1. A shaped body comprising: a bioactive filler that comprises 45S5 glass or combeite, and an inorganic material that is the oxidation-reduction reaction product of a metal cation and an oxidizing agent together with a precursor anion oxidizable by said oxidizing agent and that has macro-, meso-, and microporosity and a pore volume of from about 50% to about 95% wherein all or part of said shaped body is permeated with a polymer, wherein said inorganic material comprises calcium phosphate and said polymer comprises gelatin. 2. The shaped body of claim 1, wherein said body is osteoinductive. 3. The shaped body of claim 1, wherein said body is osteoconductive. 4. The shaped body of claim 1, further comprising a medicament. 5. The shaped body of claim 4, wherein the medicament is growth hormone, antibiotic material, proteins, cell signaling material, steroids, analgesics, or fertility drugs, or combinations thereof. 6. A method of restoring bony defects comprising: accessing said bony defect;placing at said bony defect the shaped body of claim 1; andwherein all or part of said shaped body is permeated with a polymer. 7. The method of claim 6, where said shaped body delivers medicaments internal to the body. 8. The shaped body of claim 1, wherein said calcium phosphate comprises β-tricalcium phosphate. 9. The method of claim 6, wherein the shaped body further comprises a medicament. 10. The method of claim 9, wherein the medicament is growth hormone, antibiotic material, proteins, cell signaling material, steroids, analgesics, or fertility drugs, or combinations thereof. 11. The method of claim 6, wherein said calcium phosphate comprises β-tricalcium phosphate.
