A light-emitting diode (LED) illumination assembly, comprising: a retention housing defining an LED lamp-receiving recess;an LED lamp including a wire-piercing LED lead frame having first and second leads, the LED lamp inserted into the LED lamp-receiving recess;a first wire including a conductor and an insulator, and a second wire including a conductor and an insulator; andwherein the first lead of the LED lead frame includes a first cutting member and a second cutting member, and the first lead pierces at least a portion of the first insulator and the second lead of the LED lead frame pierces at least a portion of the second insulator, such that the first LED lead contacts the conductor of the first wire and the second LED lead contacts the conductor of the second wire. 2. The LED illumination assembly of claim 1, wherein the wire-piercing LED lead frame further includes a first transition portion for contacting the first wire and limiting the travel of the LED lamp. 3. The LED illumination assembly of claim 2, wherein the wire-piercing LED lead frame further includes a second transition portion for contacting the second wire and limiting the travel of the LED lamp. 4. The LED illumination assembly of claim 1, wherein the first lead and the second lead are separated by a frontward to rearward offset. 5. The LED illumination assembly of claim 1, wherein a length of each of the portions of the first wire and the second wire located between the top portion and the bottom portion of the retention housing lie along substantially the same axis. 6. The LED illumination assembly of claim 5 wherein the retention housing further includes a wire divider located between the first wire and the second wire. 7. The LED illumination assembly of claim 5, wherein the LED lead frame is substantially perpendicular to the first and the second wire. 8. The LED illumination assembly of claim 1, wherein the portions of the first wire and the second wire located between the top portion and the bottom portion of the retention housing lie in separate, parallel axes, such that the portions of the first wire and the second wire are adjacent to each other. 9. The LED illumination assembly of claim 1, further comprising a third wire having a third conductor and a third insulator. 10. The LED illumination assembly of claim 9, wherein the lead frame does not pierce the third conductor. 11. A single-wire light-emitting diode (LED) illumination assembly, comprising: a housing defining an LED lamp-receiving recess;an LED lamp including a wire-piercing LED lead frame having a first lead with a first cutting member defining a first plane and a second lead with a second cutting member defining a second plane, the LED lamp inserted into the LED lamp-receiving recess of the top portion;a wire including a forward portion and a rear portion, at least a portion of the wire retained by the housing, the wire defining a gap between the forward portion and the rear portion; andwherein the first lead of the LED lead frame pierces an insulator of the forward portion of the wire and contacts a conductor of the forward portion, and the second lead of the LED lead frame pierces an insulator of the rear portion of the wire and contacts a conductor of the rear portion, such that the forward portion of the wire is electrically connected to the rearward portion of the wire through the LED lamp. 12. The LED illumination assembly of claim 11, wherein the first plane and the second plane define parallel planes. 13. The LED illumination assembly of claim 12, wherein the first cutting member pierces the forward portion of the wire perpendicular to an axis defined by the length of the wire, and the second cutting member pierces the rear portion of the wire perpendicular to the axis. 14. The LED illumination assembly of claim 12, wherein the first cutting member pierces the forward portion of the wire at an angle of 45 degrees with respect to an axis defined by the length of the wire, and the second cutting member pierces the rear portion of the wire at an angle of approximately 45 degrees with respect to the axis. 15. The LED illumination assembly of claim 11, wherein the first plane and the second plane define the same plane. 16. The illumination assembly of claim 11, wherein the housing includes a top portion coupled to a bottom portion, the top portion and the bottom portion each defining a groove for receiving the wire. 17. The illumination assembly of claim 16, wherein the bottom portion further comprises a wire divider projecting upwards and away from the bottom portion and into the gap between the forward portion and the rearward portion of the wire. 18. The illumination assembly of claim 17, wherein the wire divider comprises a non-conductive material. 19. A light-emitting diode (LED) illumination assembly, comprising: an LED lamp including a lead frame having a first wire-piercing lead with a first cutting member and a second wire-piercing lead with a second cutting member;a housing defining a central recess and a wire channel; anda retainer inserted into the central recess of the housing and above the wire channel;wherein the LED lamp is inserted into a top portion of the central recess of the housing and into contact with the retainer such that the first wire-piercing lead and the second wire-piercing lead are in contact with, and supported by, the retainer, and the first and second cutting members extend into the wire channel. 20. The LED illumination assembly of claim 19, further comprising a first wire in the wire channel, the first cutting member piercing the first wire to make electrical contact with a conductor of the first wire. 21. The LED illumination assembly of claim 20, further comprising a second wire in the wire channel, the second cutting member piercing the second wire to make electrical contact with a conductor of the second wire. 22. The LED illumination assembly of claim 19, wherein the housing comprises a top portion coupled to a bottom portion. 