1. A method of delivering specific programming at at least one of a plurality of receiver stations in a communications network, comprising the steps of: generating control instructions in said communications network;receiving a control signal at a transmitter station in said communications network,

A method of delivering specific programming at at least one of a plurality of receiver stations in a communications network, comprising the steps of: generating control instructions in said communications network;receiving a control signal at a transmitter station in said communications network, said control signal operative to communicate said control instructions;transmitting said control instructions to said at least one of said plurality of receiver stations in said communications network in response to said control signal, said control instructions including information regarding a plurality of units of programming and effective at said at least one of said plurality of receiver stations in said communications network to control a computer at said at least one of said plurality of receiver stations to generate a receiver specific value by performing a benefit determination which processes 1) receiver specific information that is calculated by said computer and 2) said information regarding at least one of said plurality of units of programming, said receiver specific information derived from specific criteria stored at said receiver station, said specific criteria defining relevant characteristics of a user of said at least one of said plurality of receiver stations, select at least one of said plurality of units of programming based on said receiver specific value, and cause said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming to be communicated based on 1) said receiver specific value and 2) identification or location information of said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming;communicating at least one additional unit of programming to a transmitter at said transmitter station; andtransmitting said at least one additional unit of programming from said transmitter station to said at least one of said plurality of receiver stations in said communications network for delivery as a presentation with said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming. 2. The method of claim 1, said method further comprising the steps of: originating an instruct signal at said transmitter station in said communications network; andgenerating some portion of at least one of a computer program and a data module in response to said instruct signal. 3. The method of claim 1, wherein said presentation includes at least two instances of combined medium programming, said method further comprising the steps of: transmitting a portion of each of said two instances of combined medium programming. 4. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of receiving operating instructions at said transmitter station in said communications network, said operating instructions effective to control a processor at said transmitter station in said communications network, wherein said control instructions are processed by said processor under control of said operating instructions. 5. The method of claim 1 wherein said control instructions are effective to control said computer to cause said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming to be communicated to an output device. 6. The method of claim 1 wherein said control instructions are effective to control said computer to cause said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming to be communicated to a storage device. 7. The method of claim 1 wherein said benefit determination ranks the units of programming of said plurality of units of programming by utility to the user of said at least one of said plurality of receiver stations. 8. The method of claim 7 wherein said control instructions are effective to control said computer to select at least two of said plurality units of programming and said selected at least two of said plurality of units of programming are ordered based on said determined ranks. 9. The method of claim 1 wherein said control instruction are effective to control said computer to select a subset of said plurality of units of programming. 10. A method of delivering a receiver specific programming at at least one of a plurality of receiver stations in a communications network, comprising the steps of: storing a control signal and selected data at a transmitter station in said communications network; andtransmitting a transmission including said stored control signal and said stored selected data, said control signal effective at said at least one of a plurality of receiver stations in said communications network to control a computer to generate a receiver specific value by performing a benefit determination which processes 1) receiver specific information that is calculated by said computer and 2) said selected data, said receiver specific information derived from specific criteria stored at said receiver station, said specific criteria defining relevant characteristics of a user of said at least one of a plurality of receiver stations, select at least one unit of programming based on said receiver specific value, and output said selected specific programming based on 1) said receiver specific value and 2) identification or location information of said selected at least one unit of programming;communicating programming including said selected at least one unit of programming to a transmitter at said transmitter station; andtransmitting said programming from said transmitter station to said at least one of said plurality of receiver stations in said communications network. 11. The method of claim 10, further comprising the step of transmitting operating instructions to said computer, said operating instructions effective to control said computer, wherein said control signal is processed by said computer under control of said operating instructions. 12. A method for controlling the transmission of a control signal from an intermediate transmitter station to a receiver station in a communications network, comprising the steps of: receiving, at said intermediate transmitter station in said communications network, information regarding a first control signal;receiving a second control signal operative to cause a first computer at said intermediate transmitter station in said communications network to select data and to communicate said first control signal to a memory of said computer based on said data; andtransmitting, to said receiver station in said communications network, said selected first control signal, said selected first control signal operative at said receiver station in said communications network to control a second computer at said receiver station to generate a receiver specific value by performing a benefit determination which processes 1) receiver specific information that is calculated by said second computer and 2) information regarding at least one unit of programming, said receiver specific information derived from specific criteria stored at a memory associated with said second computer, said specific criteria defining relevant characteristics of a user of said receiver station, select some of said at least one unit of based on said receiver specific value, and cause said selected some of said at least one unit of programming to be communicated to an output device based on 1) said receiver specific control and 2) identification or location information of said some of said at least one unit of programming;communicating said at least one unit of programming to a transmitter at said intermediate transmitter station; andtransmitting said at least one unit of programming from said intermediate transmitter station to said receiver station in said communications network. 