A footwear or orthotic sole including an outer sole and a footwear or orthotic device that includes a bladder having an uppermost surface being curved concavely relative to an intended wearer's foot location and interconnected internal structure formed by a foamed plastic, a plastic composite and/or a blown rubber. The internal structures are substantially surrounded on at least the top, bottom and sides by the bladder. The bladder and internal structures are separated by an internal sipe. The internal sipe is formed by an inner surface of the bladder and an opposing surface of the internal structures; and the opposing surfaces forming the sipe can move relative to each other in a sliding motion. The bladder includes inside at least one media selected from a gas, a liquid, and a gel. The internal structures are proximate to both an upper inner surface and a lower inner surface of the bladder.

A footwear or orthotic sole, comprising: an outer sole; anda footwear or orthotic device, the device includingat least one bladder having side portions, an uppermost surface and a lowermost surface, both said surfaces being curved concavely on both said side portions to define concavely curved side portions of the at least one bladder, so that said concavely curved side portions, together with a middle portion extending between the side portions, form said at least one bladder in a U-shape, the concave curvature and the U-shape being determined relative to a central portion of an intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition;at least two internal structures, wherein said at least two internal structures are interconnected to each other, and each said interconnected internal structure is formed by a flexible, resilient midsole material including at least a foamed plastic, a plastic composite and/or a blown rubber,said two interconnected internal structures being substantially surrounded on at least a top, bottom and sides by said at least one bladder;said at least one bladder and said two interconnected internal structures being separated at least in part by at least one internal sipe;wherein said at least one internal sipe is formed by an inner surface of said at least one bladder and an opposing surface of said two interconnected internal structures; and the opposing surfaces forming the sipe can move relative to each other in a sliding motion;said at least one bladder including at least one media selected from a gas, a liquid, and a gel located inside said at least one bladder, andat least a part of each of two or more of said interconnected internal structures is proximate to both an upper inner surface and a lower inner surface of the at least one bladder when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 2. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, comprising at least four said internal structures, wherein each of said at least four internal structures is interconnected to at least one other said internal structure. 3. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, comprising at least eleven said internal structures, wherein each of said at least eleven internal structures is interconnected to at least one other said internal structure. 4. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, comprising at least four said internal structures, and wherein each of said at least four internal structures has at least two interconnections to at least one other internal structure. 5. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, comprising at least eleven said internal structures, and wherein each of said at least eleven internal structures has at least two interconnections to at least one other internal structure. 6. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein said at least two internal structures have a regular geometric shape when the footwear or orthotic sole is in an unloaded condition. 7. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein the internal structures have a columnar shape when the footwear or orthotic sole is in an unloaded condition. 8. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein the midsole material of said interconnected internal structures has a hardness selected from the group consisting of at least 90 durometers on a Shore A Hardness Scale, at least 40 durometers on a Shore D Hardness Scale, and at least 100 durometers on the Asker C Hardness Scale. 9. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein the device includes fiber. 10. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein at least one said bladder is located in a heel area of said footwear or orthotic sole. 11. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein at least a portion of an inner surface of said at least one bladder is attached to at least a portion of at least one of said interconnected internal structures. 12. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein at least one said bladder has at least one opening. 13. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein an outer surface of said at least one bladder forms at least a lateral and/or medial portion of a sidemost extent of a midsole of said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross section. 14. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein said device forms at least the entire midsole of said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross section. 15. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein at least the upper portion of said device extends upward to a location at least proximate to a lateral and/or medial sidemost extent of the intended wearer's foot location, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 16. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein said sipe comprises a media including at least one of a liquid and a coating. 17. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein said footwear or orthotic sole has a uniform radial thickness between a lateral extent of each side exclusive of insole or sockliner and upper, when measured in a frontal plane cross-section when said footwear or orthotic sole is in an upright, unloaded condition. 18. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, further including a midsole portion of said footwear or orthotic sole that is removable or insertable. 19. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein at least a portion of said sipe is a slit. 20. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein at least a portion of said opposing surfaces forming said sipe are in contact with each other when said footwear or orthotic sole is in an unloaded condition. 21. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein two or more said internal structures form an integral inner bladder. 22. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein said at least two internal structures are interconnected to each other by a flexible, resilient midsole material including at least a foamed plastic, a plastic composite and/or a blown rubber. 23. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein said at least one bladder completely surrounds at least said two internal structures. 24. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein said uppermost surface and said lowermost surface are also curved concavely in the middle portion of said at least one bladder that extends between said concavely curved side portions of said at least one bladder, said concave curvature being determined relative to a central portion of the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 25. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 1, wherein both of the concavely curved side portions of said at least one bladder extend to a location outside of a sidemost extent of both sides of the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 26. