An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes an interior mirror reflective element and a plurality of icons viewable through a glass substrate of the mirror reflective element by a person viewing the front surface of the mirror reflective element. The icons are arranged behind and along a lower portion of the mirror reflective element, and adjacent ones of the plurality of icons are spaced from and local to one another. A portion of the mirror reflector of the reflective element is viewable between and at least partially around the icons when the interior rearview mirror assembly is normally mounted in the vehicle and viewed by a driver of the vehicle. A plurality of user inputs are associated with respective ones of the icons and are disposed generally local to the respective ones of the icons in a cognitively associated manner.

An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle, said interior rearview mirror assembly comprising: an interior mirror reflective element;wherein said mirror reflective element comprises a glass substrate having a front surface generally facing a driver of a vehicle equipped with said interior rearview mirror assembly when said interior rearview mirror assembly is normally mounted in the equipped vehicle, and wherein said mirror reflective element comprises a mirror reflector established at a surface of said mirror reflective element other than said front surface;a plurality of icons viewable through said glass substrate of said mirror reflective element by a person viewing said front surface of said mirror reflective element, wherein said icons are generally linearly arranged behind and along a lower portion of said mirror reflective element, and wherein adjacent ones of said plurality of icons are spaced from and local to one another, and wherein a portion of said mirror reflector is viewable between and at least partially around said icons when said interior rearview mirror assembly is normally mounted in the equipped vehicle and viewed by a driver of the equipped vehicle; anda plurality of user inputs, wherein said user inputs are associated with respective ones of said icons and are disposed generally local to said respective ones of said icons in a cognitively associated manner. 2. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said user inputs are disposed generally below said respective ones of said icons. 3. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 2, wherein said user inputs comprise user actuatable buttons disposed at a lower portion of a mirror casing of said interior rearview mirror assembly. 4. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 2, wherein said user inputs comprise user actuatable buttons disposed at a lower underside portion of a mirror casing of said interior rearview mirror assembly. 5. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said plurality of icons, when individually illuminated responsive to actuation of said respective user inputs, are backlit by at least one illumination source local to a respective icon. 6. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 5, wherein said mirror reflector comprises a transflective mirror reflector and wherein said icons are viewable by the driver of the equipped vehicle through said transflective mirror reflector of said mirror reflective element when backlit by said at least one illumination source local to the respective icon. 7. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said plurality of individual icons comprises at least three individual icons that are generally linearly disposed to form a row of individual icons at said mirror reflective element, and wherein respective ones of said at least three individual icons are physically and cognitively associated with respective ones of said individual user inputs. 8. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 7, wherein said at least three individual icons comprise first, second and third icons, and wherein said first icon is associated with a telephone function, said second icon is associated with a telematics concierge function, and said third icon is associated with an emergency call function. 9. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said plurality of icons and said plurality of user inputs are associated with a telematics system of the equipped vehicle. 10. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said mirror reflective element comprises a prismatic mirror reflective element and wherein said mirror reflector is established at a rear surface of said glass substrate. 11. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 10, wherein a mirror casing of said interior rearview mirror assembly houses a portion of a toggle assembly and wherein a further portion of said toggle assembly extends out from the rear of said mirror casing, said further portion of said toggle assembly comprising a mounting portion that is configured to mount said interior rearview mirror assembly in the equipped vehicle. 12. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein a mirror casing of said interior rearview mirror assembly houses at least one accessory behind said mirror reflective element. 13. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, comprising a mounting assembly for mounting said interior rearview mirror assembly in the equipped vehicle. 14. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said mirror reflective element comprises an electro-optic mirror reflective element, wherein said glass substrate comprises a front glass substrate and said electro-optic mirror reflective element comprises a rear glass substrate, said front glass substrate having said front surface and a second surface opposite said front surface and said rear glass substrate having a third surface and a fourth surface opposite said third surface, and wherein said electro-optic mirror reflective element comprises an electro-optic medium disposed between said second surface of said front glass substrate and said third surface of said rear glass substrate, and wherein said mirror reflector is established at one of said third and fourth surfaces of said rear glass substrate of said electro-optic mirror reflective element. 15. