According to one aspect, a rechargeable battery system includes a plurality of rechargeable battery cells coupled between a plurality of terminals and charge shuttling circuitry configured to couple with and shuttle electrical energy between individual ones of the rechargeable battery cells, and wherein the charge shuttling circuitry is configured to receive the electrical energy from one of the rechargeable battery cells at a first voltage and to provide the electrical energy to another of the rechargeable battery cells at a second voltage greater than the first voltage.

A rechargeable battery system comprising: a plurality of rechargeable battery cells coupled between a plurality of terminals; andcharge shuttling circuitry configured to couple with and shuttle electrical energy between individual ones of the rechargeable battery cells, and wherein the charge shuttling circuitry is configured to receive the electrical energy from one of the rechargeable battery cells at a first voltage and to provide the electrical energy to another of the rechargeable battery cells at a second voltage greater than the first voltage;wherein the charge shuttling circuitry comprises storage circuitry configured to receive and to store the electrical energy from the one of the rechargeable battery cells and to provide the electrical energy to the another of the rechargeable battery cells; andwherein the storage circuitry comprises a plurality of storage devices, and wherein the storage devices are coupled in parallel with the one of the rechargeable battery cells during the reception of the electrical energy from the one of the rechargeable battery cells and the storage devices are coupled in series with the another of the rechargeable battery cells during the provision of the electrical energy to the another of the rechargeable battery cells. 2. The system of claim 1 wherein the storage devices individually comprise a capacitor. 3. The system of claim 1 wherein the electrical energy storage circuitry is coupled with the one and the another rechargeable battery cells at different moments in time. 4. The system of claim 1 wherein the charge shuttling circuitry is configured to shuttle the electrical energy between the one and the another of the rechargeable battery cells to increase balancing of the states of charge of the one and the another rechargeable battery cells compared with the states of charge of the one and the another rechargeable battery cells in an absence of the shuttling of the electrical energy by the charge shuttling circuitry. 5. The system of claim 1 wherein the one and the another rechargeable battery cells have substantially the same voltage during the shuttling of the electrical energy. 6. The system of claim 1 wherein the rechargeable battery cells comprise Lithium. 7. The system of claim 1 wherein the one of the rechargeable battery cells has a higher state of charge than the another of the rechargeable battery cells prior to the shuttling of electrical energy from the one to the another of the rechargeable battery cells. 8. The system of claim 7 wherein the one of the rechargeable battery cells has the highest state of charge of the rechargeable battery cells and the another of the rechargeable battery cells has the lowest state of charge of the rechargeable battery cells. 9. The system of claim 7 further comprising control circuitry configured to monitor states of charge of the rechargeable battery cells and to select the one and the another of the rechargeable battery cells as a result of the monitoring and to control the coupling of the charge shuttling circuitry with the one and the another of the rechargeable battery cells. 10. The system of claim 1 wherein the rechargeable battery cells and the charge shuttling circuitry are implemented within a module, and wherein the rechargeable battery system comprises a plurality of additional modules. 11. The system of claim 1 wherein the charge shuttling circuitry shuttles the electrical energy between the one and the another of the rechargeable battery cells during charging of the rechargeable battery cells. 12. The system of claim 1 wherein the charge shuttling circuitry shuttles the electrical energy between the one and the another of the rechargeable battery cells during discharging of the rechargeable battery cells. 13. The system of claim 1 wherein the charge shuttling circuitry shuttles the electrical energy between the one and the another of the rechargeable battery cells during both of charging and discharging of the rechargeable battery cells. 14. A rechargeable battery system operational method comprising: transferring electrical energy from one of a plurality of rechargeable battery cells of a battery system to another of the rechargeable battery cells to increase balancing of the states of charge of the one and the another of the rechargeable battery cells with respect to one another compared with the states of charge of the one and the another of the rechargeable battery cells in an absence of the transferring;wherein the transferring comprises receiving and storing the electrical energy from the one of the rechargeable battery cells at a first voltage, and after the storing, providing the electrical energy to the another of the rechargeable battery cells at a second voltage greater than the first voltage;wherein the storing comprises storing using a plurality of storage devices coupled in parallel with the one of the rechargeable battery cells during the reception of the electrical energy from the one of the rechargeable battery cells and wherein the storage devices are coupled in series with the another of the rechargeable battery cells during the provision of the electrical energy to the another of the rechargeable battery cells. 15. The method of claim 14 wherein the storing comprises storing using the storage devices comprising capacitors. 16. The method of claim 14 wherein the transferring comprises transferring the electrical energy between the one and the another of the rechargeable battery cells having substantially the same voltage. 17. The method of claim 14 wherein the transferring comprises transferring the electrical energy between the one and the another of the rechargeable battery cells which comprise Lithium. 18. The method of claim 14 wherein the transferring comprises transferring the electrical energy between the one of the rechargeable battery cells having a state of charge which is higher than a state of charge of the another of the rechargeable battery cells before the transferring. 19. The method of claim 14 wherein the transferring comprises transferring the electrical energy between the one of the rechargeable battery cells having a highest state of charge and the another of the rechargeable battery cells having a lowest state of charge before the transferring. 20. The method of claim 14 further comprising: monitoring states of charge of the rechargeable battery cells;selecting the one and the another of the rechargeable battery cells as a result of the monitoring; andwherein the transferring comprises transferring as a result of the selecting. 21. The method of claim 14 wherein the transferring comprises transferring during charging of the rechargeable battery cells. 22. The method of claim 14 wherein the transferring comprises transferring during discharging of the rechargeable battery cells. 23. The method of claim 14 wherein the transferring comprises transferring during both of charging and discharging of the rechargeable battery cells.
