초록

A rotorcraft is disclosed. The rotorcraft may include an airframe and a rotor connected to the airframe. The rotor may include a hub and at least one rotor blade having a tip jet. The rotorcraft may further include a plurality of compressors for generating compressed air and a network of conduits connecting the outlets of the plurality of compressors with every tip jet of the rotor. The rotorcraft may further include a control system preventing back flow through each outlet of the plurality of compressors.

A rotorcraft comprising: an airframe;at least one rotor connected to the airframe and comprising a hub, andat least one rotor blade having a root, tip opposite the root, and tip jet located at the tip;a plurality of compressors, each connected to the airframe and having an outlet for compressed air;a network of conduits connected to the airframe and connecting every outlet of the plurality of compressors with every tip jet of the at least one rotor; anda control system preventing back flow through each outlet of the plurality of compressors by detecting automatically a failure of a compressor of the plurality of compressors,automatically preventing back flow through the compressor in response to the detecting the failure, andincreasing fuel flow to the at least one tip jet in response to the detecting. 2. The rotorcraft of claim 1, wherein the plurality of compressors comprises at least one jet engine. 3. The rotorcraft of claim 2, wherein the compressed air passing through the outlet corresponding to the at least one jet engine and into the network of conduits comprises exhaust gas from the at least one jet engine. 4. The rotorcraft of claim 2, wherein the compressed air passing through the outlet corresponding to the at least one jet engine and into the network of conduits comprises air bled from a compressor portion of the at least one jet engine. 5. The rotorcraft of claim 2, wherein: the at least one jet engine comprises a turbofan; andthe compressed air passing through the outlet corresponding to the at least one jet engine and into the network of conduits comprises air from the fan of the turbofan. 6. The rotorcraft of claim 5, wherein the compressed air passing through the outlet corresponding to the at least one jet engine and into the network of conduits comprises substantially all of the air from the fan of the turbofan. 7. The rotorcraft of claim 1, wherein the plurality of compressors comprises at least one engine dedicated substantially exclusively to the generation of compressed air for one or more tip jets of the at least one rotor. 8. The rotorcraft of claim 1, wherein the plurality of compressors comprises at least one compressor driven by a turboprop engine. 9. The rotorcraft of claim 8, wherein the turboprop engine drives both the at least one compressor and a propeller. 10. The rotorcraft of claim 9, further comprising a clutch for selectively disengaging the at least one compressor from the turboprop engine. 11. The rotorcraft of claim 1, wherein the control system comprises a plurality of valves distributed within the network of conduits. 12. The rotorcraft of claim 11, wherein the network of conduits comprises: a plenum;a plurality of incoming ducts, each connecting a different outlet of the plurality of compressors to the plenum;outgoing ducting connecting the hub to the plenum; andan interior conduit extending within each blade of the at least one rotor blade to connect a corresponding tip jet to the hub. 13. The rotorcraft of claim 12, wherein the plurality of valves comprises at least as many valves as there are outlets of the plurality of compressors. 14. The rotorcraft of claim 13, wherein a different valve of the plurality of valves is positioned within each incoming duct of the plurality of incoming ducts. 15. A rotorcraft comprising: an airframe;a rotor connected to the airframe and comprising a hub, andat least two rotor blades having a root, tip opposite the root, and tip jet located at the tip;at least two turbofan engines, each connected to the airframe and having a fan portion and an outlet portion, the outlet portion receiving a portion or substantially all of the compressed air generated by the fan portion;a network of conduits connected to the airframe and connecting every outlet of the at least two turbofan engines with every tip jet of the rotor; anda control system preventing back flow through the outlets of the at least two turbofan engines by detecting automatically a failure of a turbofan engine of the at least two turbofans;automatically preventing back flow through the compressor in response to the detecting, andincreasing fuel flow to the at least one tip jet in response to the detecting. 16. A method comprising: identifying a rotorcraft comprising at least one rotor having tip jets,a plurality of compressors, each having an outlet for compressed air,a network of conduits connecting every outlet of the plurality of compressors with every tip jet of the at least one rotor, anda control system;powering, by the tip jets, rotation of the at least one rotor;flying, during the powering, the rotorcraft;experiencing during the flying a failure of at least one compressor of the plurality of compressors;preventing, by the control system in response to the failure, back flow through the outlet corresponding to the at least one compressor; andincreasing, in response to the failure, the amount of fuel delivered to the tip jets. 17. The method of claim 16, further comprising increasing, in response to the failure, the amount of compressed air generated by one or more compressors of the plurality of compressors. 18. The method of claim 17, further comprising increasing, in response to the failure, the amount of fuel delivered to the tip jets. 19. The method of claim 16, wherein: the control system comprises a plurality of valves distributed within the network of conduits;the network of conduits comprises a plenum,a plurality of incoming ducts, each connecting a different outlet of the plurality of compressors to the plenum,outgoing ducting connecting the hub to the plenum, and an interior conduit extending within each blade of the at least one rotor to connect a corresponding tip jet to the hub; anda different valve of the plurality of valves is positioned within each incoming duct of the plurality of incoming ducts.
