The device of claim 2 wherein when the switchable connecting device is in the first position the power supply module can operate at higher load currents than when the switchable connecting device is in the third position. 4. The device of claim 1 wherein the switchable connecting device includes a rotating switch blade and a first set of contact fingers, wherein the first set of contact fingers is electrically connected to the rotating switch blade and the rotating switch blade is configured to provide a closed circuit such that current would flow from the first power line conductor through the first winding of wire, the first set of contact fingers, the rotating switch blade, and the second power line conductor without interruption of current. 5. The device of claim 4 wherein the switchable connecting device includes a second set of contact fingers, wherein the second set of contact fingers is electrically connected to the rotating switch blade and the rotating switch blade is configured to provide a closed circuit such that current would flow from the first power line conductor through the first winding of wire, the second winding of wire, the second set of contact fingers, the rotating switch blade, and the second power line conductor without interruption of current. 6. The device of claim 1 wherein a wire diameter of the first winding of wire is greater than a wire diameter of the second winding of wire. 7. The device of claim 1 wherein the first winding of wire and the second winding of wire are detachable from the switchable connecting device without interrupting current flow through the device. 8. The device of claim 1 wherein the switchable connecting device includes a manual tap selector switch and a by-pass switch that are mechanically connected by a common shaft to move together when moving between the first position, the second position, and the third position. 9. The device of claim 1, wherein the switchable connecting device includes a manual tap selector switch includes a tap selector rotating blade mounted at 90 degrees relative to a by-pass switch rotating blade. 10. The device of claim 9, wherein the manual tap selector switch includes a first set of tap selector contact fingers mounted 180 degrees relative to a second set of tap selector contact fingers and the by-pass switch includes a first set of by-pass contact fingers mounted 180 degrees relative to a second set of by-pass contact fingers. 11. The device of claim 1, wherein a by-pass switch rotating blade is configured to overlap a first set of by-pass switch contact fingers and a second set of by-pass switch contact fingers when a tap selector rotating blade moves between contacting a first set of tap selector contact fingers and a second set of tap selector contact fingers. 12. The device of claim 1, wherein the first power line conductor and the second power line conductor form a single primary power line conductor. 13. A device connectable to an electric power line conductor comprising: an electrically conductive insulated first winding of wire wound into at least two turns having a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is configured to be attached to a first power line conductor;an electrically conductive insulated second winding of wire wound into at least one turn having a first end connected to the second end of the first winding of wire and a second end configured to be attached to a second power line conductor; anda switchable connecting device configured to move between a first position connecting the first power line conductor in series with the second power line conductor, a second position with the first winding of wire in series with the first power line conductor and the second power line conductor, and a third position with the first power line conductor, the first winding of wire, and the second winding of wire connected in series with the second power line conductor, wherein the switchable connecting device includes a manual tap selector switch and a by-pass switch that are mechanically connected by a common shaft to move together when moving between the first position, the second position, and the third position. 14. The device of claim 13, wherein the manual tap selector switch includes a tap selector rotating blade mounted at 90 degrees relative to a by-pass switch rotating blade. 15. The device of claim 14, wherein the manual tap selector switch includes a first set of tap selector contact fingers mounted 180 degrees relative to a second set of tap selector contact fingers and the by-pass switch includes a first set of by-pass contact fingers mounted 180 degrees relative to a second set of by-pass contact fingers. 16. The device of claim 15, wherein the first set of tap selector contact fingers and the second set of tap selector contact fingers include an angled corner with a rounded leading edge and a horizontal slot cut midway down from a leading edge to a first mounting hole. 17. The device of claim 15 wherein the first set of by-pass contact fingers and the second set of by-pass contact fingers include an angled corner with a rounded leading edge and a horizontal slot cut midway down from a leading edge to a first mounting hole. 18. The device of claim 13 wherein the by-pass switch rotating blade is configured to overlap a first set of by-pass switch contact fingers and a second set of by-pass switch contact fingers when a tap selector rotating blade moves between contacting a first set of tap selector contact fingers and a second set of tap selector contact fingers. 19. The device of claim 18 including at least one operator handle connected to the common shaft connecting the by-pass switch rotating blade and the tap selector rotating blade. 20. The device of claim 13 wherein when the by-pass switch is in a closed position, current is configured to flow from the first power line conductor to the second power line conductor.
