A system for regulating flow of an electrically conductive fluid, the system comprising: a source of electrical power; andan electromagnetic flow regulator for regulating flow of an electrically conductive fluid, the electromagnetic flow regulator being electrically connectable to the source of electrical power, the electromagnetic flow regulator including: a plurality of magnetic conductors arranged in fixed relative location, the plurality of magnetic conductors defining therealong a fluid flow path for an electrically conductive fluid and defining therethrough a fluid inlet path for the electrically conductive fluid that is substantially orthogonal to the fluid flow path, the fluid inlet path being further defined by a plurality of flow holes defined in the plurality of magnetic conductors; anda field generation winding capable of carrying an electrical current, the field generation winding being electrically connectable to the source of electrical power, the field generation winding being electromagnetically couplable to the plurality of magnetic conductors such that at least one magnetic field is generatable by the field generation winding at the fluid inlet path. 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the fluid flow path is further defined inboard of the plurality of magnetic conductors. 3. The system of claim 1, wherein the field generation winding is disposed outboard of the plurality of magnetic conductors. 4. The system of claim 3, wherein the field generation winding includes a helical coil. 5. The system of claim 3, wherein the field generation winding includes a plurality of substantially circular coils. 6. The system of claim 3, further comprising: a plurality of magnetic nonconductors disposed between adjacent ones of the plurality of magnetic conductors. 7. The system of claim 6, wherein the fluid flow path is further defined along the plurality of magnetic nonconductors. 8. The system of claim 1, wherein the field generation winding includes a first plurality of electrical conductors that are disposed inboard of the plurality of magnetic conductors and a second plurality of electrical conductors that are disposed outboard of the plurality of magnetic conductors. 9. The system of claim 8, further comprising: a plurality of magnetic nonconductors disposed between adjacent ones of the plurality of magnetic conductors. 10. The system of claim 9, wherein the fluid flow path is further defined along the plurality of magnetic nonconductors. 11. The system of claim 9, wherein the fluid inlet path is further defined through the plurality of magnetic nonconductors. 12. A system for regulating flow of an electrically conductive fluid, the system comprising: a source of electrical power; andan electromagnetic flow regulator for regulating flow of an electrically conductive fluid, the electromagnetic flow regulator being electrically connectable to the source of electrical power, the electromagnetic flow regulator including: a frame;a plurality of magnetic conductors attached to the frame, the plurality of magnetic conductors defining therealong a fluid flow path for an electrically conductive fluid and defining therethrough a plurality of flow holes that define a fluid inlet path for the electrically conductive fluid that is substantially orthogonal to the fluid flow path; anda field generation winding capable of carrying an electrical current and disposed outboard of the plurality of magnetic conductors, the field generation winding being electrically connectable to the source of electrical power, the field generation winding being electromagnetically couplable to the plurality of magnetic conductors such that at least one magnetic field is generatable by the field generation winding at the fluid inlet path. 13. The system of claim 12, wherein the fluid flow path is further defined inboard of the plurality of magnetic conductors. 14. The system of claim 12, further comprising: a plurality of magnetic nonconductors attached to the frame and disposed between adjacent ones of the plurality of magnetic conductors. 15. The system of claim 14, wherein the fluid flow path is further defined along the plurality of magnetic nonconductors. 16. The system of claim 15, wherein the fluid flow path is further defined inboard of the plurality of magnetic nonconductors. 17. The system of claim 12, wherein the field generation winding includes a helical coil. 18. The system of claim 12, wherein the field generation winding includes a plurality of substantially circular coils. 19. A system for regulating flow of an electrically conductive fluid, the system comprising: a source of electrical power; andan electromagnetic flow regulator for regulating flow of an electrically conductive fluid, the electromagnetic flow regulator including: a frame;a plurality of magnetic conductors attached to the frame, the plurality of magnetic conductors defining therealong a fluid flow path for an electrically conductive fluid and defining therethrough a plurality of flow holes that define a fluid inlet path for the electrically conductive fluid that is substantially orthogonal to the fluid flow path; anda field generation winding including a first plurality of electrical conductors that are disposed inboard of the plurality of magnetic conductors and a second plurality of electrical conductors that are disposed outboard of the plurality of magnetic conductors, the field generation winding being electrically connectable to the source of electrical power, the field generation winding being electromagnetically couplable to the plurality of magnetic conductors such that at least one magnetic field is generatable by the field generation winding at the fluid inlet path. 20. The system of claim 19, further comprising: a plurality of magnetic nonconductors attached to the frame and disposed between adjacent ones of the plurality of magnetic conductors. 21. The system of claim 20, wherein the fluid flow path is further defined along the plurality of magnetic nonconductors. 22. The system of claim 20, wherein the fluid inlet path is further defined through the plurality of magnetic nonconductors. 23. The system of claim 22, wherein the plurality of flow holes are further defined through the plurality of magnetic nonconductors.
