1. A system comprising: a remote unit associated with a premise;a first interface coupled to the remote unit;a base unit coupled to the first interface;a control unit coupled to the base unit;a dialer coupled to the control unit;a second interface coupled to the dialer and a wireless data network;wherein, in operation: the remote unit provides, using the first interface, a visitor indication signal to the base unit, the visual indication signal indicating whether a visitor is proximate to the remote unit;the base unit provides, in response to the visitor indication signal, an occupancy indication signal to the control unit, the occupancy indication signal indicating to the control unit but not the visitor whether an occupant is at the premise;the control unit, in response to the occupancy indication signal indicating the occupant is away from the premise, instructs: the remote unit to provide a spoof signal to inaccurately inform the visitor that the occupant is at the premise;the dialer to contact, using the wireless data network, a series of contact addresses corresponding to a contact list of the occupant. 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the first interface comprises a network cable, a wireless data connection, a Bluetooth connection, or a coaxial cable. 3. The system of claim 1, wherein the wireless data network comprises a second generation (2G) wireless network, a third generation (3G) wireless network, a fourth generation (4G) wireless network, or a Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) network. 4. The system of claim 1, further comprising an image recorder coupled to the first interface, wherein, in operation, the image recorder captures a recording of an area proximate to the remote unit in response to the visitor indication signal. 5. The system of claim 4, wherein the image recorder comprises a video recorder or a still image recorder. 6. The system of claim 4, wherein, in operation, the image recorder provides the recording to the base unit through the wireless data network. 7. The system of claim 4, wherein, in operation: the remote unit provides the visitor indication signal in response to a unique code associated with the visitor;the recording comprises an image captured by the image recorder;the control unit sends the image to the occupant over the wireless data network. 8. The system of claim 1, wherein the spoof signal is configured to activate an audible alarm at the remote unit. 9. The system of claim 1, wherein the series of contact addresses comprises a series of telephone numbers or a series of video chat addresses. 10. The system of claim 1, wherein the second interface further comprises a land line, and the control unit, in operation, instructs the dialer to contact the series of contact addresses over the land line. 11. The system of claim 1, wherein the visitor indication signal corresponds to a plurality of visitor events, and the control unit is configured to provide one of a plurality of predetermined textual messages to the occupant, each of the plurality of predetermined textual messages corresponding to one of the plurality of visitor events. 12. The system of claim 11, wherein each of the plurality of visitor events corresponds to occurrences in one of a plurality of zones on the premise. 13. The system of claim 12, wherein the occurrences are detected using a plurality of sensors, each of the plurality of sensors corresponding to one of the plurality of zones. 14. The system of claim 1, wherein the remote unit comprises a biometric scanner adapted to verify identity of the visitor. 15. The system of claim 14, wherein the biometric scanner comprises a fingerprint scanner, a handprint scanner, or a retina scanner. 16. The system of claim 1, wherein the remote unit comprises a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card, and wherein, in operation, the SIM card is configured to indicate whether the remote unit has been moved. 17. The system of claim 16, wherein the SIM card comprises a static SIM card having a fixed address for billing, the fixed address adapted to be used to determine whether the remote unit has been moved. 18. A method comprising: providing, over a first interface coupling a remote unit to a base unit associated with a premise, a visitor indication signal indicating whether a visitor is proximate to the remote unit, the remote unit being coupled to the base unit over the first interface;providing, in response to the visitor indication signal, an occupancy indication signal indicating an occupant is away from the premise;instructing, in response to the occupancy indication signal, the remote unit to provide a spoof signal to inaccurately inform the visitor that the occupant is at the premise if the occupancy indication signal indicates the occupant is away from the premise;instructing, in response to the occupancy indication signal, a dialer to contact, over a wireless data network, a series of contact addresses corresponding to a contact list of the occupant, if the occupancy indication signal indicates the occupant is away from the premise. 19. The method of claim 18, further comprising: providing the visitor indication signal in response to a unique code associated with the visitor;capturing an image of an area proximate to the remote unit in response to the visitor indication signal;sending the image to the occupant over the wireless data network. 20. A system comprising: means for providing, over a first interface coupling a remote unit to a base unit associated with a premise, a visitor indication signal indicating whether a visitor is proximate to the remote unit, the remote unit being coupled to the base unit over the first interface;means for providing, in response to the visitor indication signal, an occupancy indication signal indicating an occupant is away from the premise;means for instructing, in response to the occupancy indication signal: the remote unit to provide a spoof signal to inaccurately inform the visitor that the occupant is at the premise if the occupancy indication signal indicates the occupant is away from the premise;a dialer to contact, over a wireless data network, a series of contact addresses corresponding to a contact list of the occupant, if the occupancy indication signal indicates the occupant is away from the premise.
