An antio-ligative ergonomic type door-knob primarily of the institutional type, essentially serving to defeat the effort of a temporarily mentally-depressed room occupant from succeeding in committing self-hanging via contrived ensnaring by which to secure a cord like hanging-noose. Generic-variant embodiments of my anti-ligative doorknob are set forth, including both a circular and semi-circular ecutcheon-plate for I-shaped V-shaped Y-shaped X-shaped fin-levers, and also a non-finned hemispherical iteration. The novel critical minimum approximate 40-degree anti-ligative principle of my LIFESTAR™ doorknobs reliably prevents a person ensnaring any heretofore problematically hazardous to portion of the door-knob assembly, while my optionally cooperating door latchbolt is formed to a matching critical minimum approximate 40-degree anti-ligative tri-beveled latchbolt as well. Further suicide-deterrence is achieved by effectively submerging the doorknob into the door escutcheon-plate, thereby leaving virtually no declivity by which a suicidal-person can secure any manner of self-inflicted hanging-cord.

1. An anti-ligative ergonomic doorknob system for a hinge-mounted door, said system comprising: a door-lock mechanism having a rotary-shank defining a central axis configured to move a latchbolt between latched and unlatched positions, the latchbolt has a tri-beveled outer terminus;a fixed escutcheo
1. An anti-ligative ergonomic doorknob system for a hinge-mounted door, said system comprising: a door-lock mechanism having a rotary-shank defining a central axis configured to move a latchbolt between latched and unlatched positions, the latchbolt has a tri-beveled outer terminus;a fixed escutcheon-plate mounted to the door, and defining a circular annular-recess with a central opening;a doorknob having a circular backing plate positioned within the annular recess and having an integral grasping knob extending from the backing plate, the rotary shank is connected to one end of the knob;a plurality of radially tapered fins extending between the knob and the backing plate, that will form an I-shaped, Y-shaped, or a X-shaped fin configuration as viewed outwardly from the central axis, wherein a spaced area is provided between continuous fins and the backing plate that is configured to accept means to push or grab a fin surface to operate the rotary shank to unlatch the door lock mechanism, each tapered fin has a minimum 40-degree radial slopingly outer surface as measured tangentially relative to the central-axis,the sloping outer surface of each fin and the tri-beveled outer terminus of the latchbolt are configured to prevent frictional ensnarement of a cord when placed on or around the doorknob or on or around the latchbolt or in a configuration that uses an upper surface, side surface, bottom surface of the door in conjunction with the doorknob or the latchbolt, preventing a user from suicide. 2. The anti-ligative doorknob system according to claim 1, wherein said fins include a dished finger-hold arranged radially outward of said rotary-axis, thereby enabling said fins to be both rotatively depressed and positively pulled-open. 3. The anti-ligative doorknob system according to claim 1, wherein said escutcheon-plate and doorknob are employed upon said rotary-shank at respectively opposing sides of the door; or alternatively, a conventional bezel and hand-knob may be employed at opposite side of the door. 4. The anti-ligative doorknob system according to claim 1, wherein said tri-beveled portion of said latchbolt's outer-terminus is formed via an in-turned engaging surface in combination with a down-turned upper surface and an up-turned lower surface, the three surfaces thus converging proximal outer-terminus of said latchbolt with an minimum 40-degree radial slopingly outer surface as measured tangentially relative to a central-axis of the latchbolt; thereby precluding endeavored frictional ensnarement of the latchbolt via any cording applied thereto. 5. An anti-ligative ergonomic doorknob system for a hinge-mounted door, said system comprising: a fixed escutcheon-plate mounted to the door, and defining a circular annular-recess;a doorknob having a circular backing plate positioned within the annular recess, and a main body extending from the backing plate and having a dome shape with a V-shaped cutout defining a recessed area within;a door-lock mechanism having a rotary-shank defining a central axis and connected to the main body of the doorknob and configured to move a latchbolt between latched and unlatched positions;the main body has a minimum 40-degree radial slopingly outer surface as measured tangentially relative to the central-axis, the latchbolt has a tri-beveled outer terminus;the sloping outer surface of the main body and the tri-beveled outer terminus of the latchbolt are configured to prevent frictional ensnarement of a cord when placed on or around the doorknob or on or around the latchbolt or in a configuration that uses an upper surface, side surface, bottom surface of the door in conjunction with the doorknob or the latchbolt, preventing a user from suicide. 6. The anti-ligative doorknob system according to claim 5, wherein said tri-beveled latchbolt which outer-terminus is formed with an in-turned engaging surface in combination with a down-turned upper surface and an up-turned lower surface, the three surfaces thus converging proximal the inboard portion of said outer-terminus; thereby precluding endeavored frictional ensnarement of the latchbolt via any cording applied thereto. 7. The anti-ligative doorknob system according to claim 5, wherein said doorknob includes an integrated-knob outset from said backing-plate portion as to thereby facilitate a positive hand-hold remiss of any declivity capable of ensnaring a contrived cording noose. 8. A method of deterring suicide via anti-ligative doorknob hardware; said method comprising: a.) providing a blank-door and prepare suitably located through-hole and suitable lock-mortising; or alternatively if re-using an existing door, removing of any conventional door-hardware posing a ligation hazard;b.) installing door-lock mechanism having a rotary-shank defining a central axis configured to move a latchbolt between latched and unlatched positions, the latchbolt has a tri- beveled outer terminus, where the conventional door-hardware has been vacated;c.) installing an escutcheon-plate, defining a circular annular-recess with a central opening, where the conventional door-hardware has been vacated; andd.) at any installed said escutcheon-plate install a doorknob having a circular backing plate within the annular recess and having an integral grasping knob extending from the backing plate, the rotary shank is connected to one end of the knob, a plurality of radially tapered fins extending between the knob and the backing plate, that will form an I-shaped, Y-shaped, or a X-shaped fin configuration as viewed outwardly from the central axis, wherein a spaced area is provided between continuous fins and the backing plate that is configured to accept means to push or grab a fin surface to operate the rotary shank to unlatch the door lock mechanism, each tapered fin has a minimum 40-degree radial slopingly outer surface as measured tangentially relative to the central-axis, positioning the doorknob onto the protruding rotary-shank until the circular backing-plate of respective said doorknob is seated in a slip-fitting manner into said annular-recess, and secure all fasteners, the sloping outer surface of each fin and the tri-beveled outer terminus of the latchbolt are configured to prevent frictional ensnarement of a cord when placed on or around the doorknob or on or around the latchbolt or in a configuration that uses an upper surface, side surface, bottom surface of the door in conjunction with the doorknob or the latchbolt, preventing a user from suicide.