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 25, wherein both of the concavely curved side portions of said at least one bladder extend from a location underneath the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole to a location outside of a sidemost extent of both sides of the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 27. A footwear or orthotic sole, comprising: an outer sole; anda footwear or orthotic device, the device includingat least one bladder having side portions, an uppermost surface and a lowermost surface, both said surfaces being curved concavely on both said side portions to define concavely curved side portions of the at least one bladder, so that said concavely curved side portions, together with a middle portion extending between the side portions, form said at least one bladder in a U-shape, the concave curvature and the U-shape being determined relative to a central portion of an intended wearer's foot location on the footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition;at least one internal structure formed by a flexible, resilient midsole material including at least a foamed plastic, a plastic composite and/or a blown rubber,said internal structure being substantially surrounded on at least a top, bottom and sides by said at least one bladder;said at least one bladder and said internal structure being separated at least in part by at least one internal sipe formed by an inner surface of said at least one bladder and an opposing surface of said internal structure; and the surfaces forming the sipe can move relative to each other in a sliding motion;said at least one bladder further including one or more voids filled with at least one media selected from a gas, a liquid, and a gel located inside said at least one bladder, and all said gas, liquid or gel is contained exclusively by said at least one bladder;at least a part of said internal structure is proximate to both an upper inner surface and a lower inner surface of the at least one bladder when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition; andat least one said void does not extend to one of an upper inner surface and a lower inner surface of said at least one bladder, as viewed in a sagittal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 28. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 27, wherein said at least one bladder completely surrounds at least said internal structure. 29. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 27, wherein said uppermost surface and said lowermost surface are also curved concavely in the middle portion of said at least one bladder that extends between said concavely curved side portions of said at least one bladder, said concave curvature being determined relative to a central portion of the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 30. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 27, wherein both of the concavely curved side portions of said at least one bladder extend to a location outside of a sidemost extent of both sides of the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 31. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 30, wherein both of the concavely curved side portions of said at least one bladder extend from a location underneath the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole to a location outside of a sidemost extent of both sides of the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 32. A footwear or orthotic sole, comprising: an outer sole; anda footwear or orthotic device, the device includingat least one outer chamber, compartment or bladder having side portions, an uppermost surface and a lowermost surface, both said surfaces being curved concavely on both said side portions to define concavely curved side portions of the at least one outer chamber, compartment or bladder, so that said concavely curved side portions, together with a middle portion extending between the side portions, form said at least one outer chamber, compartment or bladder in a U-shape, the concave curvature and the U-shape being determined relative to a central portion of an intended wearer's foot location on the footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition;at least one inner chamber, compartment or bladder inside said at least one outer chamber, compartment or bladder;said at least one outer chamber, compartment or bladder and said at least one inner chamber, compartment or bladder being separated at least in part by at least one internal sipe;wherein said at least one internal sipe is formed by an inner surface of said at least one outer chamber, compartment or bladder and an outer surface of said at least one inner chamber, compartment or bladder; and the inner and outer surfaces forming the sipe oppose each other and can move relative to each other in a sliding motion;said at least one outer chamber, compartment or bladder further including one or more voids filled with at least one media selected from a gas, a liquid, and a gel located inside said at least one outer chamber, compartment or bladder, and all said gas, liquid or gel is contained exclusively by said at least one outer chamber, compartment or bladder;said at least one inner chamber, compartment or bladder being formed by at least one internal structure, wherein at least one said internal structure includes a flexible, resilient midsole material selected from a foamed plastic and a blown rubber,at least a part of said internal structure is proximate to both an upper inner surface and a lower inner surface of the at least one outer chamber, compartment or bladder when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition; andat least one said void does not extend to one of an upper inner surface and a lower inner surface of said at least one chamber, compartment or bladder, as viewed in a sagittal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 33. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 32, wherein said at least one compartment, chamber or bladder completely surrounds at least said two internal structures. 34. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 32, wherein said uppermost surface and said lowermost surface are also curved concavely in the middle portion of said at least one chamber, compartment or bladder that extends between said concavely curved side portions of said at least one chamber, compartment or bladder, said concave curvature being determined relative to a central portion of the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 35. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 32, wherein both of the concavely curved side portions of said at least one chamber, compartment or bladder extend to a location outside of a sidemost extent of both sides of the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 36. