An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a mirror head having an electrochromic reflective mirror element. A mirror mount is configured for attaching the interior rearview mirror assembly at an attachment element at an interior surface of a vehicle windshield. The interior rearview mirror assembly includes a portion that does not adjust when the driver of the vehicle pivotally adjusts the mirror head to set the rearward field of view of the reflective mirror element. The interior rearview mirror assembly includes circuitry, with at least a part of the circuitry accommodated within the mirror head. At least two electrical accessories of the interior rearview mirror assembly share at least one component of the circuitry. The portion includes a CMOS-based camera that, with the interior rearview mirror assembly normally mounted in the vehicle, has a field of view through a windshield of the vehicle.

An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle, said interior rearview mirror assembly comprising: a mirror head, wherein said mirror head comprises an electrochromic reflective mirror element;a mirror mount, wherein said mirror mount is configured for attaching said interior rearview mirror assembly at an attachment element that is attached at an interior surface of a windshield of a vehicle equipped with said interior rearview mirror assembly;wherein, with said mirror mount attached at the attachment element, said reflective mirror element has a field of view rearward of the equipped vehicle;wherein said interior rearview mirror assembly includes a pivot joint enabling a driver of the equipped vehicle to pivotally adjust said mirror head to set the rearward field of view of said reflective mirror element to the driver's desired setting with said interior rearview mirror assembly attached at the attachment element;wherein said interior rearview mirror assembly comprises a portion that does not adjust when the driver of the equipped vehicle, with said interior rearview mirror assembly attached at the attachment element, pivotally adjusts said mirror head to set the rearward field of view of said reflective mirror element to the driver's desired setting;wherein said pivot joint comprises a ball and a socket, and wherein one of said ball and said socket is disposed at said mirror head;wherein said interior rearview mirror assembly includes circuitry;wherein at least a part of said circuitry is accommodated within said mirror head;wherein at least two electrical accessories of said interior rearview mirror assembly share at least one component of said circuitry;wherein said portion includes said mirror mount; andwherein said portion comprises a CMOS-based camera, and wherein said CMOS-based camera, with said interior rearview mirror assembly normally mounted in the equipped vehicle, has a field of view through a windshield of the equipped vehicle. 2. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein one of said at least two electrical accessories is selected from the group consisting of (a) a display, (b) a light, (c) an electrochromic mirror dimming control and (d) a headlamp controller. 3. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein two of said at least two electrical accessories are selected from the group consisting of (a) a display, (b) a light, (c) an electrochromic mirror dimming control and (d) a headlamp controller. 4. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein at least one accessory of said at least two electrical accessories is accommodated within said mirror head. 5. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 4, wherein said at least one accessory comprises an electrochromic dimming control. 6. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein one of said at least two electrical accessories is selected from the group consisting of (a) a headlamp controller and (b) an electrochromic mirror dimming control. 7. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein one of said at least two electrical accessories comprises said CMOS-based camera. 8. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said circuitry comprises an electrochromic mirror dimming control for at least said electrochromic reflective mirror element. 9. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein one of said at least two electrical accessories comprises a headlamp controller. 10. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 9, wherein said headlamp controller is accommodated within said mirror head. 11. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 10, wherein another of said at least two electrical accessories comprises an electrochromic mirror dimming control, and wherein said electrochromic mirror dimming control is accommodated within said mirror head. 12. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said interior rearview mirror assembly comprises at least one of (i) a home access transmitter, (ii) a hands-free phone, (iii) a remote keyless entry receiver, (iv) a compass, (v) a seat occupancy detection device, (vi) a map reading light, (vii) a light, (viii) a trip computer, (ix) a garage door opener and (x) an intrusion detector. 13. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said circuitry provides at least a part of a defogger function at the interior surface of the windshield of the equipped vehicle. 14. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said at least a part of said circuitry that is accommodated in said mirror head is disposed on a circuit board. 15. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 14, wherein said circuit board comprises a printed circuit board. 16. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said mirror mount is adapted to provide a break-away attachment when said mirror mount is attached at the attachment element. 17. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein the attachment element comprises a mirror mounting button attached at the interior surface of the windshield of the equipped vehicle. 18. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said mirror head comprises a plastic mirror casing. 19. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said interior rearview mirror assembly comprises a display for displaying information to the driver of the equipped vehicle. 20. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 19, wherein said display is disposed rearward of said reflective mirror element so that information displayed by said display is viewable through said reflective mirror element by the driver of the equipped vehicle. 21. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 19, wherein said display comprises a liquid crystal display. 22. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 19, wherein said display is disposed rearward of said reflective mirror element so that information displayed by said display is viewable through said reflective mirror element by the driver of the equipped vehicle, and wherein said display is operable to display information on demand for viewing by the driver of the equipped vehicle when said display is activated. 23. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said interior rearview mirror assembly comprises a rolling code trainable garage door opener. 24. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said mirror head of said interior rearview mirror assembly comprises a carrier member, said carrier member including an electrically conductive circuit member and a support body, and wherein said electrically conductive circuit member is integrally molded with said support body, said carrier member providing an integral support for, electrical connections for, and an electrical distribution network to, a light. 25. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 24, wherein said carrier member at least provides electrical connections for at least one of (a) a lamp, (b) an electrical switch for controlling a lamp, (c) an electrical connector for connecting said carrier member to an external power source, and (d) a receptacle for receiving a circuit board for control of at least one electronic device of the equipped vehicle. 26. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said interior rearview mirror assembly comprises a single pivot joint enabling the driver of the equipped vehicle to pivotally adjust said mirror head to set the rearward field of view of said reflective mirror element to the driver's desired setting, and wherein the other of said ball and said socket is disposed at said portion of said interior rearview mirror assembly that does not adjust when the driver of the equipped vehicle, with said interior rearview mirror assembly attached at the attachment element, pivotally adjusts said mirror head to set the rearward field of view of said reflective mirror element to the driver's desired setting. 27. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 1, wherein said interior rearview mirror assembly comprises first and second pivot joints enabling the driver of the equipped vehicle to pivotally adjust said mirror head to set the rearward field of view of said reflective mirror element to the driver's desired setting, and wherein a support arm connects between said first and second pivot joints. 28. An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle, said interior rearview mirror assembly comprising: a mirror head, wherein said mirror head comprises an electrochromic reflective mirror element;a mirror mount, wherein said mirror mount is configured for attaching said interior rearview mirror assembly at an attachment element that is attached at an interior surface of a windshield of a vehicle equipped with said interior rearview mirror assembly;wherein, with said mirror mount attached at the attachment element, said reflective mirror element has a field of view rearward of the equipped vehicle;wherein said interior rearview mirror assembly includes a single pivot joint enabling a driver of the equipped vehicle to pivotally adjust said mirror head to set the rearward field of view of said reflective mirror element to the driver's desired setting with said interior rearview mirror assembly attached at the attachment element;wherein said interior rearview mirror assembly comprises a portion that does not adjust when the driver of the equipped vehicle, with said interior rearview mirror assembly attached at the attachment element, pivotally adjusts said mirror head to set the rearward field of view of said reflective mirror element to the driver's desired setting;wherein said single pivot joint comprises a ball and a socket, and wherein one of said ball and said socket is disposed at said mirror head, and wherein the other of said ball and said socket is disposed at said portion of said interior rearview mirror assembly that does not adjust when the driver of the equipped vehicle, with said interior rearview mirror assembly attached at the attachment element, pivotally adjusts said mirror head to set the rearward field of view of said reflective mirror element to the driver's desired setting;wherein said interior rearview mirror assembly includes circuitry;wherein at least a part of said circuitry is accommodated within said mirror head;wherein said portion includes said mirror mount; andwherein said portion comprises a CMOS-based camera, and wherein said CMOS-based camera, with said interior rearview mirror assembly normally mounted in the equipped vehicle, has a field of view through a windshield of the equipped vehicle. 29. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 28, wherein at least two electrical accessories of said interior rearview mirror assembly share at least one component of said circuitry. 30. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 29, wherein one of said at least two electrical accessories is selected from the group consisting of (a) a display, (b) a light, (c) an electrochromic mirror dimming control and (d) a headlamp controller. 31. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 29, wherein two of said at least two electrical accessories are selected from the group consisting of (a) a display, (b) a light, (c) an electrochromic mirror dimming control and (d) a headlamp controller. 32. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 29, wherein at least one accessory of said at least two electrical accessories is accommodated within said mirror head. 33. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 32, wherein said at least one accessory comprises an electrochromic dimming control. 34. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 29, wherein one of said at least two electrical accessories is selected from the group consisting of (a) a headlamp controller and (b) an electrochromic mirror dimming control. 35. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 29, wherein one of said at least two electrical accessories comprises said CMOS-based camera. 36. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 29, wherein one of said at least two electrical accessories comprises a headlamp controller, and wherein said headlamp controller is accommodated within said mirror head. 37. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 28, wherein said at least a part of said circuitry that is accommodated in said mirror head is disposed on a circuit board. 38. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 38, wherein said interior rearview mirror assembly comprises a headlamp controller, and wherein said headlamp controller is accommodated within said mirror head. 40. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 39, wherein said headlamp controller shares at least one component of said circuitry. 41. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 41, wherein said mirror head comprises a headlamp controller. 45. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 44, wherein said CMOS-based camera and said headlamp controller share at least one component of said circuitry. 46. The interior rearview mirror assembly of claim 41, wherein said mirror head comprises an electrochromic mirror dimming control and a headlamp controller. 47.
