A compression seal assembly that can be installed on a wall without requiring access to both sides of the wall. The compression seal comprises a core member, a split washer, a gasket, and a first nut. The core member includes a cylindrical body and a flange rigidly attached to the cylindrical body. The cylindrical body includes a smooth cylindrical portion separating the flange from a first set of threads. The split washer is helical shaped and has a first end and a second end. The split washer is ramped through the hole until the split washer is entirely on the first side of the wall. A gasket is then inserted onto the smooth cylindrical portion adjacent the second side of the wall, and the first nut is threaded onto the first set of threads. As the first nut is tightened, the split washer, the wall and the gasket are compressed between the flange and first nut.

1. A compression seal assembly, adapted for mounting to a wall having first and second oppositely-facing sides and a hole having a hole diameter, the compression seal assembly comprising: a core member including a cylindrical body defining a longitudinal axis and a flange, the cylindrical body having a first end and a second end, the flange being rigidly attached to the first end of the cylindrical body and having a flange outer diameter that is larger than the cylindrical body but configured to be smaller than the hole diameter, the flange including a bearing surface facing axially toward the second end of the cylindrical body;a first set of external threads on an outer surface of the cylindrical body;a first nut threaded onto the first set of external threads;a split washer surrounding the cylindrical body adjacent the bearing surface of the flange, the split washer being helical-shaped and having first and second ends defining an axial gap therebetween, the split washer having an inner edge defining an inner diameter that is larger than the cylindrical body and an outer edge defining an outer diameter configured to be larger than the hole diameter;wherein the first nut is configured to be positioned on the second side of the wall and the split washer and flange are configured to be positioned on the first side of the wall;wherein tightening the first nut on the first set of external threads compresses the split washer between the flange and first nut, such that the split washer is deflected into a flat condition to apply an axial load on the first nut;wherein the split washer is configured to be passed through the hole from the second side of the wall to the first side of the wall by receiving an edge of the hole in the axial gap and ramping the split washer through the hole. 2. The compression seal assembly of claim 1, the cylindrical body further comprising a smooth cylindrical portion adjacent to the flange bearing surface, the smooth cylindrical portion having an cylindrical diameter. 3. The compression seal assembly of claim 2, wherein the distance between the inner edge of the split washer and the outer edge of the split washer defines a width of the split washer, and wherein the combined width of the split washer and the cylindrical diameter is configured to be less than the hole diameter. 4. The compression seal assembly of claim 2, further comprising a gasket surrounding the smooth cylindrical portion and configured to be positioned against the second side of the wall. 5. The compression seal assembly of claim 1, the core member further including an internal bore extending through the cylindrical body and the flange. 6. The compression seal assembly of claim 5, further including a conduit configured to be secured to the wall and that is extendable through the internal bore. 7. The compression seal assembly of claim 6, further comprising a second set of external threads on the cylindrical body adjacent the second end; anda compression nut threaded onto the second set of external threads, the compression nut providing a circumferential compressive force on the conduit to resist axial movement of the conduit with respect to the core member. 8. The compression seal assembly of claim 1, wherein ramping the split washer comprises moving the split washer in a circular motion about the longitudinal axis such that at least one side of the wall slides along the circumference of the split washer from the first end to the second end. 9. The compression seal assembly of claim 1, wherein the split washer further comprises an annular seat extending circumferentially between the inner edge of the split washer and the outer edge of the split washer, the seat centering the flange bearing surface with respect to the split washer. 10. The compression seal assembly of claim 2, wherein the smooth cylindrical portion has an axial length sufficient to accommodate the combined axial length of at least the split washer. 11. A compression seal assembly, adapted for mounting to a wall having first and second oppositely-facing sides and a hole having a hole diameter, the compression seal assembly comprising: a core member including a cylindrical body, a flange, and an internal bore, the cylindrical body defining a longitudinal axis, the cylindrical body having a first end, a second end, a smooth cylindrical portion positioned proximate the first end and having a cylindrical diameter, the flange being rigidly attached to the first end of the cylindrical body adjacent the smooth cylindrical portion, the flange having an outer diameter that is larger than the cylindrical body but is configured to be smaller than the hole diameter, the flange including a bearing surface facing axially toward the second end of the cylindrical body, the internal bore extending through the cylindrical body and the flange;a split washer surrounding the core member adjacent the bearing surface of the flange, the split washer being helical-shaped and having first and second ends defining an axial gap therebetween, the split washer having an inner edge defining an inner diameter that is larger than the core member and an outer edge defining an outer diameter that is configured to be larger than the hole diameter;a gasket;a first set of external threads adjacent the smooth cylindrical portion;a first nut threaded onto the first set of external threads;a pair of external facets adjacent the first set of threads, the facets comprising flat surfaces positioned on diametrically opposed sides of the core member;a conduit extendable through the internal bore; andwherein the gasket and the first nut are configured to be positioned on the second side of the wall and the split washer and flange are configured to be positioned on the first side of the wall, wherein tightening the first nut on the first set of external threads compresses the split washer between the flange and first nut, such that the split washer is configured to contact the wall and is deflected into a flat condition to apply an axial load on the first nut, andwherein the distance between the inner edge of the split washer and the outer edge of the split washer defines a width of the split washer, and the combined width of the split washer and the cylindrical diameter is configured to be less than the hole diameter. 12. The compression seal assembly of claim 11, wherein the gasket surrounds the smooth cylindrical portion. 13. The compression seal assembly of claim 11, further comprising a second set of external threads on the cylindrical body adjacent the second end; anda compression nut threaded onto the second set of external threads, the compression nut providing a circumferential compressive force on the conduit to resist axial movement of the conduit with respect to the core member. 14.