13. The method of claim 12, wherein said first control signal is generated at said intermediate transmitter station in said communications network before said second control signal is received. 14. The method of claim 12, wherein said step of transmitting said first selected control signal is based on a third control signal. 15. The method of claim 12, further comprising the step of storing said selected first control signal at a storage device included within said intermediate transmitter station in said communications network. 16. The method of claim 15, wherein said step of transmitting said selected first control signal is performed at a specific time according to a third control signal. 17. A method of delivering a receiver specific program at a receiver station having a computer and an output device, comprising perform the following steps of: receiving, at said receiver station, a broadcast or cablecast information transmission comprising control instructions which include information regarding a plurality of units of programming;detecting said control instructions in said broadcast or cablecast information transmission and passing said detected control instructions to said computer at said receiver station;receiving said plurality of units of programming at said receiver station;controlling said computer at said receiver station based on said detected and passed control instructions, said step of controlling comprising controlling said computer to: generate a receiver specific value by performing a benefit determination which processes 1) receiver specific information that is calculated by said computer at said receiver station and 2) said information regarding said plurality of units of programming, said receiver specific information derived from specific criteria stored at said receiver station, said specific criteria defining relevant characteristics of a user of said receiver station;select at least one of said plurality of units of programming based on said receiver specific computer generated value; andcause said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming to be communicated based on 1) said receiver specific value and 2) identification or location information of said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming;receiving in said cablecast or broadcast transmission at least one additional unit of programming at said receiver station; anddelivering through said output device a receiver station specific presentation of two or more units of programming, said two or more units of programming including said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming and said at least one additional unit of programming. 18. The method of claim 17 wherein said step of controlling said computer includes causing said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming to be communicated to an output device. 19. The method of claim 17 wherein said step of controlling said computer includes causing said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming to be communicated to a storage device. 20. The method of claim 17 wherein said benefit determination ranks the units of programming of said plurality of units of programming by utility to the user of said receiver station. 21. The method of claim 20 wherein said step of controlling said computer includes causing said computer to select at least two of said plurality units of programming and said selected at least two of said plurality of units of programming are ordered based on said determined ranks. 22. The method of claim 17 wherein said step of controlling said computer includes selecting a subset of said plurality of units of programming. 23. A receiver station apparatus for delivering a presentation of two or more units of programming comprising: a program input receiver that receives a broadcast or cablecast information transmission comprising control instructions and at least one additional unit of programming, said control instructions including information regarding a plurality of units of programming;a detector operatively connected to said program input receiver that detects said control instructions in said broadcast or cablecast information transmission;a computer operatively connected to, said detector and said output device for performing the following operations based upon said detected and passed control instructions: generating a receiver specific value by performing a benefit determination which processes 1) receiver specific information that is calculated by said computer and 2) said information regarding said plurality of units of programming, said receiver specific information derived from specific criteria stored at said receiver station apparatus, said specific criteria defining relavant characteristics of a user of said receiver station apparatus;selecting at least one of said plurality of units of programming based on said receiver specific computer generated value; andcausing said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming to be communicated based on 1) said receiver specific value and 2) identification or location information of said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming;an output device operatively connected to said computer that delivers a receiver station specific presentation of two or more units of programming, said two or more units of programming including said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming and said at least one additional unit of programming. 24. The apparatus of claim 23 wherein said computer performs the operation of causing said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming to be communicated to an output device. 25. The apparatus of claim 23 wherein said computer performs the operation of causing said selected at least one of said plurality of units of programming to be communicated to a storage device. 26. The apparatus of claim 23 wherein said benefit determination ranks the units of programming of said plurality of units of programming by utility to the user of said receiver station apparatus. 27. The apparatus of claim 26 wherein said computer performs the operation of selecting at least two of said plurality units of programming and said selected at least two of said plurality of units of programming are ordered based on said determined ranks. 28. The method of claim 23 wherein said computer performs the operation of selecting a subset of said plurality of units of programming.
