Embodiments disclosed herein describe a system for producing enhanced wax alternatives. The system comprises a reactor with at least one inlet and one outlet and at least one high shear mixing device with at least one inlet and one outlet. The at least one outlet of said high shear mixing device is in fluid communication with at least one inlet of said reactor. The high shear mixing device may comprise counter rotating rotors. The high shear mixing device may also comprise at least one catalytic surface. Embodiments disclosed herein also describe a method of producing enhanced wax alternatives. The method comprises (1) providing petroleum wax and base oil; (2) mixing said petroleum wax and base oil with a hydrogen-containing gas in a high shear device to form a feedstock; and (3) hydrogenating said feedstock for a time sufficient to produce enhanced hydrogenated products.

1. A method of producing enhanced wax alternatives, the method comprising: a. providing petroleum wax and base oil;b. mixing said petroleum wax and base oil with a hydrogen-containing gas in a high shear device to form a feedstock; andc. hydrogenating said feedstock for a time sufficient to produce enhanced hydrogenated products. 2. The method of claim 1 wherein hydrogenating said feedstock accomplishes at least one of the following effects: desulfurization, hydrocracking, reduction of unsaturation content of feedstock, and reduction of aromatic content of the feedstock. 3. The method of claim 1 wherein said petroleum wax includes alkane hydrocarbons with formula CnH2n+2, wherein n=20-40. 4. The method of claim 1 wherein said base oil is selected from the group consisting of butterfat, cocoa butter, cocoa butter substitutes, illipe fat, kokum butter, milk fat, mowrah fat, phulwara butter, sal fat, shea fat, bomeo tallow, lard, lanolin, beef tallow, mutton tallow, other animal tallow, canola oil, castor oil, coconut oil, coriander oil, corn oil, cottonseed oil, hazelnut oil, hempseed oil, linseed oil, mango kernel oil, meadowfoam oil, neatsfoot oil, olive oil, palm oil, palm kernel oil, palm olein, palm stearin, palm kernel olein, palm kernel stearin, peanut oil, rapeseed oil, rice bran oil, safflower oil, sasanqua oil, soybean oil, sesame oil, sunflower seed oil, tall oil, tsubaki oil, vegetable oils, marine oils, and combinations thereof. 5. The method of claim 1 wherein base oil further comprises at least one antioxidant. 6. The method of claim 5 wherein the at least one antioxidant comprises ascorbyl palmitate, tocopherol, a hindered phenolic compound, or a combination thereof. 7. The method of claim 1 wherein said feedstock has an iodine value of greater than 70. 8. The method of claim 1 further comprising recycling a portion of the produced hydrogenated products through high shear mixing. 9. The method of claim 1 wherein hydrogenating said feedstock includes the use of a nickel catalyst. 10. The method of claim 9 wherein said catalyst is mixed with said petroleum wax, base oil, and hydrogen-containing gas in a high shear device. 11. The method of claim 1 further comprising introducing a hydrogen donor solvent into said high shear device to form a feedstock. 12. The method of claim 11 wherein the introducing of a hydrogen donor solvent into said high shear device includes mixing said hydrogen donor solvent with petroleum wax, or with base oil, or with both. 13. The method of claim 11 wherein said hydrogen donor solvent includes tetralin and phenanthrene. 14. A method of producing hydrogenated products, the method comprising: providing petroleum wax and base oil;processing the petroleum wax and the base oil with a gas under high shear conditions to form a feedstock; andhydrogenating the feedstock over a period of time to produce hydrogenated products. 15. The method of claim 14, wherein the petroleum wax includes alkane hydrocarbons with formula CnH2n+2, wherein n=20-40. 16. The method of claim 14, wherein the base oil further comprises at least one antioxidant selected from the group consisting of ascorbyl palmitate, tocopherol, a hindered phenolic compound, and a combination thereof 17.
