A method for accessing a coal seam from the surface, comprising: drilling a substantially vertical well bore from the surface to the coal seam;drilling an articulated well bore from the surface to the coal seam, the articulated well bore horizontally offset from the substantially vertical well bore at the surface and intersecting the substantially vertical well bore at a junction proximate to the coal seam;drilling through the articulated well bore into the coal seam a horizontal well bore pattern; anddrilling the well bore pattern underbalanced. 2. The method of claim 1, the well bore pattern comprising a main horizontal well bore and a plurality of laterals well bores extending from the main horizontal well bore. 3. The method of claim 1, the well bore pattern comprising a pinnate pattern. 4. The method of claim 1, the coal seam comprising low permeability coal. 5. The method of claim 1, further comprising an enlarged cavity at the junction. 6. The method of claim 1, further comprising the substantially vertical well bore and the articulated well bore offset 300 feet at the surface. 7. The method of claim 1, further comprising drilling articulated well bore after drilling the substantially vertical well bore. 8. The method of claim 1, further comprising installing a pump in the junction to pump water collected from the coal seam to the surface through the substantially vertical well bore. 9. The method of claim 8, further comprising producing gas from the coal seam through the substantially vertical well bore. 10. The method of claim 1, further comprising producing about seventy-five percent (75%) of the gas from the coal seam in the area of the pattern through the substantially vertical well bore. 11. The method of claim 1, further comprising installing a sucker rod pump in the junction to pump water collected from the coal seam to the surface through the substantially vertical well bore. 12. The method of claim 1, further comprising drilling the well bore pattern underbalanced by pumping a gas down the substantially vertical well bore during drilling of the well bore pattern. 13. The method of claim 1, further comprising drilling the well bore pattern underbalanced by pumping drilling fluid up the substantially vertical well bore during drilling of the well bore pattern. 14. The method of claim 1, further comprising drilling underbalanced by reducing down-hole pressure exerted by the drilling fluid by circulating compressed air and mixing the air with the drilling fluid. 15. The method of claim 1, further comprising reducing down-hole pressure to nearly zero. 16. The method of claim 1, further comprising reducing down-hole pressure to approximately 150-200 pounds per square inch. 17. The method of claim 1, wherein the substantially vertical well bore comprises a first substantially vertical well bore, the articulated well bore comprises a first articulated well bore, the junction comprises a first junction, and the horizontal well bore pattern comprises a first horizontal well bore pattern, further comprising: drilling a second substantially vertical well bore from the surface to the coal seam;drilling a second articulated well bore extending from the first articulated well bore, the second articulated well bore horizontally offset from the second substantially vertical well bore at the surface and intersecting the second substantially vertical well bore at a second junction proximate to the coal seam;drilling through the second articulated well bore into the coal seam a second horizontal well bore pattern; anddrilling the second well bore pattern underbalanced. 18. The method of claim 17, the well bore patterns each comprising a main horizontal well bore and a plurality of laterals well bores extending from the main horizontal well bore. 19. The method of claim 17, the well bore patterns each comprising a pinnate pattern. 20. The method of claim 17, the coal seam comprising low permeability coal. 21. The method of claim 17, further comprising the first and second substantially vertical well bores each offset 300 feet at the surface from the articulated well bore. 22. The method of claim 17, further comprising drilling articulated well bores after drilling the substantially vertical well bores. 23. The method of claim 17, further comprising installing a pump in each junction to pump water collected from the coal seam to the surface through the substantially vertical well bores. 24. The method of claim 17, further comprising producing gas from the coal seam through the substantially vertical well bores. 25. The method of claim 17, further comprising: drilling a third substantially vertical well bore from the surface to the coal seam;drilling a third articulated well bore extending from the first articulated well bore, the third articulated well bore horizontally offset from the third substantially vertical well bore at the surface and intersecting the third substantially vertical well bore at a second junction proximate to the coal seam;drilling through the third articulated well bore into the coal seam a third horizontal well bore pattern; anddrilling the third well bore pattern underbalanced,further comprising reducing down-hole pressure exerted by the drilling fluid by aerating the drilling fluid.
