The system of claim 12, wherein the plurality of solar panels are attached to a nautical stay of a sailboat, and the stay is fixed at one end to a hull of the sailboat and at a second end to a mast of the sailboat. 14. The system of claim 13, wherein the mast is a telescoping mast. 15. The system of claim 12, wherein each of the plurality of solar panels includes at least one photovoltaic panel. 16. The system of claim 12, wherein the plurality of solar panels are attached to each other via a hinge to allow the solar panels to be stacked when not in use. 17.
