The specification and drawing figures describe and show a low profile mounting system that includes a at least one rail. A plurality of tracks is formed in the rail with opposing jaws. The opposing jaws define a slot. The opposing jaws are disposed in the rail asymmetrically to the longitudinal axis of the rail. At least one ledge monolithically extends from the rail for holding an object such as a solar panel. A coupler is provided for demountably connecting a solar panel to the rail. A cleat also is provided for attaching the system to a surface. A connector connects the rail to the cleat. A low profile solar panel mounting system, comprising: a rail;wherein the rail includes a ledge, a first track and a second track, wherein the first track and the second track each extend along an entire length of the rail, wherein the first track is disposed perpendicular to the second track, and wherein the ledge extends outwardly from an outer-most side of the rail and is disposed on the outer-most side of the rail between the first track and the second track;and wherein the rail further includes a chamber defined by opposing walls of the rail, a first structural member, and a second structural member, wherein the first structural member and the second structural member each are disposed between the first track and the second track and extend from one of the opposing walls to another one of the opposing walls;a coupler engageable with the first track; anda cleat engageable with the second track. 2. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 1, wherein the coupler includes a clamp and an attachment device, wherein the attachment device is engageable within the first track. 3. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 2, wherein the clamp is a substantially flat planar surface. 4. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 2, wherein the clamp is a gutter. 5. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 2, wherein the clamp is a U-shaped structure. 6. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 1, further comprising a plate engageable with an end of the rail. 7. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 1, wherein the first track is disposed at an upper surface of the rail, wherein the second track is disposed in one of the opposing walls of the rail, and wherein the upper surface is perpendicular to the one of the opposing walls. 8. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 7, wherein the ledge is disposed closer to the second track than the first track. 9. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 7, wherein another one of the opposing walls of the rail does not include a track. 10. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 1, wherein the first track and the second track have an identical structural configuration. 11. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 1 in combination with a solar panel, wherein the solar panel is disposed between the ledge and the coupler and wherein a frame of the solar panel engages with the ledge and the coupler. 12. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 1, wherein the first track and the second track each include opposing jaws that define a respective slot. 13. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 12, wherein a bottom of the slot of the first track is disposed below an upper surface of the rail. 14. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 12, wherein a head of an attachment device is slidably insertable into the slot of the first track. 15. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 1, wherein the first track is a longitudinal cavity and includes a threaded receptor body. 16. The low profile solar panel mounting system according to claim 15, wherein a threaded portion of an attachment device is matable with the threaded receptor body. 17. A low profile solar panel mounting system, comprising: a rail, wherein the rail includes a ledge, a first track and a second track, wherein the first track and the second track each extend along an entire length of the rail, and wherein the first track is disposed perpendicular to the second track;a coupler engageable with the first track; anda cleat engageable with the second track;wherein the first track is disposed at an upper surface of the rail, wherein the second track is disposed in a wall of the rail, wherein the upper surface is perpendicular to the wall;and wherein an enclosed cavity is disposed opposite from the second track, wherein a structural member extending from opposing walls of the rail is a top wall of the second track and the cavity, and wherein a lower surface of the rail is a bottom wall of the second track and the cavity.
