An apparatus for inserting a suture anchor into an internal anatomical site through a cannula, or percutaneously, has a curved hollow guide for insertion into the cannula and/or tissue. The guide has a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end has a “parabolic” shape for engaging the intended anatomical site such as a glenoid. A flexible obturator is insertable through the curved guide from the proximal end to the distal end to facilitate insertion of the guide through the cannula. A flexible drill is insertable through the curved guide from the proximal to the distal end once the guide is in place. A flexible inserter is provided for inserting a suture anchor into a bore at the anatomical site formed by the flexible drill.

1. A system for inserting a suture anchor into an internal anatomical site comprising: a curved hollow guide for accessing an internal anatomical site, having a length between a proximal end and a distal end, and a curve along a portion of the distal end, the curved hollow guide being rigid;a flexible drill having a shaft including a flexible portion along at least a portion of a distal end thereof, the flexible portion comprising a plurality of discrete interlocking portions; anda flexible inserter for inserting a suture anchor into a bore at the anatomical site formed by the flexible drill, wherein the flexible drill and flexible inserter are flexible so as to pass through the curve of the rigid curved hollow guide. 2. The system as set forth in claim 1, wherein the curved hollow guide distal end defines an aperture, the curved hollow guide distal end having with a pair of curved edges, the curved edges defining exactly one pair of opposing generally parabolic recesses through a wall of the curved guide distal end when viewed in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the curved hollow guide distal end. 3. The system as set forth in claim 2, wherein the aperture has a contour shaped to engage a scapular glenoid rim of a shoulder. 4. The system as set forth in claim 2, wherein the distal end of the curved hollow guide defines at least one window extending through the wall. 5. The system as set forth in claim 4, wherein the window is spaced from the tip of the curved hollow guide a distance allowing the viewing of a proximal end of a suture anchor located adjacent the tip when the suture anchor is inserted in the flexible inserter. 6. The system as set forth in claim 1, wherein the anatomical site is a glenoid. 7. The system as set forth in claim 1, wherein the curved hollow guide has a curved angle of about 12° to about 90°. 8. The system as set forth in claim 1, wherein the curved hollow guide has a curved angle of about 25° to about 90°. 9. The system as set forth in claim 1, further comprising a flexible oburator insertable through the curved hollow guide from the proximal end to the distal end. 10. The system as set forth in claim 1, wherein the curve extends over a distance of one to three inches along the length of the curved hollow guide. 11. The system as set forth in claim 1, further comprising: a surgical cannula, wherein the curved hollow guide is receivable through the surgical cannula. 12. A system for implanting an anchor into bone, the system comprising: a curved cannulated guide for accessing an internal anatomical site, having a proximal end and a distal end, the curved cannulated guide being rigid;a flexible obturator insertable through the curved guide from the proximal end to the distal end, the flexible obturator having a shaft made of a nitinol;a flexible drill insertable through the curved guide from the proximal end to the distal end, the flexible drill having a shaft including a flexible portion, the flexible portion comprising a plurality of discrete interlocking portions; anda flexible inserter for inserting a suture anchor into a bore at the anatomical site formed by the flexible drill, wherein the flexible obturator, flexible drill and flexible inserter are flexible so as to pass through a curve positioned between the proximal end distal end of the rigid curved cannulated guide. 13. The system as set forth in claim 12, wherein the cannulated guide distal end defines an aperture at a tip thereof, the guide distal end having a pair of curved edges defining generally parabolic recesses through a wall of the guide distal end when viewed in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the curved hollow guide distal end. 14. The system as set forth in claim 13, wherein the aperture has a contour shaped to engage a scapular glenoid rim of a shoulder. 15. The system as set forth in claim 13, wherein the cannulated guide distal end defines at least one window extending through the wall. 16. The system as set forth in claim 15, wherein the window is spaced proximally from the tip of the cannulated guide distal end a distance allowing the viewing of a proximal end of a suture anchor located adjacent the tip when the suture anchor is inserted in the flexible inserter. 17. The system as set forth in claim 12, wherein the bone is a glenoid. 18. The system as set forth in claim 12, wherein the curved cannulated guide has a curved angle of about 12° to about 90°. 19. The system as set forth in claim 12, wherein the curved cannulated guide has a curve of about 12° to about 25°. 20. The system as set forth in claim 12, wherein the flexible inserter further comprises a distal end formed to be rigid and substantially straight. 21. The system as set forth in claim 12, wherein the discrete interlocking portions are formed by laser cuts. 22. The system as set forth in claim 12, wherein the discrete interlocking portions have the shape of jig-saw puzzle pieces. 23. The system as set forth in claim 12, wherein the flexible drill further includes a distal end having a drill bit, the drill bit being substantially inflexible. 24. The system as set forth in claim 12, wherein the flexible portion is constructed of hypodermic metal tubing. 25. The system as set forth in claim 12, wherein the curve extends over a distance of one to three inches along a length of the curved cannulated guide.
