The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein said drive bar further comprises said cutting member, wherein said cutting member comprises a cutting edge, and wherein said cutting edge and said stop define a predetermined distance therebetween. 4. The surgical instrument of claim 3, further comprising said staple cartridge, wherein said staple cartridge comprises a cutting slot configured to receive said cutting edge, wherein said cutting slot comprises an end, wherein said drive bar is configured to move said cutting edge toward said end when said drive bar is moved from said first position to said second position, wherein said end effector is rotatable between a first orientation, a second orientation, and a center orientation intermediate said first orientation and said second orientation, wherein said end and said datum portion define a first distance therebetween when said end effector is in said first orientation, wherein said end and said datum portion define a second distance therebetween when said end effector is in said second orientation, wherein said end and said datum portion define a third distance therebetween when said end effector is in said center orientation, wherein said first distance and said second distance are shorter than said third distance, and wherein said predetermined distance is shorter than said first distance, said second distance, and said third distance. 5. The surgical instrument of claim 3, further comprising said staple cartridge, wherein said staple cartridge comprises a cutting slot configured to receive said cutting edge, wherein said cutting slot comprises an end, wherein said cutting slot and said second guide slot define a guide path for said drive bar, wherein said drive bar is configured to move said cutting edge toward said end when said drive bar is moved from said first position to said second position, wherein said end effector is rotatable between a first orientation, a second orientation, and a center orientation intermediate said first orientation and said second orientation, wherein said guide path is defined by a first distance when said end effector is in said first orientation, wherein said guide path is defined by a second distance when said end effector is in said second orientation, wherein said guide path is defined by a third distance when said end effector is in said center orientation, wherein said first distance and said second distance are shorter than said third distance, and wherein said predetermined distance is shorter than said first distance, said second distance, and said third distance. 6. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein said drive bar further comprises said cutting member, wherein said cutting member comprises a cutting edge, wherein said surgical instrument further comprises said staple cartridge, wherein said staple cartridge comprises: a cutting slot configured to receive said cutting edge, wherein said cutting slot comprises an end, wherein said drive bar is configured to move said cutting edge toward said end when said drive bar is moved from said first position to said second position; anda plurality of staple cavities comprising an end staple cavity positioned adjacent to said end of said cutting slot, wherein said end staple cavity defines an end datum;wherein said end effector is rotatable between a first orientation, a second orientation, and a range of intermediate orientations intermediate said first orientation and said second orientation, and wherein said stop of said drive bar is configured to contact said datum portion of said guide member such that said cutting edge does not cross said end datum regardless of whether said end effector is in said first orientation, said second orientation, or said intermediate orientation. 7. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein said drive bar further comprises said cutting member, wherein said cutting member comprises a cutting edge, wherein said surgical instrument further comprises said staple cartridge, wherein said staple cartridge comprises: a cutting slot configured to receive said cutting edge, wherein said cutting slot comprises an end, wherein said drive bar is configured to move said cutting edge toward said end when said drive bar is moved from said first position to said second position; anda plurality of staple cavities comprising a datum staple cavity positioned adjacent to said end of said cutting slot, wherein said datum staple cavity defines a cut stop datum;wherein said end effector is rotatable between a first orientation, a second orientation, and a range of intermediate orientations intermediate said first orientation and said second orientation, and wherein said stop of said drive bar is configured to contact said datum portion of said guide member such that said cutting edge does not cross said cut stop datum. 8. A surgical instrument, comprising: a shaft, comprising: a housing;a first guide slot defined in said housing; anda drive member movable between a proximal position and a distal position, wherein said first guide slot is configured to slidably receive at least a portion of said drive member therein;an end effector rotatably coupled to said shaft about an articulation joint, wherein said end effector comprises a staple cartridge attachment portion configured to receive a staple cartridge; anda guide member configured to move relative to said shaft and said end effector, wherein said guide member comprises: a second guide slot configured to slidably receive at least a portion of said drive member;an end portion, wherein said end effector is configured to contact said end portion and slide said guide member relative to said shaft and said end effector; anda datum portion;wherein said drive member further comprises a stop configured to engage said datum portion of said guide member to limit relative movement between said drive bar and said end effector. 9. The surgical instrument of claim 8, wherein said end effector is rotatable about said articulation joint in a first direction and a second direction, and wherein said rotation of said end effector in said first direction or said second direction is configured to move said guide member toward said shaft. 10. The surgical instrument of claim 8, wherein said drive member further comprises a cutting member, wherein said cutting member comprises a cutting edge, and wherein said cutting edge and said stop define a predetermined distance therebetween. 11. The surgical instrument of claim 10, further comprising said staple cartridge, wherein said staple cartridge comprises a cutting slot configured to receive said cutting edge, wherein said cutting slot comprises an end, wherein said drive member is configured to move said cutting edge toward said end when said drive member is moved from said proximal position to said distal position, wherein said end effector is rotatable between a first orientation, a second orientation, and a center orientation intermediate said first orientation and said second orientation, wherein said end and said datum portion define a first distance therebetween when said end effector is in said first orientation, wherein said end and said datum portion define a second distance therebetween when said end effector is in said second orientation, wherein said end and said datum portion define a third distance therebetween when said end effector is in said center orientation, wherein said first distance and said second distance are shorter than said third distance, and wherein said predetermined distance is shorter than said first distance, said second distance, and said third distance. 