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 14, wherein said mirror reflector is established at said third surface of said rear glass substrate and contacts said electro-optic medium. 16. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 14, wherein said electro-optic mirror reflective element comprises an electrochromic mirror reflective element and wherein said electro-optic medium comprises an electrochromic medium disposed between said front and rear glass substrates and bounded by a perimeter seal. 17. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, comprising a video display device disposed behind said mirror reflective element and operable to display information for viewing by the driver of the equipped vehicle through said mirror reflective element, wherein said video display device comprises a backlit video display screen backlit by a plurality of light emitting diodes, and wherein said mirror reflector comprises a transflective mirror reflector and wherein said video display device displays information that is viewable by the driver of the equipped vehicle through said transflective mirror reflector of said mirror reflective element. 18. An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle, said interior rearview mirror assembly comprising: an interior mirror reflective element;wherein said mirror reflective element comprises a glass substrate having a front surface generally facing a driver of a vehicle equipped with said interior rearview mirror assembly when said interior rearview mirror assembly is normally mounted in the equipped vehicle, and wherein said mirror reflective element comprises a mirror reflector established at a surface of said mirror reflective element other than said front surface;a plurality of icons viewable through said glass substrate of said mirror reflective element by a person viewing said front surface of said mirror reflective element, wherein said icons are generally linearly arranged behind and along a lower portion of said mirror reflective element, and wherein adjacent ones of said plurality of icons are spaced from and local to one another, and wherein a portion of said mirror reflector is viewable between and at least partially around said icons when said interior rearview mirror assembly is normally mounted in the equipped vehicle and viewed by a driver of the equipped vehicle;a plurality of user inputs, wherein said user inputs are associated with respective ones of said icons and are disposed generally local to said respective ones of said icons in a cognitively associated manner;wherein said plurality of icons are generally linearly disposed to form a row of individual icons at said mirror reflective element, and wherein (a) a first one of said at least three individual icons is physically and cognitively associated with a first one of said user inputs, (b) a second one of said at least three individual icons is physically and cognitively associated with a second one of said user inputs and (c) a third one of said at least three individual icons is physically and cognitively associated with a third one of said user inputs; andwherein said first icon is associated with a telephone function, said second icon is associated with a telematics concierge function, and said third icon is associated with an emergency call function. 19. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 18, wherein said user inputs are disposed generally below said respective ones of said icons. 20. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 19, wherein said user inputs comprise user actuatable buttons disposed at a lower portion of a mirror casing of said interior rearview mirror assembly. 21. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 18, wherein said plurality of icons, when individually illuminated responsive to actuation of said respective user inputs, are backlit by at least one illumination source local to a respective icon. 22. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 18, wherein said mirror reflective element comprises a prismatic mirror reflective element and wherein said transflective mirror reflector is established at a rear surface of said glass substrate. 23. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 18, comprising a video display device disposed behind said mirror reflective element and operable to display information for viewing by the driver of the equipped vehicle through said transflective mirror reflector of said mirror reflective element. 24. An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle, said interior rearview mirror assembly comprising: an interior electrochromic mirror reflective element;wherein said electrochromic mirror reflective element comprises a front substrate and a rear substrate, said front substrate having a front surface generally facing a driver of a vehicle equipped with said interior rearview mirror assembly when said interior rearview mirror assembly is normally mounted in the equipped vehicle, and said rear substrate having a third surface and a fourth surface opposite said third surface, and wherein said electrochromic mirror reflective element comprises an electrochromic medium disposed between said second surface of said front glass substrate and said third surface of said rear glass substrate, and wherein said mirror reflective element comprises a mirror reflector established at one of said third and fourth surfaces of said rear substrate of said electrochromic mirror reflective element;first, second and third icons viewable through said glass substrate of said electrochromic mirror reflective element by a person viewing said front surface of said electrochromic mirror reflective element;wherein said first, second and third icons are generally linearly arranged behind and along a lower portion of said electrochromic mirror reflective element, and wherein said first icon is spaced from and local to said second icon and said second icon is spaced from and local to said third icon;wherein a portion of said mirror reflector is viewable between and at least partially around said first and second icons when said interior rearview mirror assembly is normally mounted in the equipped vehicle and viewed by a driver of the equipped