The auxiliary drive circuit of claim 1 wherein the first energy storage device has an output voltage, and wherein the second voltage is greater than the output voltage. 3. The auxiliary drive circuit of claim 1 wherein the second voltage is less than the first voltage. 4. The auxiliary drive circuit of claim 1 further comprising a second energy storage device coupled to the auxiliary bus and to the second DC-to-DC voltage converter, the second energy storage device configured to supply electrical power to the auxiliary bus; wherein the second DC-to-DC voltage converter is further configured to convert the electrical power supplied by the second energy storage device to a third voltage and to provide the third voltage to the second DC bus. 5. The auxiliary drive circuit of claim 4 further comprising a coupling device coupled between the second energy storage device and the second DC-to-DC voltage converter. 6. The auxiliary drive circuit of claim 1 further comprising a coupling device coupled between the first energy storage device and the first DC-to-DC voltage converter, wherein the coupling device comprises one of a contactor, a semiconductor switch, and a diode. 7. The auxiliary drive circuit of claim 6 wherein the coupling device comprises a set of contactors configured to de-couple the positive and negative terminals of the first energy storage device from the remainder of the auxiliary drive circuit. 8. The auxiliary drive circuit of claim 1 wherein the first DC-to-DC voltage converter comprises a first bi-directional buck/boost converter. 9. The auxiliary drive circuit of claim 8 wherein the second DC-to-DC voltage converter comprises a second bi-directional buck/boost converter; and further comprising a coupling device coupled between the auxiliary bus and the first DC bus. 10. The auxiliary drive circuit of claim 9 further comprising: a second energy storage device configured to output electrical power; anda third bi-directional buck/boost converter coupled to the second DC bus and coupled to the second energy storage device;wherein the third bi-directional buck/boost converter is configured to convert electrical power from the second energy storage device into a third voltage, which is output to the second DC bus, and further configured to receive electrical power from the second DC bus and provide electrical power to the second energy storage device. 11. The auxiliary drive circuit of claim 10 wherein the second energy storage device comprises one of a battery and an ultracapacitor. 12. The auxiliary drive circuit of claim 1 wherein the auxiliary load comprises one of a DC motor, a pump, an AC motor, and an air-conditioning motor. 13. The auxiliary drive circuit of claim 1 further comprising a second energy storage device coupled to the second DC bus and configured to store energy from, and supply energy to, each of the DC-to-DC voltage converters, wherein the second energy storage device comprises one of a battery and an ultracapacitor. 14. The system of claim 1 wherein the control device comprises one of a DC-to-DC converter, a thermo-switch, a flow sensor, and a pressure switch. 15. An auxiliary drive system comprising: a first energy storage device coupled to a first DC bus, the first energy storage device configured to output electrical power to the first DC bus;a first bi-directional buck/boost converter coupled to a second DC bus and to the first DC bus, the first bi-directional buck/boost converter configured to output a first voltage to the second DC bus;a voltage converter coupled between an auxiliary bus and the second DC bus, the voltage converter configured to convert the first voltage to a second voltage different from the first voltage, the second voltage output to the auxiliary bus;an auxiliary system coupled to the auxiliary bus and configured to receive an input voltage from the auxiliary bus, the auxiliary system comprised of a control device configured to independently control a voltage to the auxiliary bus; anda controller configured to regulate the first voltage output from the first bi-directional buck/boost converter and configured to regulate the second voltage output from the voltage converter. 16. The system of claim 15 further comprising a coupling device coupled between the first DC bus and the auxiliary bus, wherein the coupling device is configured to provide a voltage from the DC bus to the auxiliary bus suitable for operating the auxiliary system. 17. The system of claim 15 wherein the voltage converter comprises one of a second bi-directional buck/boost converter and a buck converter. 18. The system of claim 17 further comprising: a second energy storage device configured to supply electrical power to the auxiliary bus; anda third bi-directional buck/boost converter configured to deliver electrical power to the second energy storage device and to the second DC bus. 19. The system of claim 18 further comprising a coupling device coupled between the second energy storage device and the auxiliary bus, wherein the coupling device is configured to provide a voltage from the second energy storage device to the auxiliary bus suitable for operating the auxiliary system. 20. The system of claim 15 wherein the auxiliary system comprises a load that includes one of a DC motor, a pump, an AC motor, and an air-conditioning motor. 21. The system of claim 15 wherein the control device comprises one of a DC-to-DC converter, a thermo-switch, a flow sensor, and a pressure switch.