23. The LED illumination assembly of claim 22, wherein the top portion includes a first shoulder projection and a second shoulder projection, the bottom portion defines a left recess and a right recess, the left recess receiving the left shoulder and the right recess receiving the right shoulder, thereby coupling the top portion to the bottom portion. 24. The LED illumination assembly of claim 19, wherein the retainer defines a slot, and the slot receives a portion of the first and second leads, thereby retaining and orienting the LED lamp in the housing. 25. The LED illumination assembly of claim 19, further comprising a bulb cover placed over a top portion of the LED lamp, a portion of the bulb cover extending into the housing. 26. The LED illumination assembly of claim 19, further comprising a branch clip attached to the housing. 27. The LED illumination assembly of claim 26, wherein the branch clip comprises a first arm and a second arm forming a C shape. 28. The LED illumination assembly of claim 19, further comprising a pair of wire clips attached to the housing. 29. The LED illumination assembly of claim 28, each wire clip including a first straight arm extending away from the housing, and a second curved or angled arm, the first and second arm defining an opening sized to receive a wire. 30. The LED illumination assembly of claim 1, wherein the retention housing includes a top portion coupled to a bottom portion, and at least a portion of each of the first wire and the second wire are located between the top portion and the bottom portion of the retention housing. 31. A light-emitting diode (LED) illumination assembly, comprising: a retention housing including a top portion coupled to a bottom portion, the top portion defining an LED lamp-receiving recess;an LED lamp including a wire-piercing LED lead frame having first and second leads, the LED lamp inserted into the LED lamp-receiving recess of the top portion;a first wire including a conductor and an insulator, and a second wire including a conductor and an insulator, at least a portion of each of the first wire and the second wire located between the top portion and the bottom portion of the retention housing; andwherein the first lead of the LED lead frame pierces at least a portion of the first insulator and the second lead of the LED lead frame pierces at least a portion of the second insulator, such that the first LED lead contacts the conductor of the first wire and the second LED lead contacts the conductor of the second wire, and the first lead of the wire-piercing LED lead frame includes a first transition portion for contacting the first wire and the second lead of the wire-piercing LED lead frame includes a second transition portion for contacting the second wire, thereby limiting the travel of the LED lamp, andwherein the transition portion of the first lead comprises a step. 32. A light-emitting diode (LED) illumination assembly, comprising: a retention housing including a top portion coupled to a bottom portion, the top portion defining an LED lamp-receiving recess;an LED lamp including a wire-piercing LED lead frame having first and second leads, the LED lamp inserted into the LED lamp-receiving recess of the top portion;a first wire including a conductor and an insulator, and a second wire including a conductor and an insulator, at least a portion of each of the first wire and the second wire located between the top portion and the bottom portion of the retention housing; and a third wire having a third conductor and a third insulator; andwherein the first lead of the LED lead frame pierces at least a portion of the first insulator and the second lead of the LED lead frame pierces at least a portion of the second insulator, such that the first LED lead contacts the conductor of the first wire and the second LED lead contacts the conductor of the second wire. 33. The LED illumination assembly of claim 32, wherein the lead frame does not pierce the third conductor. 34. The LED illumination assembly of claim 32, wherein the wire-piercing LED lead frame further includes a first transition portion for contacting the first wire and limiting the travel of the LED lamp and a second transition portion for contacting the second wire and limiting the travel of the LED lamp. 35. A light-emitting diode (LED) illumination assembly, comprising: an LED lamp including a lead frame having a first wire-piercing lead with a first cutting member and a second wire-piercing lead with a second cutting member;a housing defining a central recess and a wire channel;a branch clip attached to the housing; anda retainer inserted into a bottom portion of the central recess of the housing;wherein the LED lamp is inserted into a top portion of the central recess of the housing and into contact with the retainer such that the first and second cutting members extend into the wire channel. 36. A light-emitting diode (LED) illumination assembly, comprising: an LED lamp including a lead frame having a first wire-piercing lead with a first cutting member and a second wire-piercing lead with a second cutting member;a housing defining a central recess and a wire channel;a pair of wire clips attached to the housing; anda retainer inserted into a bottom portion of the central recess of the housing;wherein the LED lamp is inserted into a top portion of the central recess of the housing and into contact with the retainer such that the first and second cutting members extend into the wire channel. 