A software program originally stored in a measurement module and configured to be communicated to and run on a processing device that is detachably coupled to the measurement module, wherein the processing device includes a processor, a memory, a communication unit, and a display, the software program comprising: instructions for the processor to perform a system setup on the processing device, after the software has been communicated from the measurement module to the processing device, wherein the system setup prepares the processor to perform the steps of (a) receiving information related to diabetes management,(b) storing the received information related to diabetes management in the memory,(c) analyzing the stored information related to diabetes management, and(d) transmitting the analyzed information related to diabetes management and/or the stored information related to diabetes management using the communication unit. 2. The software program of claim 1, wherein the system setup further comprises instructions for the processor to present, via the display, one or more communications to a user of the processing device. 3. The software program of claim 2, wherein the one or more communications comprise one or more of an audible communication, a vibratory communication, a graphical communication and a text-based communication. 4. The software program of claim 2, wherein the one or more communications comprise a prompt for the entry of information related to diabetes management. 5. The software program of claim 4, wherein the prompt is a visual prompt. 6. The software program of claim 4, wherein the prompt is for the entry of dietary information, exercise information and/or medication intake information. 7. The software program of claim 4, wherein the prompt is for the entry of dietary information comprising meal time data and/or carbohydrate value. 8. The software program of claim 2, wherein the one or more communications comprise a treatment recommendation for a patient. 9. The software program of claim 2, wherein the one or more communications comprise an alert that a medication delivery to a patient is due. 10. The software program of claim 1, wherein the system setup further comprises instructions for the processor to present, using the display, a pre-defined drop-down list from which a user can select information items related to diabetes management. 11. The software program of claim 1, wherein the memory comprises an event database and the storing comprises entry of the received information related to diabetes management into the event database. 12. The software program of claim 11, wherein the event database comprises a logbook database configured to store glucose measurement data, exercise data and/or dietary data. 13. The software program of claim 12, wherein the logbook database is configured to store time and date tagged events. 14. The software program of claim 11, wherein the event database comprises a carbohydrate database configured to store default and/or user-entered carbohydrate data. 15. The software program of claim 1, wherein the received information related to diabetes management comprises glucose measurement information. 16. The software program of claim 15, wherein the measurement module comprises a test strip receptacle. 17. The software program of claim 1, wherein the system setup further comprises instructions for the processor to synchronize data stored in the memory of the processing device with data stored in a memory of a network computer. 18. A software program originally stored in a measurement module and configured to be communicated to and run on a processing device that is detachably coupled to the measurement module, wherein the processing device includes a processor, a memory, a communication unit, and a display, the software program comprising: instructions for the processor to perform a system setup on the processing device, after the software has been communicated from the measurement module to the processing device, wherein the system setup prepares the processor to perform the steps of (a) receiving information related to diabetes management, the information related to diabetes management comprising glucose measurement information, wherein the receiving comprises receiving the glucose measurement information from a glucose measurement module comprising a test strip receptacle,(b) storing the received information related to diabetes management in the memory,(c) analyzing the stored information related to diabetes management, and(d) transmitting the analyzed information related to diabetes management and/or the stored information related to diabetes management using the communication unit.
