at least one other projectile. 16. The projectile of claim 14, further comprising a communication module configured to provide communication between the transducer and the processor. 17. The projectile of claim 14, further comprising a kinetic energy pulse generator in communication with the processor, the processor controlling activation of the pulse generator. 18. The projectile of claim 14, wherein the kinetic energy pulse generator is an explosive configured to destroy a target.