37. A light-emitting diode (LED) illumination assembly, comprising: a retention housing including a top portion coupled to a bottom portion, the top portion defining an LED lamp-receiving recess;an LED lamp including a wire-piercing LED lead frame having first and second leads, the LED lamp inserted into the LED lamp-receiving recess of the top portion;a first wire including a conductor and an insulator, and a second wire including a conductor and an insulator, at least a portion of each of the first wire and the second wire located between the top portion and the bottom portion of the retention housing; andwherein the first lead and the second lead are separated by a frontward to rearward offset, and the first lead of the LED lead frame pierces at least a portion of the first insulator and the second lead of the LED lead frame pierces at least a portion of the second insulator, such that the first LED lead contacts the conductor of the first wire and the second LED lead contacts the conductor of the second wire. 38. The LED illumination assembly of claim 37, wherein the first lead further comprises a forward-projecting ledge joining a top portion of the first lead to a middle portion of the first lead, the forward-projecting ledge comprising a portion of the offset. 39. A light-emitting diode (LED) illumination assembly, comprising: a retention housing;an LED lamp including a wire-piercing LED lead frame having first and second leads, the first lead defining a front planar surface and a rear planar surface, the second lead defining a front planar surface and a rear planar surface, the front planar surface of the first lead being coplanar with the front planar surface of the second lead, the LED lamp retained by the retention housing;a first wire including a conductor and an insulator and defining a first horizontal axis, and a second wire including a conductor and an insulator; andwherein the first lead pierces at least a portion of the first insulator and the second lead pierces at least a portion of the second insulator, such that the first lead contacts the conductor of the first wire and the second lead contacts the conductor of the second wire, the front planar surface of the first lead being transverse to the first horizontal axis defined by the first wire. 40. The LED illumination assembly of claim 39, wherein the first lead comprises a first cutting member and a second cutting member. 41. The LED illumination assembly of claim 40, wherein the first cutting member and the second cutting member define a conductor-receiving portion of the first lead. 42. A light-emitting diode (LED) illumination assembly, comprising: a retention housing defining an LED lamp-receiving recess;an LED lamp including a first lead comprising a first tip and a second tip, a second lead comprising a third tip and a fourth tip, the first tip, second tip, third tip and fourth tip aligned along a common axis, the LED lamp inserted into the LED lamp-receiving recess of the retainer housing;a first wire including a conductor and an insulator, and a second wire including a conductor and an insulator; andwherein the first lead pierces at least a portion of the first insulator and the second lead pierces at least a portion of the second insulator, such that the first lead contacts the conductor of the first wire and the second lead contacts the conductor of the second wire. 43. The LED illumination assembly of claim 42, wherein the retention housing includes a top portion coupled to a bottom portion, and at least a portion of each of the first wire and the second wire are located between the top portion and the bottom portion of the retention housing. 44. A light-emitting diode (LED) illumination assembly, comprising: a retention housing;an LED lamp including a lens, a first lead comprising a first planar surface extending downwardly and perpendicularly from a bottom surface of the lens and a second lead comprising a second planar surface extending downwardly and perpendicularly from the bottom surface of the lens, the first planar surface of the first lead being coplanar to the second planar surface of the second lead, the LED lamp retained by the retention housing;a first wire including a conductor and an insulator, and a second wire including a conductor and an insulator, at least a portion of each of the first wire and the second wire located between a top portion and a bottom portion of the retention housing; andwherein the first lead pierces at least a portion of the first insulator and the second lead pierces at least a portion of the second insulator, such that the first lead contacts the conductor of the first wire and the second lead contacts the conductor of the second wire. 45. The LED illumination assembly of claim 44, wherein the first lead and the second lead each comprise a first cutting member and a second cutting member. 46. A light-emitting diode (LED) illumination assembly, comprising: a retention housing;an LED lamp including a first lead including a first conductor-receiving recess, the first conductor-receiving recess defined by opposing edges of a bottom portion of the first lead, a second lead including a second conductor-receiving recess, the second conductor-receiving recess defined by opposing edges of a bottom portion of the second lead, and the LED lamp retained by the retention housing;a first wire including a conductor and an insulator, and a second wire including a conductor and an insulator; andwherein the first lead pierces at least a portion of the first insulator and the second lead pierces at least a portion of the second insulator, such that the first LED lead contacts the conductor of the first wire at the first conductor-receiving portion and the second LED lead contacts the conductor of the second wire at the second conductor-receiving portion. 47. The LED illumination assembly of claim 46, wherein the first lead and the second lead each comprise a first cutting member and a second cutting member.