12. The surgical instrument of claim 10, further comprising said staple cartridge, wherein said staple cartridge comprises a cutting slot configured to receive said cutting edge, wherein said cutting slot comprises an end, wherein said cutting slot and said second guide slot define a guide path for said drive member, wherein said drive member is configured to move said cutting edge toward said end when said drive member is moved from said proximal position to said distal position, wherein said end effector is rotatable between a first orientation, a second orientation, and a center orientation intermediate said first orientation and said second orientation, wherein said guide path is defined by a first distance when said end effector is in said first orientation, wherein said guide path is defined by a second distance when said end effector is in said second orientation, wherein said guide path is defined by a third distance when said end effector is in said center orientation, wherein said first distance and said second distance are shorter than said third distance, and wherein said predetermined distance is shorter than said first distance, said second distance, and said third distance. 13. The surgical instrument of claim 8, wherein said drive member further comprises a cutting member, wherein said cutting member comprises a cutting edge, wherein said surgical instrument further comprises said staple cartridge, wherein said staple cartridge comprises: a cutting slot configured to receive said cutting edge, wherein said cutting slot comprises an end, wherein said drive member is configured to move said cutting edge toward said end when said drive member is moved from said proximal position to said distal position; anda plurality of staple cavities comprising an end staple cavity positioned adjacent to said end of said cutting slot, wherein said end staple cavity defines an end datum;wherein said end effector is rotatable between a first orientation, a second orientation, and a range of intermediate orientations intermediate said first orientation and said second orientation, and wherein said stop of said drive member is configured to contact said datum portion of said guide member such that said cutting edge does not cross said end datum regardless of whether said end effector is in said first orientation, said second orientation, or said intermediate orientation. 14. The surgical instrument of claim 8, wherein said drive member further comprises a cutting member, wherein said cutting member comprises a cutting edge, wherein said surgical instrument further comprises said staple cartridge, wherein said staple cartridge comprises: a cutting slot configured to receive said cutting edge, wherein said cutting slot comprises an end, wherein said drive member is configured to move said cutting edge toward said end when said drive member is moved from said proximal position to said distal position; anda plurality of staple cavities comprising a datum staple cavity positioned adjacent to said end of said cutting slot, wherein said datum staple cavity defines a cut stop datum;wherein said end effector is rotatable between a first orientation, a second orientation, and a range of intermediate orientations intermediate said first orientation and said second orientation, and wherein said stop of said drive member is configured to contact said datum portion of said guide member such that said cutting edge does not cross said cut stop datum. 15. A surgical instrument for treating the tissue of a patient, comprising: a shaft, comprising: a housing;a guide channel defined in said housing; anda stop datum;an articulation joint;an end effector rotatably coupled to said shaft about said articulation joint, wherein said end effector comprises: a distal end;a plurality of jaws configured to capture tissue therebetween; anda staple cartridge attachment portion configured to receive a staple cartridge; anda drive member slidably positioned within said guide channel, wherein said drive member is movable between a proximal position and a distal position during a full firing motion to eject staples from the staple cartridge, and wherein said drive member comprises: a cutting edge configured to cut the tissue captured between said jaws from a proximal point to a final distal point during the full firing motion of said driver member; anda stop configured to engage said stop datum when said cutting edge reaches said final distal point, wherein the full firing motion of said drive member ends when the stop engages said stop datum, and wherein said cutting edge is located a predefined distance from said stop. 16. The surgical instrument of claim 15, further comprising said staple cartridge. 17. A surgical instrument for treating the tissue of a patient, comprising: a shaft, comprising: a housing;a guide channel defined in said housing; anda stop datum;an articulation joint;an end effector rotatably coupled to said shaft about said articulation joint, wherein said end effector comprises: a distal end;a plurality of jaws configured to capture tissue therebetween; anda staple cartridge attachment portion configured to receive a staple cartridge;a drive member slidably positioned within said guide channel, wherein said drive member is movable between a proximal position and a distal position during a firing motion to eject staples from the staple cartridge, and wherein said drive member comprises: a cutting edge configured to cut the tissue captured between said jaws; anda stop configured to engage said stop datum to end said firing motion, wherein said cutting edge is located a predefined distance from said stop; anda guide member positioned within said articulation joint, wherein said guide member comprises a second guide channel, wherein said drive member is slidably positioned within said second guide channel, and wherein said guide member is configured to slide relative to said end effector. 18. A surgical instrument comprising: a shaft;an end effector pivotably coupled to said shaft about an articulation joint, wherein said end effector is configured to receive a fastener cartridge;a guide member configured to move relative to said shaft and said end effector, said guide member comprising: a guide slot; anda datum; anda drive bar movably positioned in said shaft and said guide slot of said guide member, wherein said drive bar is configured to operably move a cutting member in said end effector, and wherein said drive bar comprises a stop configured to operably engage said datum of said guide member to limit the movement of said cutting member in said end effector. 19. A surgical instrument comprising: a shaft comprising a datum;an articulation joint;an end effector rotatably coupled to said shaft about said articulation joint, wherein said end effector is configured to receive a fastener cartridge;a guide member configured to float within said articulation joint and configured to move relative to said end effector, wherein said guide member comprises a guide channel; anda drive member, wherein said shaft and said guide channel in said guide member are configured to receive at least a portion of said drive member, wherein said drive member is configured to operably move a cutting edge in said end effector, and wherein said drive member further comprises a stop configured to operably engage said datum to limit the movement of said cutting edge in said end effector.
