The photo-protective composition according to claim 1, wherein said at least one carotenoid is selected from the group consisting of lutein, lutein ester, and any combinations thereof. 5. The photo-protective composition of claim 1, wherein said composition is an oil-in-water emulsion. 6. The photoprotective composition of claim 1, wherein said emulsifier is present in an amount of about 1 wt % to about 15 wt %, based on the total weight of the composition. 12. The photoprotective composition of claim 1, wherein said emollient is present in an amount of about 0.10 wt % to about 30 wt %, based on the total weight of the composition.
