An air treating composition for eliminating airborne malodors and/or sanitizing air in combination with a spray valve and actuator and spray performance parameters providing maximum dispersion of the composition is disclosed. The particles of the composition are small so that the active component is dispersed into air as a fine dispersion to provide more contact with malodors and to provide quick absorption of malodors and/or bacteria. The particle size of the composition is controlled through the valve and actuator dimensions, as well as the formulation requirements of the composition. The air treating composition includes water, a low molecular weight polyol, and a propellant. The composition may also include one or more adjuvants such as an emulsifier, a co-solvent, a fragrance, a corrosion inhibitor, a pH adjusting agent and the like.

1. An air treating composition comprising: 5 to about 25 wt % of at least one polyol having a molecular weight of about 250 grams/mole or less, wherein the at least one polyol is present in an amount sufficient to sanitize air;from 0 to about 4 wt % emulsifier, wherein, when present, the emulsifier
1. An air treating composition comprising: 5 to about 25 wt % of at least one polyol having a molecular weight of about 250 grams/mole or less, wherein the at least one polyol is present in an amount sufficient to sanitize air;from 0 to about 4 wt % emulsifier, wherein, when present, the emulsifier is selected from the group consisting of trimethyl stearyl ammonium chloride, sorbitan monooleate and combinations thereof;from 30 to about 50 wt % propellant;from 0 to about 40 wt % co-solvent;a pH adjustor;water; andoptionally, one or more components selected from the group consisting of fragrances, corrosion inhibitors, antimicrobials, and preservatives, wherein said composition upon being dispensed has an average particle size of less than or equal to 45 μm over at least 75% of a life of the composition and a spray rate in a range from about 0.5 g/s to about 2.5 g/s over at least 75% of the life of the composition, andwherein the composition has a pH ranging from about 6 to about 12. 2. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the propellant is present in an amount of from about 35 to about 50 wt %. 3. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the propellant is present in an amount of from about 35 to about 40 wt %. 4. The composition according to claim 1, wherein total VOC content of the composition is no more than 60 wt %. 5. The composition according to claim 4, wherein the polyol is selected from the group consisting of triethylene glycol, propylene glycol, and mixtures thereof. 6. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the propellant comprises a hydrocarbon propellant. 7. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the co-solvent is ethanol. 8. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the polyol is selected from the group consisting of monoalkylene glycols, dialkylene glycols, trialkylene glycols, glycerols, and mixtures thereof. 9. An air treating composition comprising: 5 to about 25 wt % triethylene glycol, wherein the triethylene glycol is present in an amount sufficient to sanitize air;from 0 to about 4 wt % emulsifier, wherein, when present, the emulsifier is selected from the group consisting of trimethyl stearyl ammonium chloride, sorbitan monooleate and combinations thereof;from 30 to about 50 wt % propellant;from 0 to about 40 wt % co-solvent;a pH adjustor;water; andoptionally, one or more components selected from fragrances, corrosion inhibitors, antimicrobials, and preservatives, wherein said composition upon being dispensed has an average particle size of less than or equal to 45 μm over at least 75% of a life of the composition and a spray rate in a range from about 0.5 g/s to about 2.5 g/s over at least 75% of the life of the composition, andwherein the composition has a pH ranging from about 6 to about 12. 10. The composition according to claim 9, wherein the propellant is present in an amount of from about 35 to about 50 wt %. 11. The composition according to claim 9, wherein the propellant is present in an amount of from about 35 to about 40 wt %.
