1. A method of decontaminating a wound surface, the method comprising the steps of: advancing sterile saline through a mixing chamber at a point of patient care, advancing a sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution into the mixing chamber at the point of patient care, mixing the sterile saline and the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution within the mixing chamber to create a sterile saline/cleansing solution mixture, advancing the sterile saline/cleansing solution mixture from the mixing chamber through a diffuser, andspraying a wound surface with the sterile saline/cleansing solution mixture, wherein advancing the sterile saline includes (i) advancing the sterile saline around a valve member to divert a flow of the sterile saline outwardly around the valve member, and (ii) moving the valve member from a closed position in which the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution is prevented from advancing into the mixing chamber to an opened position in which the sterile saline and the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution are permitted to advance into the mixing chamber. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of advancing the sterile saline around the valve member includes advancing the sterile saline around a cone-shaped valve member. 3. The method of claim 1, wherein a receptacle containing the sterile saline, a receptacle containing the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution, and a diffuser to spray the wound surface with the mixture are each fluidly coupled to the mixing chamber during the spraying step. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the spraying step includes spraying the wound surface with a non-pulsatile stream of the mixture at an impact pressure of about 8 to about 12 psi. 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution includes a biocompatible surfactant and a preservative. 6. A method of decontaminating a wound surface, the method comprising the steps of: advancing sterile saline through a mixing chamber at a point of patient care, advancing a sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution into the mixing chamber at the point of patient care, mixing the sterile saline and the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution within the mixing chamber to create a sterile saline/cleansing solution mixture, advancing the sterile saline/cleansing solution mixture from the mixing chamber through a diffuser, andspraying a wound surface with the sterile saline/cleansing solution mixture, wherein advancing the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution includes advancing the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution through a first inlet into an annular space upstream from the mixing chamber and out a plurality of first discharge ports into the mixing chamber. 7. The method of claim 6, wherein a receptacle containing the sterile saline, a receptacle containing the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution, and a diffuser to spray the wound surface with the mixture are each fluidly coupled to the mixing chamber during the spraying step. 8. The method of claim 6, wherein the spraying step includes spraying the wound surface with a non-pulsatile stream of the mixture at an impact pressure of about 8 to about 12 psi. 9. The method of claim 6, wherein the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution includes a biocompatible surfactant and a preservative. 10. A method of decontaminating a wound surface, the method comprising the steps of: advancing sterile saline through a mixing chamber at a point of patient care, advancing a sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution into the mixing chamber at the point of patient care, mixing the sterile saline and the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution within the mixing chamber to create a sterile saline/cleansing solution mixture, advancing the sterile saline/cleansing solution mixture from the mixing chamber through a diffuser, andspraying a wound surface with the sterile saline/cleansing solution mixture, wherein advancing the sterile saline creates a venturi effect to draw the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution into the mixing chamber. 11. The method of claim 10, wherein a receptacle containing the sterile saline, a receptacle containing the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution, and a diffuser to spray the wound surface with the mixture are each fluidly coupled to the mixing chamber during the spraying step. 12. The method of claim 10, wherein the spraying step includes spraying the wound surface with a non-pulsatile stream of the mixture at an impact pressure of about 8 to about 12 psi. 13. The method of claim 10, wherein the sterile, biocompatible cleansing solution includes a biocompatible surfactant and a preservative.
