Apparatus is disclosed for applying negative pressure to a wound site to promote healing. The apparatus includes a porous pad for application to the wound, a suction tube linking the porous pad to a source of negative pressure, a container for collecting fluid exudate from the wound interposed between the porous pad and the source of negative pressure and a quick disconnect connector linking a first section of the suction tube leading to the porous pad with a second section leading to the container, said connector comprising two separable and non-interchangeable parts, said first section of the suction tube comprising a multi-lumen tube, one lumen being provided for applying suction to the porous pad and another being provided for monitoring pressure, said multi-lumen tube being fixedly attached at one end to the container and at the other end to one of said separable parts, said one separable part including sealing means whereby the lumens are connected in air-tight manner to said second section of the suction tube.

1. A negative pressure therapy system for a wound, comprising: a porous pad;a source of reduced pressure;a suction tube comprising a single lumen tube and a multi-lumen tube adapted to fluidly connect the porous pad to the source of reduced pressure and a sensor, the single lumen tube having a first end fluidly connected to the porous pad and a second end, and the multi-lumen tube having a first end and a second end with at least two lumens extending therebetween, including a first lumen fluidly connected to the source of reduced pressure and a second lumen fluidly connected to the sensor at the first end of the multi-lumen tube; anda connector comprising (i) a first part and a second part, each part having a first end separable from and non-interchangeable with the first end of the other part, the first part having a second end fluidly connected to the second end of the single lumen tube and the second part having a second end fluidly connected to the first and second lumens at the second end of the multi-lumen tube; and (ii) means for sealing the first end of the first part and the first end of the second part when separably connected whereby the single lumen tube is in fluid communication with the at least two lumens of the multi-lumen tube. 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the multi-lumen configuration is a side-by-side lumen configuration. 3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the multi-lumen configuration is a coaxial lumen configuration. 4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the connector includes a gasket, and the first part is adapted to be compressed against the gasket when coupled to the second part. 5. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the gasket is an o-ring. 6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first part includes a reversibly sealable membrane to seal the single lumen tube when the first part is not coupled to the second part. 7. A negative pressure therapy apparatus for a wound, comprising: a porous pad for application to the wound;a pressure sensor;a suction tube comprising a single lumen tube having one end fluidly connected the porous pad, and a multi-lumen tube having at least two lumens including a first lumen having one end fluidly connected to the pressure sensor and a second lumen having one end fluidly connected a source of reduced pressure; anda quick disconnect connector comprising a first part and a second part being separable and non-interchangeable and fluidly connecting the single lumen tube to the multi-lumen tube, the first part being fluidly connected to the other end of the single lumen tube and the second part being fluidly connected to the other ends of the first lumen and the second lumen, and further comprising sealing means to provide a substantially air-tight connection between the single lumen tube and the multi-lumen tube. 8. The apparatus of claim 7 further comprising an adapter having a flange portion for application of reduced pressure to the porous pad, and a spout portion fluidly coupled between the flange portion and the single lumen tube. 9. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the first part and the second part of the quick disconnect connector include respective parts of a bayonet fitting for connection and disconnection. 10. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the sealing means includes a tubular projection attached to the second part, the tubular projection adapted to extend through the first part into the single lumen to engage with the single lumen in a sealing manner. 11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the tubular projection has a needle end. 12. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the multi-lumen tube has a side-by-side lumen configuration. 13. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the multi-lumen tube has a coaxial lumen configuration. 14. The apparatus of claim 7, further comprising a container positioned between the source of reduced pressure and the porous pad, wherein the first part and the second part couple to form a seal between the porous pad and the container. 15. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the second lumen of the multi-lumen tube connected to the source of reduced pressure is a central lumen. 16. The apparatus of claim 15, further comprising a sensor to measure pressure within the central lumen. 17. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the first lumen of the multi-lumen tube fluidly connected to the pressure sensor is a peripheral lumen. 18. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the pressure sensor measures pressure through the peripheral lumen at least at one of the following locations: the wound, adjacent to the wound, and proximal the wound. 19. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein at least a portion of the first part and the second part is made from at least one of PVC, polypropylene, and ABS.
