A connector is provided for terminating coaxial cable. The connector includes a connector body having a cable receiving end and an opposed connection end. A locking sleeve is provided in detachable, re-attachable snap engagement with the insertion end of the connector body for securing the cable in the connector body. The cable may be terminated to the connector by inserting the cable into the locking sleeve or the locking sleeve may be detachably removed from the connector body and the cable inserted directly into the cable body with the locking sleeve detached subsequently.

1. A connector for terminating an end of a coaxial cable comprising: a connector body having a cable receiving end for accommodating said end of said cable; anda locking sleeve coupled to said cable receiving end of said body and being detachable and reattachable thereto to define an attached position and a detached position, said locking sleeve capable of insertably receiving said cable end therethrough in both of said attached and detached positions and being slidable in a longitudinal direction with respect to said connector body from a first position to a second position for inseparably locking said cable to said connector body:wherein said connector body includes an inwardly directed rib adjacent the cable receiving end thereof and wherein said locking sleeve includes an annular recess adjacent an end coupled to said cable receiving end of said body, said rib being accommodated in the recess in said first position;wherein the recess is defined by a pair of annular rings that are positioned to engage the rib to resist forward and rearward longitudinal sliding movement of the locking sleeve from the first position. 2. A connector of claim 1 wherein said recess of said locking sleeve is defined by at least one wall and wherein said at least one wall includes a forward chamfer facilitating reattachment of said locking sleeve to said body. 3. A connector for terminating an end of a coaxial cable comprising: a connector body having a cable receiving end for accommodating the end of the cable; anda locking sleeve coupled to the cable receiving end of the body and being detachable and reattachable thereto, the locking sleeve capable of insertably receiving the cable end therethrough in both of an attached and a detached position and being movable with respect to the connector body from a first position to a second position for locking the cable to the connector body;wherein the connector body includes an inwardly directed portion adjacent the cable receiving end thereof and wherein the locking sleeve includes an outwardly directed portion at a forward end thereof which is slidable within the cable receiving end of the connector body, wherein the inwardly directed portion and the outwardly directed portion slidably contact one another and allow the detachment and reattachment of the locking sleeve to the connector bodywherein the outwardly directed portion comprises a pair of annular rings defining an annular recess therebetween, at least one of the annular rings configured to engage the inwardly directed portion of the connector body to resist forward sliding of the locking sleeve relative to the connector body from the first position. 4. The connector of claim 3, wherein the locking sleeve comprises a surface adjacent an end coupled to the cable receiving end of the body, the inwardly directed portion being accommodated about the surface in the first position. 5. The connector of claim 3, wherein the inwardly directed portion is radially inwardly directed and is defined by a forwardly facing perpendicular wall and a rearwardly facing wall. 6. The connector of claim 3, wherein the forward end of the locking sleeve comprises a flat surface mating with a corresponding flat surface of the connector body when in the attached position. 7. The connector of claim 3, wherein the pair of annular rings resist forward and rearward sliding of the locking sleeve relative to the connector body from the first position. 8. The connector of claim 3, wherein the inwardly directed portion of the connector body is adjacent a first portion of the connector body having an inner diameter greater than an inner diameter of a second portion of the connector body, the connector body further comprising an angled interior portion extending between the first and second portions. 9. The connector of claim 8, further comprising a post disposed within the connector body having a barb, wherein the angled interior portion is at least partially coaxial with the barb. 10. The connector of claim 9, wherein the locking sleeve comprises a ring having a chamfered surface, a flat surface and a perpendicular surface, wherein the inwardly directed portion is configured to slide over the flat surface to lock against the perpendicular surface in the second position. 11. A connector for terminating an end of a coaxial cable comprising: a connector body having a cable receiving end for accommodating the end of the cable; anda locking sleeve coupled to the cable receiving end of the body and being detachable and reattachable thereto, the locking sleeve capable of insertably receiving the cable end therethrough in both of an attached and a detached position and being movable with respect to the connector body from a first position to a second position for locking the cable to the connector body;wherein the connector body includes a protrusion adjacent the cable receiving end thereof and wherein the locking sleeve includes a pair of annular ring portions at a forward end thereof which are configured to resist longitudinal movement of the locking sleeve relative to the cable receiving end of the connector body, wherein the pair of annular ring portions provide resilience against the protrusion to allow the detachment and reattachment of the locking sleeve to the connector body. 12. The connector of claim 11, wherein the ring portions include a surface at an end of the locking sleeve coupled to the cable receiving end of the body, the protrusion being accommodated by the surface in the first position. 13. The connector of claim 11, wherein the forward end of the locking sleeve is insertable within the cable receiving end of the body. 14. The connector of claim 11, wherein the protrusion comprises a forwardly facing perpendicular wall and a rearwardly facing chamfered wall. 15. The connector of claim 11, wherein the first position is a first unlocked position in which a forward edge of a first one of the ring portions is disposed on one side of the protrusion and, in a second unlocked position, the forward edge of the first ring portion is disposed on another side of the protrusion opposite the one side of the protrusion, wherein the first ring portion provides resilience against the protrusion in both the first and second unlocked positions. 16. The connector of claim 3, wherein the pair of annular rings resist forward and rearward sliding of the locking sleeve relative to the connector body from the first position. 17. The connector of claim 11, wherein an inwardly extending portion of the connector body is adjacent a first portion of the connector body having an inner diameter greater than an inner diameter of a second portion of the connector body, the connector body further comprising an angled interior portion extending between the first and second portions. 18. The connector of claim 17, further comprising a post disposed within the connector body having a barb, wherein the angled interior portion is at least partially coaxial with the barb. 19. The connector of claim 18, wherein the locking sleeve comprises a ring having a chamfered surface, a flat surface and a perpendicular surface, wherein the inwardly extending portion is configured to slide over the flat surface to lock against the perpendicular surface in the second position.
