1. A system for anchoring a device in a body lumen or cavity, comprising: a sheath having at least one side opening;a rotatable element disposed within the sheath; andat least one projection extending radially from the rotatable element, wherein rotation of the rotatable element with respect to the sheath pushes a distal end of the projection radially outwardly through the opening and into the body lumen or cavity, the distal end of one of the at least one projection having a suture carrying feature, and wherein the at least one projection is formed from a shape memory material, and wherein the at least one projection springs radially outwardly as it passes outwardly through the side opening as the rotatable element is rotated with respect to the sheath when the at least one projection is exposed to a temperature change. 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one projection is attached to the rotatable element. 3. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one projection is integrally formed with the rotatable element. 4. The system of claim 1, wherein the shape memory material is Nitinol. 5. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one projection comprises four projections disposed at 90 degrees to one another around the rotatable element. 6. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one side opening comprises a plurality of side openings disposed longitudinally along the length of the sheath. 7. The system of claim 1, wherein the projection extend radially in a plane that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the system. 8. The system of claim 5, wherein each of the projections further comprises a suture-carrying feature on a distal end. 9. A method of performing an arteriotomy closure, comprising: inserting a distal end of a device having a sheath with a side opening, a rotatable element within the sheath, and at least one projection having a suture-carrying feature thereon extending radially from the rotatable element, the suture-carrying feature attached to an end of a suture, wherein rotation of the rotatable element with respect to the sheath pushes the distal end of the projection radially outwardly through the opening into an artery, and wherein the at least one projection is formed from a shape memory material, and wherein the at least one projection springs radially outwardly as it passes outwardly through the side opening as the rotatable element is rotated with respect to the sheath when the at least one projection is exposed to a temperature change;advancing a needle through a wall of the artery and into the suture-carrying feature; andwithdrawing the needle through the wall of the artery to pull the end of the suture through the wall of the artery. 10. The method of claim 9, wherein the at least one projection having a suture-carrying feature thereon is a pair of projections, and wherein withdrawing the needle through the wall of the artery to pull the end of the suture through the wall of the artery comprises withdrawing a pair of needles through the wall of the artery, to pull a pair of suture ends through the wall of the artery. 11. The method of claim 9, wherein the suture-carrying feature is a cuff at an end of the suture. 12. A system for anchoring a device in a body lumen or cavity, comprising: a sheath having at least one side opening;a rotatable element disposed within the sheath; andat least one projection extending radially from the rotatable element and being extendable radially outwardly through the at least one side opening and into the body lumen or cavity with rotation of the rotatable element, the at least one projection being formed from a shape memory material, wherein the at least one projection being configured to spring radially outwardly as it passes outwardly through the at least one side opening as the rotatable element is rotated with respect to the sheath when the at least one projection is exposed to a temperature change, a distal end of the at least one projection having a suture carrying feature. 13. The system of claim 12, wherein the at least one projection further comprises more than one projection, and wherein each of the projections further comprises at least one suture-carrying feature. 14. The system of claim 12, wherein the at least one projection is wrapped around the rotatable element. 15. The system of claim 12, wherein the at least one projection extends from the at least one side opening in a plane transverse to a longitudinal axis of the rotatable element. 16. The system of claim 12, wherein the at least one projection wraps around a circumference of the sheath. 17. The system of claim 12, wherein the at least one projection extends approximately half way around a circumference of the sheath. 18. The system of claim 12, wherein the at least one projection includes a proximal portion adjacent the rotatable element and a distal portion spaced apart from the rotatably element and disposed outside the sheath in the extended configuration, the distal portion being straighter than a central portion of the at least one projection between the proximal portion and the distal portion. 19. The system of claim 12, wherein the shape memory material is Nitinol. 20. The system of claim 12, wherein the temperature change is a temperature change from a fluid passing through the body lumen or cavity.