vehicle, and wherein another portion of said mirror reflector is viewable between and at least partially around said second and third icons when said interior rearview mirror assembly is normally mounted in the equipped vehicle and viewed by a driver of the equipped vehicle;first, second and third user inputs;wherein said first user input is associated with said first icon and is disposed generally local to said first icon in a cognitively associated manner;wherein said second user input is associated with said second icon and is disposed generally local to said second icon in a cognitively associated manner;wherein said third user input is associated with said third icon and is disposed generally local to said third icon in a cognitively associated manner; andwherein said first, second and third icons, when individually illuminated responsive to actuation of said first, second and third user inputs, respectively, are backlit by at least one illumination source local to a respective icon. 25. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 24, wherein said first, second and third user inputs are disposed generally below respective ones of said first, second and third icons. 26. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 25, wherein said first, second and third user inputs comprise first, second and third user actuatable buttons disposed at a lower portion of a mirror casing of said interior rearview mirror assembly. 27. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 25, wherein said first, second and third user inputs comprise first, second and third user actuatable buttons disposed at a lower underside portion of a mirror casing of said interior rearview mirror assembly. 28. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 24, wherein said mirror reflector comprises a transflective mirror reflector and wherein said first, second and third icons are viewable by the driver of the equipped vehicle through said transflective mirror reflector of said mirror reflective element when backlit by said at least one illumination source local to the respective icon. 29. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 24, wherein said first icon is associated with a telephone function, said second icon is associated with a telematics concierge function, and said third icon is associated with an emergency call function. 30. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 24, comprising a video display device disposed behind said mirror reflective element and operable to display information for viewing by the driver of the equipped vehicle through said mirror reflective element. 31. An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle, said interior rearview mirror assembly comprising: an interior mirror reflective element;wherein said mirror reflective element comprises a glass substrate having a front surface generally facing a driver of a vehicle equipped with said interior rearview mirror assembly when said interior rearview mirror assembly is normally mounted in the equipped vehicle, and wherein said mirror reflective element comprises a mirror reflector established at a surface of said mirror reflective element;at least a first icon and a second icon viewable through said glass substrate of said mirror reflective element by a person viewing said front surface of said mirror reflective element;wherein said first and second icons are arranged behind and along a lower portion of said mirror reflective element, and wherein said first icon is spaced from and local to said second icon;wherein a portion of said mirror reflector is viewable between and at least partially around said first and second icons when said interior rearview mirror assembly is normally mounted in the equipped vehicle and viewed by a driver of the equipped vehicle;at least a first user input and a second user input;wherein said first user input is associated with said first icon and is disposed generally local to said first icon in a cognitively associated manner;wherein said second user input is associated with said second icon and is disposed generally local to said second icon in a cognitively associated manner;wherein said first and second icons and said first and second user inputs are associated with a telematics system of the equipped vehicle; andwherein said first and second icons, when individually illuminated responsive to actuation of said first and second user inputs, respectively, are backlit by at least one illumination source local to a respective icon. 32. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 31, wherein said first icon and said first user input are associated with one of (i) a telephone function, (ii) a telematics concierge function, and (iii) an emergency call function, and wherein said second icon and said second user input are associated with another of (i) a telephone function, (ii) a telematics concierge function, and (iii) an emergency call function. 33. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 31, wherein said mirror reflective element comprises a prismatic mirror reflective element and wherein said mirror reflector is established at a rear surface of said glass substrate. 34. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 31, wherein said mirror reflective element comprises an electrochromic mirror reflective element, wherein said glass substrate comprises a front glass substrate and said electrochromic mirror reflective element comprises a rear glass substrate, said front glass substrate having said front surface and a second surface opposite said front surface and said rear glass substrate having a third surface and a fourth surface opposite said third surface, and wherein said electrochromic mirror reflective element comprises an electrochromic medium disposed between said second surface of said front glass substrate and said third surface of said rear glass substrate, and wherein said mirror reflector is established at said third surface of said rear glass substrate of said electrochromic mirror reflective element. 35. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 31, wherein said first and second icons are arranged generally parallel to the lower portion of said mirror reflective element.
