A very small form factor consumer electronic product includes at least a single piece housing having an integral front and side walls that cooperate to form a cavity in cooperation with a front opening where an edge of the side walls define a rear opening and at least some of the edges have flanges. The consumer electronic product also includes an user input assembly having a size and shape in accordance with the front opening and a clip assembly having a size and shape in accordance with the rear opening and having an external user actionable clip, a plurality of internal hooking features, and a plurality of internal latching features. The clip assembly is secured by engaging at least some of the hooking features and the flanges on the edges of the housing and engaging the latching features and corresponding attachment features on the internal support plate.

A consumer electronic product, comprising: a seamless electrically conductive single piece housing having an integral front and side walls that cooperate to form a cavity in cooperation with a front opening, an edge of the side walls defining a rear opening, wherein at least some of the edges have flanges, the seamless electrically conductive single piece housing providing electrical grounding for at least one internal component of the consumer electronic product;a user input assembly having a size and shape in accordance with the front opening, the user input assembly comprising: a user input comprising a viewable portion having a substantially circular click wheel, the click wheel comprising an upraised annular region, the upraised annular region having a plurality of icons each identifying a specific operation performed by the consumer electronic product; and an interior portion having a member attached thereto; andan internal support plate, the internal support plate having an outward facing side onto which is attached the user input and an inward facing side having attachment features some of which are used to secure internal components of the consumer electronic product, wherein the outward facing surface of the internal support plate includes a plurality of switches each corresponding to one of the plurality of icons, wherein a press event at an icon causes the corresponding switch to generate a signal used to modify operations of the consumer electronic product; anda clip assembly, the clip assembly having a size and shape in accordance with the rear opening, the clip assembly comprising: an external user actionable clip;at least one internal hooking feature; anda plurality of internal latching features, wherein the clip assembly is secured in part to the consumer electronic product by engaging the at least one hooking feature and at least one of the flanges on the edges of the housing and engaging the latching features and corresponding attachment features on the internal support plate. 2. The consumer electronic product as recited in claim 1, wherein the secured internal components includes at least a printed circuit board on which are surface mounted a plurality of components to form a main logic board. 3. The consumer electronic product as recited in claim 2, further comprising a battery electrically coupled to the PCB, the battery providing power at least to the MLB. 4. The consumer electronic product as recited in claim 1, wherein the consumer electronic product is a media player. 5. The consumer electronic product as recited in claim 1, wherein the housing is formed of metal, the housing providing a chassis ground. 6. A method, comprising: assembling a media player by,providing a seamless electrically conductive housing, the seamless electrically conductive housing having a front opening, a rear opening, and at least one side wall having a plurality of openings each sized and placed to accommodate an external feature, the seamless electrically conductive housing providing electrical grounding for at least one internal component of the media player;electrically connecting a first component and a second component;mechanically securing together the electrically connected first and second components;inserting the mechanically secured first and second components into the rear opening such that the first component is aligned with the front opening; andsecuring a clip assembly to the first component and the second component to complete the assembly of the media player, the clip assembly comprising: at least one internal hooking feature; anda plurality of internal latching features, wherein the clip assembly is secured in part to the media player by engaging the at least one hooking feature and at least one flange on the edge of the housing and engaging the latching features and corresponding attachment features on an internal support plate of the media player, wherein securing the clip assembly comprises latching the clip assembly to the click wheel assembly; and snapping the clip assembly to the housing concurrently with the latching. 7. The method as recited in claim 6, wherein the first component is a click wheel assembly. 8. The method as recited in claim 7, wherein the second component is a printed circuit board. 9. The method as recited in claim 8, wherein the printed circuit board includes a number of components to form a main logic board, or MLB. 10. The method as recited in claim 6, wherein the securing requires no visible screws. 11. Non-transitory computer readable medium for storing a computer program used by a processor for assembling a media player, comprising: computer code for providing a seamless electrically conductive housing, the seamless electrically conductive housing having a front opening, a rear opening, and at least one side wall having a plurality of openings each sized and placed to accommodate an external feature, the seamless electrically conductive housing providing electrical grounding for at least one internal component of the media player;computer code for electrically connecting a click wheel assembly and a printed circuit board;computer code for mechanically securing together the electrically connected click wheel assembly and printed circuit board;computer code for inserting the mechanically secured click wheel assembly and printed circuit board into the rear opening such that the click wheel assembly is aligned with the front opening; andcomputer code for securing a clip assembly to the click wheel assembly and the printed circuit board to complete the assembly of the media player, the clip assembly comprising: at least one internal hooking feature; anda plurality of internal latching features, wherein the clip assembly is secured in part to the media player by engaging the at least one hooking feature and at least one flange on the edges of the housing and engaging the latching features and corresponding attachment features on an internal support plate of the media player, wherein the computer code for securing the clip assembly comprises computer code for latching the clip assembly to the click wheel assembly; and computer code for snapping the clip assembly to the housing concurrently with the latching. 12. A media player, comprising: a seamless electrically conductive housing, the electrically conductive housing having a front opening and a rear opening, the electrically conductive housing providing a chassis ground for at least one internal component of the media player;a click wheel assembly having a size and shape in accordance with the front opening, the click wheel assembly comprising: a circular click wheel having an outer surface, the outer surface displaying a plurality of icons each of which are associated with a specific media player operation;an internal support plate, the internal support plate comprising: an outward facing surface onto which is attached the circular click wheel, the outward facing surface having a plurality of sensors each electrically connected to a flex connector, each of the plurality of plurality of sensors associated with one of the plurality of icons, wherein when pressure is applied in proximity to one of the plurality of icons, the corresponding one of the plurality of sensors responds by providing a signal to the flex connector, andan inward facing surface having attachment features;a main logic board (MLB) assembly, the MLB assembly mechanically secured to the internal support plate using at least one of the attachment features, the MLB assembly comprising: a printed circuit board,a plurality of electrical components, at least one of which is a processor,an audio jack assembly, the audio jack assembly arranged to output an audio signal and to receive power, anda battery arranged to provide power at least to the main logic board, wherein the audio jack assembly and at least some of the plurality of electrical components are surface mounted to the PCB;a clip assembly, the clip assembly having a size and shape in accordance with the rear opening, the clip assembly comprising: a user actionable clip;at least one internal hooking feature; anda plurality of internal latching features, wherein the clip assembly is secured in part to the media player by engaging the at least one hooking feature and at least one of the flanges on the edges of the housing and engaging the latching features and corresponding attachment features on the internal support plate. 13. The media player as recited in claim 12, wherein the click wheel assembly is assembled and functionally tested prior to being incorporated into the media player during an assembly operation. 14. The media player as recited in claim 12, wherein media player further comprises: a playlist button; anda playlist tactile switch, wherein when the playlist button engages the playlist tactile switch, the tactile switch generates a playlist signal that is sent to the processor, wherein the processor responds to the playlist signal by retrieving a playlist from the memory device, decoding the playlist, and causing the audio jack assembly to output a decoded playlist audio signal to an external circuit coupled to the audio jack assembly. 15. The media player as recited in claim 12, wherein the media player further comprises: a hold switch assembly comprising: a hold button,a hold button armature, anda hold button tact switch connected to the hold button by way of the hold button armature, wherein in a first position, the hold button causes the processor to de-activate the click wheel assembly such that the processor ignores any signals from the plurality of sensors. 16. The media player as recited in claim 15, wherein the hold button is laterally displaced from the hold button tact switch. 17. The media player as recited in claim 12, wherein the media player is connected to a lanyard by way of the user actionable clip.
