The present invention provides waterproof, breathable non-textile seamed articles which exhibit high levels of durability and allow wearers a high level of flexibility and article strength. This invention is of particular interest for use in dexterous hand coverings and conformable foot coverings.

A seamed article comprising: (a) a first non-textile material comprising a composite microporous polymer layer and a first polymer layer, the composite microporous layer and the first polymer layer being adhered via an adhesive;(b) a second non-textile material comprising a second polymer layer;

A seamed article comprising: (a) a first non-textile material comprising a composite microporous polymer layer and a first polymer layer, the composite microporous layer and the first polymer layer being adhered via an adhesive;(b) a second non-textile material comprising a second polymer layer; and(c) a seam joining the first non-textile material to the second non-textile material,wherein the first polymer layer is adjacent to and in contact with the second polymer layer,wherein at least one of the first non-textile material and the second non-textile material is breathable and waterproof, andwherein the first non-textile material differs in composition from the second non-textile material. 2. The seamed article of claim 1, wherein the first non-textile material exhibits waterproofness and abrasion resistance at greater than 63 cycles as measured according to the procedure set forth in ASTM test method D3886. 3. The seamed article of claim 1, wherein the first non-textile material and the second non-textile material are breathable. 4. The seamed article of claim 1, wherein the first non-textile material and the second non-textile material are waterproof. 5. The seamed article of claim 1, wherein the composite microporous polymer layer comprises two or more microporous materials. 6. The seamed article of claim 1, wherein the composite microporous polymer layer comprises at least two layers of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene. 7. The seamed article of claim 1, wherein the article is selected from a hand covering and a foot covering. 8. The seamed article of claim 1, wherein the article is a barrier to at least one member selected from a chemical agent and a biological agent. 9. The seamed article of claim 1, wherein the second non-textile material consists of the second polymer layer. 10. A seamed article comprising: a first non-textile material comprising a microporous polymer layer and a first polymer layer, the microporous polymer layer comprising two or more microporous materials;a second non-textile material comprising a second polymer layer; anda seam joining the first non-textile material to the second non-textile material,wherein the microporous polymer layer and the first polymer are adhered via an adhesive layer, andwherein the microporous materials include two or more dissimilar microporous polymer materials. 11. The seamed article of claim 10, wherein the microporous materials comprise at least two layers of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene. 12. The seamed article of claim 10, wherein the first polymer layer is adjacent to and in contact with the second polymer layer. 13. The seamed article of claim 10, wherein the first non-textile material differs in composition from the second non-textile material. 14. The seamed article of claim 10, wherein the microporous polymer layer is a composite microporous polymer layer.