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 35, wherein both of the concavely curved side portions of said at least one chamber, compartment or bladder extend from a location underneath the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole to a location outside of a sidemost extent of both sides of the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 37. A footwear or orthotic sole, comprising: an outer sole; anda footwear or orthotic device, the device includingat least one bladder having side portions, an uppermost surface and a lowermost surface, both said surfaces being curved concavely on both said side portions to define concavely curved side portions of the at least one bladder, so that said concavely curved side portions, together with a middle portion extending between the side portions, form said at least one bladder in a U-shape, the concave curvature and the U-shape being determined relative to a central portion of intended wearer's foot location on the footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition;at least two internal structures, wherein said at least two internal structures are interconnected to each other;said two interconnected internal structures being located inside said at least one bladder, and each said interconnected internal structure is formed by a flexible, resilient midsole material including at least a foamed plastic, a plastic composite and/or a blown rubber;said at least one bladder and said two interconnected internal structures being separated at least in part by at least one internal sipe;wherein said at least one internal sipe is formed by an inner surface of said at least one bladder and an opposing surface of said two interconnected internal structures; and the opposing surfaces forming the sipe can move relative to each other in a sliding motion;at least one of said internal structures forms at least one gas, liquid, or gel-filled void that is in fluid communication with said at least one internal sipe;said at least one bladder including at least one media selected from a gas, a liquid, and a gel located inside said at least one bladder, andat least a part of each of two or more of said interconnected internal structures is proximate to both an upper inner surface and a lower inner surface of the at least one bladder when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 38. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 37, wherein at least two said interconnected internal structures are substantially surrounded on at least a top, bottom and sides by said at least one bladder. 39. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 37, wherein said at least one bladder completely surrounds at least said two internal structures. 40. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 37, wherein said uppermost surface and said lowermost surface are also curved concavely in the middle portion of said at least one bladder that extends between said concavely curved side portions of said at least one bladder, said concave curvature being determined relative to a central portion of the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 41. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 37, wherein both of the concavely curved side portions of said at least one bladder extend to a location outside of a sidemost extent of both sides of the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 42. The footwear or orthotic sole according to claim 41, wherein both of the concavely curved side portions of said at least one bladder extend from a location underneath the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole to a location outside of a sidemost extent of both sides of the intended wearer's foot location on said footwear or orthotic sole, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition. 43. A footwear or orthotic device, comprising: a footwear or orthotic sole; anda fixed or removable insert including at least one outer bladder having side portions, an uppermost surface and a lowermost surface, both said surfaces being curved concavely on both said side portions to define concavely curved side portions of the at least one outer bladder, so that said concavely curved side portions, together with a middle portion extending between the side portions, form said at least one outer bladder in a U-shape, the concave curvature and the U-shape being determined relative to a central portion intended wearer's foot location in the footwear or orthotic device, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition; said at least one outer bladder forming a component of the footwear or orthotic sole; and at least one inner bladder inside the at least one outer bladder, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section, said at least one inner bladder including at least a gas located at least inside of said at least one inner bladder,said at least one outer bladder and said at least one inner bladder being separated at least in part by at least one internal sipe, said internal sipe including a media comprising at least one material selected from the group consisting of a liquid, a gas, a gel, a foamed plastic, a rubber, and a coating;wherein said internal sipe is formed by an inner surface of said at least one outer bladder and an outer surface of said at least one inner bladder; and the inner and outer surfaces forming the sipe oppose each other, are separate from each other and therefore can move relative to each other in a sliding motion; and at least a portion of each of said surfaces forming the sipe are proximate to each other in an unloaded condition. 44. The footwear or orthotic device according to claim 43, wherein the at least one inner bladder is substantially surrounded on at least a top, bottom and sides by the at least one outer bladder. 45. The footwear or orthotic device as claimed in claim 43, wherein said internal sipe includes a magnetorheological fluid. 46. The footwear or orthotic device according to claim 43, wherein the internal sipe includes a media comprising at least one material selected from the group consisting of a liquid and a coating. 47. A footwear or orthotic device, comprising: a footwear or orthotic sole; andan insert including at least one outer bladder having side portions, an uppermost surface and a lowermost surface, both said surfaces being curved concavely on both said side portions to define concavely curved side portions of the at least one outer bladder, so that said concavely curved side portions, together with a middle portion extending between the side portions, form said at least one outer bladder in a U-shape, the concave curvature and the U-shape being determined relative to an intended wearer's foot location in the footwear or orthotic device, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section when the footwear or orthotic sole is upright and in an unloaded condition; said at least one outer bladder forming a component of the footwear or orthotic sole; and at least one inner bladder inside the at least one outer bladder, as viewed in a frontal plane cross-section, said at least one inner bladder including at least a gas located at least inside of said at least one inner bladder,said at least one outer bladder and said at least one inner bladder being separated at least in part by at least one internal sipe, said internal sipe including a media comprising two or more materials selected from the group consisting of a liquid, a gel, a gas, a foamed plastic, a rubber, and a coating;wherein said internal sipe is formed by an inner surface of said at least one outer bladder and an outer surface of said at least one inner bladder; and the inner and outer surfaces forming the sipe oppose each other, are separate from each other and therefore can move relative to each other in a sliding motion; and at least a portion of each of said surfaces forming the sipe are proximate to each other in an unloaded condition. 48. The footwear or orthotic device according to claim 47, wherein the at least one inner bladder is substantially surrounded on at least a top, bottom and sides by the at least one outer bladder. 49. The footwear or orthotic device as claimed in claim 47, wherein said internal sipe includes a magnetorheological fluid. 50. The footwear or orthotic device according to claim 47, wherein the internal sipe includes a media comprising at least one material selected from the group consisting of a liquid and a coating.
