An adaptor for delivering an aerosolized medicament to a patient with concurrent ventilation comprising: a chamber defining an interior space and having a patient interface output port and a ventilator gas input port, said ventilator gas input port defining a first cross-sectional area, wherein said patient interface output port communicates with said interior space at a first location and said ventilator gas input port communicates with said interior space at a second location positioned upstream from said first location, wherein a downstream flow direction is defined from said ventilator gas input port to said patient interface output port and wherein said ventilator gas input port and said patient interface output port define non-parallel axes, wherein said interior space defines a second cross-sectional area transverse to said downstream flow, wherein said second cross-sectional area is greater than said first cross-sectional area; andan aerosol flow channel having an inlet port separate from said ventilator gas input port and an outlet port disposed in said interior space of said chamber at a third location positioned upstream from said first location and downstream from said second location, and wherein said outlet port opens and discharges into said interior space in said downstream flow direction away from said ventilator gas input port and toward said patient interface output port, wherein said downstream flow direction does not cross said outlet port in a perpendicular relationship, wherein a ventilator gas flow path between said ventilator gas input port and said patient interface output port at least partially encircles said aerosol flow channel and wherein said aerosol flow channel is defined at least in part by a curved wall extending into said interior space of said chamber. 2. The adaptor of claim 1 further comprising a valve operable to release an aerosol flow into said aerosol flow channel. 3. The adaptor of claim 1 further comprising a patient interface element coupled to said patient interface output port. 4. The adaptor of claim 3 wherein said patient interface element comprises an endotracheal tube. 5. The adaptor of claim 1 wherein said aerosol flow channel comprises a nozzle extending into said interior chamber along an axis substantially perpendicular to said ventilator gas input port. 6. The adapter of claim 1 wherein said patient interface output port has a third cross-sectional area defined transversely to the ventilator gas flow path through said patient interface output port, wherein both of said first and third cross-sectional areas are less than said second cross-sectional area. 7. The adapter of claim 1 further comprising an exhaust conduit communicating between and directly with said patient interface output port and said ventilator gas input port, wherein said exhaust conduit and at least a portion of said ventilator as input port define a single exhaust path during an exhalation sequence. 8. The adapter of claim 7 further comprising a housing defining said chamber and said exhaust conduit. 9. The adapter of claim 8 wherein said housing further defines said aerosol flow channel. 10. The adaptor of claim 9 wherein said ventilator input port, said patient interface output port and said inlet port are the only opening communicating with said interior space of said chamber. 11. The adapter of claim 9 wherein said housing comprises a discharge nozzle defining said aerosol flow channel. 12. The adapter of claim 1 wherein said axes of said ventilator gas input port and said patient interface output port are perpendicular to each other. 13. A ventilator circuit comprising: a ventilator gas source;a chamber defining an interior space and having a patient interface output port and a ventilator gas input port, said ventilator gas input port defining a first cross-sectional area, wherein said patient interface output port communicates with said interior space at a first location and said ventilator gas input port communicates with said interior space at a second location positioned upstream from said first location, wherein a downstream flow direction is defined from said ventilator gas input port to said patient interface output port and wherein said ventilator gas input port and said patient interface output port define non-parallel axes, wherein said interior space defines a second cross-sectional area transverse to said downstream flow, wherein said second cross-sectional area is greater than said first cross-sectional area, and an aerosol flow channel having an inlet port separate from said ventilator gas input port and an outlet port disposed in said interior space of said chamber at a third location positioned upstream from said first location and downstream from said second location, and wherein said outlet port opens and discharges into said interior space in said downstream flow direction away from said ventilator gas input port and toward said patient interface output port, wherein said flow direction does not cross said outlet port in a perpendicular relationship, wherein a ventilator gas flow path between said ventilator gas input port and said patient interface output port at least partially encircles said aerosol flow channel and wherein said aerosol flow channel is defined at least in part by a curved wall extending into said interior space of said chamber;a ventilator gas input line coupled between said ventilator gas source and said ventilator gas input port; andan aerosolized medicament source communicating with said aerosol flow channel. 14. The ventilator circuit of claim 13 wherein said aerosolized medicament source comprises a pressurized metered dose inhaler. 15. The ventilator circuit of claim 13 further comprising a valve operable to release an aerosolized medicament flow from said aerosolized medicament source into said aerosol flow channel. 16. The ventilator circuit of claim 13 further comprising a patient interface element coupled to said patient interface output port. 17. The ventilator circuit of claim 16 wherein said patient interface element comprises an endotracheal tube. 18. The ventilator circuit of claim 13 wherein said patient interface output port has a third cross-sectional area defined transversely to the ventilator gas flow path through said patient interface output port, wherein both of said first and third cross-sectional areas are less than said second cross-sectional area. 19. The ventilator circuit of claim 13 further comprising an exhaust conduit communicating between and directly with said patient interface output port and said ventilator gas input port, wherein said exhaust conduit and at least a portion of said ventilator gas input port define a single exhaust path during an exhalation sequence. 20. The ventilator circuit of claim 19 further comprising a housing defining said chamber and said exhaust conduit. 21. The ventilator circuit of claim 20 wherein said housing further defines said aerosol flow channel. 22. The ventilator circuit of claim 21 wherein said ventilator gas input port, said patient interface output port and said inlet port are the only openings communicating with said interior space of said chamber. 23. The ventilator circuit of claim 21 wherein said housing comprises a discharge nozzle defining said aerosol flow channel. 24. The adapter of claim 13 wherein said axes of said ventilator gas input port and said patient interface output port are perpendicular to each other. 25. A method for delivering an aerosolized medicament to a ventilated patient comprising: transmitting a ventilator gas from a ventilator gas source to a ventilator input port of a chamber having an interior space, wherein said ventilator input port defines a first axis and a first cross-sectional area transverse to a flow path through said ventilator gas input port;introducing said aerosolized medicament to said chamber through an aerosol flow channel having an inlet port and an outlet port, said outlet port spaced apart from, and positioned downstream from, said ventilator input port, and said outlet port disposed in said interior space of said chamber, wherein said introducing said aerosolized medicament comprises directing said aerosolized medicament from said outlet port toward a patient interface output port, and wherein said aerosol flow channel is defined at least in part by a curved wall extending into said interior space of said chamber, and wherein said chamber has a second cross-sectional area defined transverse to a flow path between said ventilator gas input port and said patient interface port, said second cross-sectional area greater than said first cross-sectional area;at least partially encircling said aerosol flow channel with said ventilator gas without flowing said ventilator gas across said outlet port;entraining said aerosolized medicament with said ventilator gas downstream from said ventilator input port; andtransmitting said aerosolized medicament and ventilator gas through said patient interface output port of said chamber to a patient interface element, wherein said patient interface output port defines a second axis, wherein said first and second axes are non-parallel. 26. The method of claim 25 wherein said first and second axes are substantially perpendicular. 27. The method of claim 25 wherein said introducing said aerosolized medicament to said chamber comprises opening a valve and thereby releasing an aerosol flow into said aerosol flow channel. 28. The method of claim 25 said patient interface element comprises an endotracheal tube.
