A computer-implemented method of providing personalized route information involves gathering a plurality of past location indicators over time for a wireless client device, determining a future driving objective using the plurality of previously-gathered location indicators, obtaining real-time traffic data for an area proximate to the determined driving objective, and generating a suggested route for the driving objective using the near real-time traffic data.

1. A computer-implemented method of providing personalized route information, comprising: gathering a plurality of past location indicators over a period of time for a wireless device;identifying one or more prior travel routes comprising a start point and an end point based on one or more periods of immobility connected by one or more periods of mobility;correlating the one or more travel routes with one or more reoccurring events;determining at least one of the prior travel routes is correlated with a current event;generating a suggested route for the current event based on a location of the wireless device and the at least one of the prior travel routes; andproviding the suggested route for display at the wireless device. 2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising: obtaining transportation flow data for an area associated with the at least one of the prior travel routes, wherein the suggested route is generated based on the transportation flow data. 3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein a respective stop point is determined based on a shorter of multiple periods of inactivity associated with a corresponding period of mobility. 4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising: shifting an endpoint for the suggested route to bypass an area proximate the endpoint where navigational advice is not helpful. 5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising: transmitting the suggested route to the wireless device. 6. The computer-implemented method of claim 5, wherein the suggested route is transmitted at a predetermined time of day. 7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising transmitting information indicative of real time traffic data to the wireless device. 8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the location indicators are automatically gathered using a GPS enabled device. 9. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the suggested route is provided for display in connection with an electronic map. 10. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein each location indicator is gathered in response to a request from a user of the wireless device. 11. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein each location indicator is gathered as the result of a cell-tower hand-off for the wireless device. 12. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the location indicators are grouped according to multiple different time periods. 13. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the client device is a cell phone or an on-board navigation system. 14. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the one or more reoccurring events comprises one or more calendar events. 15. A non-transitory machine-readable medium having machine-executable instructions stored thereon, which when executed by a machine or computer cause the machine or computer to perform a method, the method comprising: gathering a plurality of past location indicators over a period of time for a wireless device;identifying one or more prior travel routes comprising a start point and an end point based on one or more periods of immobility connected by one or more periods of mobility;correlating the one or more travel routes with one or more reoccurring events;determining at least one of the prior travel routes is correlated with a current event;generating a suggested route for the current event based on a location of the wireless device and the at least one of the prior travel routes; andproviding the suggested route for display at the wireless device. 16. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15, the method further comprising: obtaining transportation flow data for an area associated with the at least one of the prior travel routes, wherein the suggested route is generated based on the transportation flow data. 17. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein a respective stop point is determined based on a shorter of multiple periods of inactivity associated with a corresponding period of mobility. 18. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15, the method further comprising: shifting an endpoint for the suggested route to bypass an area proximate the endpoint where navigational advice is not helpful. 19. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the one or more reoccurring events comprises one or more periods of time for one or more days of the week. 20. A system, comprising: a processor; anda memory including software that, when executed by the processor, causes the processor to: gather a plurality of past location indicators over a period of time for a wireless device;identify one or more prior travel routes comprising a start point and an end point based on one or more periods of immobility connected by one or more periods of mobility;correlate the one or more travel routes with one or more reoccurring events;determine at least one of the prior travel routes is correlated with a current event;obtaining transportation flow data for an area associated with the at least one of the prior travel routes;generate a suggested route for the current event based on position information for the wireless device and the at least one of the prior travel routes and on the transportation flow data; andprovide the suggested route for display at the wireless device.
