A pouch, designed to be attached, either directly or indirectly, to a container, is provided with two end portions, each of which is formed with an elongated slit. When the pouch is directly attached atop a container, the end portions are pulled over the lid and catch a rim portion of the container. When the pouch is placed upon a lid covered container, the end portions of the pouch can catch or engage the lid. In accordance with an aspect of the invention, a pair of spaced slits extends from each elongated slit, thereby creating a tab or flap in each end portion. The flap is configured to either directly catch a rim of the container or be tucked under the lid, i.e., between the lid and the container, to attach the pouch to the lid and, indirectly, the container.

1. A packaging assembly comprising: a container including a base, a rim and an upstanding side portion extending between the base and the rim, said container including a closed, internal storage region storing a first item; anda pouch formed from a flexible material, said pouch including opposing sidewall portions interconnected at opposing end regions and defining an interior cavity storing a second item, each of said end regions being provided with an elongated slit, said pouch being attached to the container by extending across the closed, internal storage region, with the opposing end regions extending about the rim and attaching the pouch to the container. 2. The packaging assembly according to claim 1, wherein the pouch further includes a pair of spaced slits extending from the elongated slit so as to establish a flap between the pair of spaced slits in each of said end regions, with the pouch being attached to the container through each of the flaps. 3. The packaging assembly according to claim 2, wherein each of the opposing end regions constitutes a sealed region connecting the opposing sidewall portions and wherein each of said elongate slits is fully contained within a respective said sealed region. 4. The packaging assembly according to claim 3, wherein each pair of spaced slits is also fully contained within a respective said sealed region. 5. The packaging assembly according to claim 1, wherein the first and second items constitute first and second food items. 6. The packaging assembly according to claim 5, wherein the first food item has a high moisture content and the second food item is a crunchy, low moisture content food item adapted to be mixed with the first food item prior to consuming the first and second food items. 7. The packaging assembly according to claim 6, wherein the first food item constitutes a yogurt or parfait, and the second food item constitutes granola. 8. The packaging assembly according to claim 1, wherein the pouch, as attached to the container, is in tension. 9. The packaging assembly according to claim 1, wherein the container constitutes a soft drink can. 10. A packaging assembly comprising: a container including a base, a rim and an upstanding side portion extending between the base and the rim, said container including an internal storage region for storing a first item;a lid having a body portion establishing a peripheral lip, said lid being positioned upon the container, with the peripheral lip extending about the rim of the container to close the internal storage region; anda pouch formed from a flexible material, said pouch including opposing sidewall portions interconnected at opposing end regions and defining an interior cavity for storing a second item, each of said end regions being provided with an elongated slit, said pouch being attached to the container by extending across the internal storage region, with the opposing end regions extending about the rim and attaching the pouch to the container, said pouch being indirectly attached to the container by being positioned upon the lid, with the opposing end regions extending about the body portion and engaging the peripheral lip. 11. The packaging assembly according to claim 10, wherein the pouch is attached to the container with each flap projecting between the upstanding side portion and the peripheral lip. 12. A method of packaging first and second items comprising: placing the first item in an internal storage region of a container having a base, a sidewall portion and a rim;closing the internal storage region to establish a closed internal storage region containing the first item; andattaching a pouch, which is formed from a flexible material, includes opposing sidewall portions interconnected at opposing end regions with each of said end regions being provided with an elongated slit, and defines an interior cavity having stored therein a second item, to the container by extending the flexible pouch across the closed internal storage region, with the opposing end regions extending about the rim and attaching the pouch to the container. 13. The method of claim 12, wherein the pouch further includes a pair of spaced slits extending from the elongated slit so as to establish a flap between the pair of spaced slits in each of said end regions, with the pouch being attached to the container through each of the flaps. 14. The method of claim 13, further comprising: attaching a lid, having a body portion establishing a peripheral lip, to the container to close the internal storage region with the peripheral lip extending about the rim of the container, said pouch being indirectly attached to the container by positioning the flexible pouch upon the lid, extending the opposing end regions about the body portion and positioning each flap between the side wall portion of the container and the peripheral lip of the lid. 15. The method of claim 14, wherein the first food item has a high moisture content and the second food item is a crunchy, low moisture content food item adapted to be mixed with the first food item prior to consuming the first and second food items. 16. The method of claim 15, wherein the first item is yogurt or parfait and the second item is granola. 17. The method of claim 14, further comprising, in attaching the pouch to the container, pulling each opposing end region around the side wall portion until a respective said flap extends about the lid and below the peripheral lip, and then releasing the said opposing end region such that said flap slips between the side wall portion and the lid. 18. The method of claim 12, wherein attaching the pouch includes tensioning the opposing sidewall portions to extend the flexible pouch across the closed internal storage region, with some of the tension being maintained on the sidewall portions after fully attaching the pouch to the container.
