The present invention relates to apparatus for methods for endovascularly replacing a patient's heart valve. The apparatus includes an expandable anchor with leaflet engagement elements on the proximal end of the anchor and a replacement valve. The leaflet engagement elements can be used to prevent distal migration and insure proper positioning of the apparatus.

1. A method for endovascularly replacing a patient's heart valve within a heart, the method comprising: endovascularly delivering an anchor and a replacement valve supported within the anchor towards a vicinity of the heart valve completely enveloped in a lumen of a delivery device in a collapsed delivery configuration;partially removing the anchor and replacement valve from the lumen of the delivery device;permitting blood to flow through the replacement valve when the replacement valve is in a first configuration and preventing blood from flowing through the replacement valve when the replacement valve is in a second configuration, wherein the permitting step occurs after the anchor and replacement valve are partially removed from the lumen of the delivery device and before the anchor is completely removed from the lumen of the delivery device; andexpanding, without an expansion balloon, the anchor to secure the anchor within the heart. 2. The method of claim 1 wherein partially removing the anchor and replacement valve from the delivery device comprises moving the delivery device proximally relative to the anchor to allow the anchor to self-expand towards an at-rest configuration outside of the delivery device. 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the permitting step comprises permitting blood flow into a coronary ostia of the heart after partially removing the anchor and replacement valve from the lumen of the delivery device. 4. The method of claim 1 further comprising repositioning the anchor within the vicinity of the heart valve after completely removing the anchor and replacement valve from the lumen of the delivery device and before final deployment of the anchor. 5. The method of claim 1 further comprising retrieving the anchor and the replacement valve from the patient after completely removing the anchor and replacement valve from the lumen of the delivery device and before final deployment of the anchor. 6. A method for endovascularly replacing a patient's heart valve, the method comprising: endovascularly delivering a replacement heart valve comprising an expandable anchor and a replacement valve towards a vicinity of the heart valve completely enveloped within a lumen of a delivery device with the anchor in a collapsed delivery configuration; andpermitting blood to flow through the replacement valve when the replacement valve is in a first configuration and preventing blood from flowing through the replacement valve when the replacement valve is in a second configuration, wherein the permitting step occurs after a distal end of the anchor exits the lumen of the delivery device but before a proximal end of the anchor exits the lumen of the delivery device. 7. The method of claim 6 further comprising allowing the distal end of the anchor to self-expand outside of the delivery device. 8. The method of claim 6 further comprising permitting blood to flow into coronary ostia of the heart before the proximal end of the anchor exits the delivery device. 9. The method of claim 6 further comprising repositioning the anchor within the vicinity of the heart valve after the permitting step and before the anchor is expanded to a fully deployed configuration. 10. The method of claim 6 further comprising retrieving at least the portion of the anchor into the lumen of the delivery device after the permitting step and before the anchor is expanded to a fully deployed configuration. 11. The method of claim 10 wherein the retrieving step comprises retrieving the entire anchor back into the lumen of the delivery device after the entire anchor has exited the lumen of the delivery device. 12. The method of claim 6 further comprising allowing the entire anchor to self-expand to an at-rest configuration outside of the delivery device. 13. A method for endovascularly replacing a patient's heart valve, the method comprising: endovascularly delivering a replacement heart valve comprising an expandable anchor and a replacement valve towards a vicinity of a patient's heart valve, wherein the expandable anchor has a proximal terminal end and a distal terminal end and is disposed within a lumen of a delivery device in a collapsed delivery configuration; wherein the lumen of the delivery device terminates at a distal opening; and permitting blood to flow through the replacement valve when the replacement valve is ina first configuration and preventing blood from flowing through the replacement valve when the replacement valve is in a second configuration, wherein the permitting step occurs after disposing the distal terminal end of the expandable anchor distal of the distal opening of the lumen but before disposing the proximal terminal end of the expandable anchor distal of the distal opening of the lumen.
