A feminine hygiene article having a body-facing surface, a first end region a second end region, a topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, and a secondary topsheet interposed between the absorbent core and the topsheet, the feminine hygiene article being adapted for placement in an undergarment having a crotch portion bounded on opposite sides by portions of curved leg openings, the feminine hygiene article having a longitudinal centerline and a transverse centerline, the centerlines being perpendicular to one another in the plane of the feminine hygiene article when in a flat out configuration, the feminine hygiene article comprising at least one functional enhancement indicator visible from the body-facing surface, the functional enhancement indicator being printed on a surface of the secondary topsheet, wherein the functional enhancement indicator overlays at least a portion of at least one functionally-enhanced portion of the feminine hygiene article, wherein the at least one functionally-enhanced portion is provided on a layer of the feminine hygiene article beneath the secondary topsheet and is otherwise not perceptible as a functionally-enhanced portion to a user viewing the body-facing surface of the article, the functionally-enhanced portion comprising a region of at least one of enhanced absorbency, enhanced fluid capacity, enhanced leakage control, enhanced odor control, and enhanced surface treatment of lotions or skin care agents but not comprising a channel or embossment, and wherein the functional enhancement indicator is chosen from the group consisting of printed marks, colored marks, or visible indicia, and combinations thereof. 2. The feminine hygiene article of claim 1, wherein the feminine hygiene article comprises an absorbent core having a thickness of less than about 10 mm. 3. The feminine hygiene article of claim 1, wherein the feminine hygiene article is a sanitary napkin or pantyliner. 4. The feminine hygiene article of claim 1, wherein the feminine hygiene article is an incontinence pad. 5. The feminine hygiene article of claim 1, wherein the functional enhancement indicator is symmetric about the longitudinal centerline. 6. The feminine hygiene article of claim 1, wherein the functional enhancement indicator comprises a plurality of colored regions. 7. The feminine hygiene article of claim 6, wherein the plurality of colored regions are the same color. 8. The feminine hygiene article of claim 1, wherein the functional enhancement indicator comprises dots, speckles, stipples, a shade, a stripe, a shape, or combinations thereof. 9. The feminine hygiene article of claim 8, wherein the plurality of dots, speckles, stipples, a shade, a stripe, a shape, or combinations thereof are provided in a pattern of increasing density. 10. The feminine hygiene article of claim 1, wherein the absorbent core comprises the functionally-enhanced portion. 11. A feminine hygiene article having a body-facing surface, a first end region a second end region, a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, the feminine hygiene article being adapted for placement in an undergarment having a crotch portion bounded on opposite sides by portions of curved leg openings, the feminine hygiene article having a longitudinal centerline and a transverse centerline, the centerlines being perpendicular to one another in the plane of the feminine hygiene article when in a flat out configuration, the feminine hygiene article comprising at least one functional enhancement indicator visible from the body-facing surface, the functional enhancement indicator being printed on a surface of the topsheet, wherein the functional enhancement indicator overlays at least a portion of at least one functionally-enhanced portion of the feminine hygiene article, wherein the at least one functionally-enhanced portion is provided beneath the topsheet and is otherwise not perceptible as a functionally-enhanced portion to a user viewing the body-facing surface of the article, the functionally-enhanced portion comprising a region of at least one of enhanced absorbency, enhanced fluid capacity, enhanced leakage control, enhanced odor control, and enhanced surface treatment of lotions or skin care agents but not comprising a channel or embossment, and wherein the functional enhancement indicator is chosen from the group consisting of printed marks, colored marks, or visible indicia, and combinations thereof. 12. The feminine hygiene article of claim 11, wherein the feminine hygiene article comprises an absorbent core having a thickness of less than about 10 mm. 13. The feminine hygiene article of claim 11, wherein the functional enhancement indicator comprises a plurality of colored regions. 17. The feminine hygiene article of claim 16, wherein the plurality of colored regions are the same color. 18. The feminine hygiene article of claim 11, wherein the functional enhancement indicator comprises dots, speckles, stipples, a shade, a stripe, a shape, or combinations thereof. 19. The feminine hygiene article of claim 18, wherein the plurality of dots, speckles, stipples, a shade, a stripe, a shape, or combinations thereof are provided in a pattern of increasing density. 20. The feminine hygiene article of claim 11, wherein the absorbent core comprises the functionally-enhanced portion.
