The handle may comprise a control unit electrically coupled to the shaft such that the shaft radiates signals as an antenna from the control unit to the sensor and receives radiated signals from the sensor. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the at least one sensor comprises a magnetoresistive sensor. 3. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the at least one sensor comprises a pressure sensor. 4. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the at least one sensor comprises a RFID sensor. 5. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the at least one sensor comprises a MEMS sensor. 6. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the at least one sensor comprises an electromechanical sensor. 7. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the at least one sensor is connected to a plastic cartridge of the end effector. 8. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the end effector comprises an electrically conductive component coupled to the electrically conductive tube, wherein the electrically conductive component is configured to radiate communication signals to and from the sensor. 9. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the surgical instrument comprises an endoscopic surgical instrument. 10. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the communication signals radiated wirelessly from the electrically conductive tube use a wireless communication protocol. 14. The surgical instrument of claim 1, wherein the wireless signals comprise RF wireless signals. 15. A surgical instrument for use with an actuation device that has a control unit, the surgical instrument comprising: an electrically conductive tube that at least partially houses a drive shaft therein; andan end effector that is configured to be operably coupled to the electrically conductive tube and the drive shaft for receiving control motions therefrom, said end effector having at least one sensor that is electrically insulated from the electrically conductive tube, wherein the electrically conductive tube is for wirelessly radiating communication signals from the control unit to the at least one sensor and for receiving wirelessly radiated communication signals from the at least one sensor. 16. The surgical instrument of claim 15 wherein the drive shaft is powered by a motor. 17. The surgical instrument of claim 15, wherein the at least one sensor is connected to a plastic cartridge of the end effector. 18. The surgical instrument of claim 15, wherein the end effector comprises an electrically conductive component coupled to the electrically conductive tube, wherein the electrically conductive component is configured to radiate wireless communication signals to and from the sensor. 19. The surgical instrument of claim 18, wherein the end effector comprises a plastic staple cartridge and the at least one sensor is disposed in the staple cartridge.
