The valve assembly of claim 1, wherein the housing of each poppet assembly of the plurality of poppet assemblies is configured to be directly coupled to an internal bore of the seat plate that generally defines at least one fluid conduit of the plurality of fluid conduits. 3. The valve assembly of claim 2, wherein the internal bore and the housing comprise mating threaded surfaces to facilitate coupling of the housing to the internal bore. 4. The valve assembly of claim 1, wherein the poppet of each poppet assembly is configured to axially reciprocate between the open and closed positions. 5. The valve assembly of claim 1, wherein at least one poppet assembly of the plurality of poppet assemblies is coupled proximate its respective fluid conduit of the seat plate such that the stem of the poppet extends substantially through the respective fluid conduit. 6. The valve assembly of claim 5, wherein the cover of the at least one poppet assembly of the plurality of poppet assemblies is removably coupled to the housing of the at least one poppet assembly, wherein the cover cooperates with the housing of the at least one poppet assembly to generally define an interior volume into which the stem of the poppet extends. 7. The valve assembly of claim 5, comprising a second impact bushing disposed between the housing of the at least one poppet assembly of the plurality of poppet assemblies and the poppet head, the second impact bushing having a surface configured to cooperate with a mating surface of the poppet head to form a seal there between when the poppet is in the closed position. 8. The valve assembly of claim 1, wherein the actuators comprise at least one of a magnet or a spring. 9. The valve assembly of claim 1, wherein each poppet assembly of the plurality of poppet assemblies includes no more than one poppet, and the valve assembly is configured to operate without a guard plate common to a plurality of poppets. 10. The valve assembly of claim 1, wherein the first impact bushing is plastic. 11. A valve assembly comprising: a poppet including a poppet head and a stem;a housing configured to receive the stem of the poppet and to permit axial, reciprocal motion of the stem; anda cover configured to be removably coupled to the housing such that the cover and the housing generally define an internal cavity;an actuator carrier within the cover and coupled to the stem, wherein the actuator carrier partially encloses an actuator;an impact bushing between the carrier and the housing, and wherein the impact bushing is configured to reduce wear between the actuator carrier and the housing as the stem moves within the cover; andwherein the poppet, the housing, and the cover are configured such that, when assembled, a portion of the stem extends through the housing into the internal cavity, while the poppet head remains outside the internal cavity. 12. The valve assembly of claim 11, wherein the housing is configured to be coupled to a plate and is configured in such a manner as to enable the poppet head and the cover to be disposed on opposite sides of the plate during operation of the valve assembly. 13. The valve assembly of claim 11, wherein the housing is not configured to receive a plurality of poppets. 14. A compressor comprising: a frame;a compression cylinder coupled to the frame, the compression cylinder configured to receive and discharge a fluid;a plurality of mechanical components disposed in the frame and configured to facilitate compression of the fluid within a compression chamber of the compression cylinder; andat least one valve assembly disposed in the compression cylinder in fluid communication with the compression chamber, the at least one valve assembly comprising a seat plate having a plurality of fluid conduits, and a plurality of poppet assemblies coupled to the seat plate and generally extending from a side of the seat plate, wherein each poppet assembly of the plurality of poppet assemblies includes a housing, a cover, a poppet, and an impact bushing completely within the cover, wherein the impact bushing is configured to reduce wear within the cover caused by movement of the poppet,wherein the poppet of each poppet assembly comprises a stem received by the housing and a poppet head, andwherein an actuator carrier couples to the stem, and the actuator carrier surrounds an actuator. 15. The compressor of claim 14, wherein the at least one valve assembly comprises an inlet valve. 16. The compressor of claim 14, wherein a portion of each poppet assembly of the plurality of poppet assemblies is positioned upstream with respect to the seat plate, and the poppet head of each poppet assembly of the plurality of poppet assemblies is positioned downstream with respect to the seat plate, such that, during operation of the compressor, the fluid flows first past the portion and then past the poppet head. 17. The compressor of claim 14, wherein the at least one valve assembly is configured for operation independent of a guard plate.
